Chapter 671: Chapter 650: I am not staying, this is a risk I can’t take!

Mario Jensen narrowed his eyes at Ivy’s pale face, trying to discern the real meaning behind her words from her expression.

"Why did you turn on the light? Aren’t you tired?"

As soon as Lina Miller uttered these words, she noticed the strange look on the man’s face; even his eyebrows were furrowed!

"Why did you suddenly ask me if I like children?"

As Mario Jensen asked this question, his gaze slowly moved downward, finally landing on her flat abdomen. His face darkened bit by bit as he recalled all her recent reactions in his mind.

Nausea? Sleepiness? Easily tired? Loss of appetite? Every time he wanted to make love, she would evade him as if she’d been electrocuted. Did it feel like she was guilty?

All of the symptoms she exhibited matched the symptoms of that particular condition. The taut string in Mario Jensen’s mind...snapped!

"I just asked..." she asked.

"Lina, are you...pregnant?"

Mario Jensen’s words followed her last syllable, listing nausea, sleepiness, loss of appetite - all signs of pregnancy. When she was pregnant with Nana Jensen, he wasn’t there. She had early symptoms like nausea and vomiting, which he didn’t notice, thinking it was just an upset stomach from a poor appetite. That’s why he didn’t notice and let her sneak away.

During the time she was away, he consulted almost all the knowledge about pregnant women and children, including their pregnancy reactions. However, when he found her again, she had already passed the stage of intense pregnancy reactions.

Thus, he gradually forgot about it. Also, after giving birth, each time they had sex, he was fully prepared, using contraception. Last time on vacation, he endured not touching her all night because Michael Gordon deliberately messed up the condom to avoid getting her pregnant.

He always took precautions, so he didn’t think about the possibility of her being pregnant. In fact, if he had thought about it carefully, it would have been obvious. He was really careless!

Seeing that Lina just stared at him with wide eyes, not saying a word, neither acknowledging nor denying it, Mario Jensen understood instantly. They were truly unlucky to have gotten pregnant!

He was such a scoundrel!

"Was it the night of the awards party at the hotel?"

He hadn’t touched her recently; it had been almost twenty days since their last encounter. He took her to an Oscar awards party. That night, he had a few drinks, and since they were out - no kids around - both of their moods were high.

But he remembered taking precautions!

"Yes!"

Lina nodded. She had intended to tell him anyway, and now that he had guessed it, there was nothing to hide. So she honestly confessed, "It was that night. It seems like the condom slipped off when you pulled out. We didn’t notice it at the time, and I only remembered it later on..."

As she spoke, her voice got lower and lower, until eventually, she couldn’t say anymore.

"Damn it!"

Mario Jensen instinctively slapped his forehead and muttered a curse. Both incidents had happened after having a few drinks. He was truly a professional when it came to getting a woman pregnant while intoxicated. Without thinking, he blurted, "We can’t keep this child!"

"Mario, it’s our baby!"

Just as she had expected, Mario Jensen’s attitude was resolute and unyielding. But upon hearing this, she couldn’t control her agitation and retorted, "You can’t abandon him!"

"It’s not that I don’t want him, Lina. You know the situation you’re in now!"

Upon hearing this news, Mario Jensen didn’t know whether to be overjoyed or to treat it as a terrible revelation. If Lina could give birth naturally, he would have been delighted to receive this news. But with her current situation,

he didn’t even have a choice.

"It’s beyond my control, I want him too. But with your current situation, even if you were to give up your name, you still can’t keep him! There’s no room for discussion in this matter!"

Mario Jensen’s attitude suddenly turned cold. Without giving himself time to breathe, he reached for the phone and called Michael Gordon. The call was quickly connected, and without any pleasantries, he said bluntly, "Michael, do me a favor. Help me make an appointment with an Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist at your hospital. Arrange a surgery for me. Yes, an abortion!"

"You fucking call me in the middle of the night to arrange a murder?"

Ivy was asleep, so Michael Gordon carefully held the phone and tiptoed out of the bedroom, shutting the door before raising his voice, "Mario Jensen, schedule that yourself. I’m about to become a father. Don’t come to me for abortion matters!"

For some reason, just hearing the words ’abortion surgery’ made Michael Gordon feel irritable, perhaps because he was about to become a father again. Lately, his nerves had been on edge.

"You think I have a choice? My child, do you think I don’t want them? You think everyone’s as lucky as you, having one and still having the opportunity to have two or three more?"

Mario Jensen was all too familiar with Lina’s situation. After that huge car accident and the caesarean section, the doctor had clearly stated that she shouldn’t get pregnant for at least three years, under the condition that she recuperates well. If not, it would be best not to have children for the rest of her life.

But it has only been half a year. Asking her to have a child now is akin to sending her to her death. Women may be sensitive and muddle-headed, but as a man, he can’t afford to be so!

"Then ask the hospital yourself. Don’t ask me!"

Michael Gordon, somewhat irritated, reached out to tug at the collar of his shirt as a habit, only to realize that he was only wearing a bathrobe and there was no collar. After a while, he spoke again, "I’ll call the hospital. You take the woman for a check-up yourself. Also, I’ve already mentioned it to Lucas Sandy. You should ask him if there’s any way to keep the child!"

"No, I can’t take that risk!"

Without even thinking, Mario Jensen immediately replied decisively. He had explained Lina’s situation to Lucas Sandy in great detail before. Asking again would only serve to increase a futile struggle. In the end, the result would still be the same, and the process would only intensify the pain for both of them.

He had said that if they wanted to conceive, they must wait three years, undergo check-ups, and only then try to conceive if suitable. If they still couldn’t, they should be content with having one child and not force it.

With things at this point, there was no need to ask further questions. It would only give Lina false hope, ultimately making it harder for her to bear. In terms of emotional attachment to children, women have always had a deeper bond than men, particularly in the case of a ten-month pregnancy.

Women can be emotional, but he, as a man, cannot be like that. That would cost her her life!

He wouldn’t take such a life-threatening risk.
