Chapter 650: Chapter 629: You’re Not Pregnant Again, Are You?
According to the wedding schedule, the groom first picked up the bride from her home and brought her to his, performing the traditional door-crossing ceremony. Then they went to the hotel for the wedding with both sets of parents.
By the time they finished the ceremony at the Smith family mansion and arrived at the hotel, it was already 3 p.m.
The wedding was set to begin at 5:20 p.m., a popular time for "I love you." Most of the time, the hotel was busy receiving guests who had lunch and were arriving in succession. Everyone had a relatively leisurely time, except for the newlyweds and best men who were busy. In particular, Ivy, who was pregnant, had the most free time.
However, Michael Gordon did help out a bit. Oliver Thompson rarely stayed in Andras City, and he didn’t know many people. In times like this, Michael had to step in and assist with the guest reception.
Although the men didn’t know each other well, they joined in. After Julie Harrison and Lina Miller accompanied Ivy to take photos with the bride, they all rested in the hotel’s VIP room.
"Lina, why does your face look so pale?"
Ivy thought something was off with Lina’s complexion, which had turned white since the morning. "Are you feeling unwell? Your complexion looks even worse than mine, and I’m carrying twins!"
Upon hearing Ivy’s comment, Lina instinctively grabbed a mirror to take a look and noticed that her face indeed appeared unwell. She felt a heavy heart but didn’t immediately respond. Instead, she sat blankly for a while before asking Ivy and Julia: "Can you both tell that my complexion is off?"
If they both noticed, then Mario Jensen would definitely see her abnormality too. But she couldn’t let him find out right now.
"Of course, we’re not blind! Your face looks like that of a dead person, how could we not see?"
As Ivy spoke, she thought carefully about the entire process. It didn’t seem like Lina had overexerted herself, and it appeared she took every opportunity to sit and be careful. In fact, she seemed more cautious than Ivy, who was pregnant. On closer thought, Lina had even visited the bathroom more frequently than Ivy, which was unusual considering Ivy’s advanced pregnancy.
Why was Lina going more often?
It seemed that each time Lina went, her complexion worsened. Suddenly, a terrible idea crossed Ivy’s mind, causing her eyes to widen in shock: "Lina, are you pregnant again?"
The only possibility for her worsening complexion after visiting the bathroom was vomiting.
Upon hearing this, Lina glanced around the room before lowering her voice and answering sheepishly, "It seems... possible!"
As women, there was no need to hide from each other!
"You... Why weren’t you more careful? With this..."
Ivy was stunned by the news, finally understanding why Lina appeared so guilty. "Nora is only a little over half a year old, and the scars in your uterus haven’t fully healed. You two were so reckless - are you trying to risk your lives?"
This baby, Lina, couldn’t have come at a worse time. A cesarean section requires at least three years before having another child. Yet, Lina was pregnant again just half a year later, the scar barely healed. It was as if they were trying to cause trouble!
"We... We’ve been very careful, taking precautions every time. Maybe it’s fate that we should keep this baby!"
Every time they were intimate, Mario was more careful than her. They always had condoms at home. Once, during a vacation, they didn’t have any condoms, but Mario stopped in the nick of time. He cherished Lina’s body even more than she did. She couldn’t understand how she’d gotten pregnant!
"From your expression, don’t tell me Mario doesn’t know yet?"
Ivy stared at Lina’s complicated expression, already understanding the situation, but still posed the question.
"Mhm!"
Lina honestly nodded. In front of her friends, she had nothing to hide. Before figuring out her next move, how could she dare to tell Mario? He would undoubtedly insist she go to the hospital to get an abortion, out of concern for her. However, now that there was a child in her belly, how could she bear to go through with it?
"I only discovered it myself and haven’t had the chance to tell him!"
"Lina, this situation isn’t a joke and you need to tell Mario as soon as possible, then contact the doctor. The sooner you get it removed, the better!"
As a mother, Julia had experience and was like a semi-expert in pregnancy and childcare. "This isn’t about whether you’re willing to let go or not. Even if you’re unwilling to let go, you may not be able to protect the baby. By the time your belly is as big as Ivy’s, your scar might rupture. Even a genius like Lucas Sandy would be helpless in such a situation!"
"Yeah, I’ve heard about someone who encountered this situation and risked giving birth. However, midway through the pregnancy, her belly ruptured, resulting in the loss of both her life and the baby’s. So, why bother?"
Even though Ivy loved her baby dearly, her feelings couldn’t defy nature’s laws. "While the baby’s heart is still growing, it’s best to remove it right away. This matter isn’t about whether you’re willing to risk your life or not; you can’t ensure the child’s safety regardless." Sigh!
Getting pregnant at this time was truly distressing!
"I’ll think about it!"
Lina’s face turned pale as she gently covered her flat belly. According to her calculations, it should be no more than 20 days. Since giving birth, her periods had just resumed, so when she missed one, she was sensitive to the changes in her body. That’s how she discovered her pregnancy.
With the baby already in her belly, it was hard to abandon it. As a mother, she didn’t want to let go, even if it meant sacrificing her life!
"Lina, you can’t keep thinking. Once you go back, tell Mario immediately. The more you delay, the bigger the baby will grow, making it even harder to let go. Plus, it will be worse for adults!"
Julia’s face became serious as she advised Lina. Advising someone to get an abortion was difficult, as even an observer like her found it hard to let go. It’s not easy getting pregnant these days.
With her head down, Lina listened to their advice and finally agreed: "I’ll talk to Mario tonight, discuss it with him, and have him think of a solution. After all, with such advancements in technology, there might be a way. If there’s really no other option, then we’ll see!"
"Okay, remember to discuss with him. Later, I’ll ask Michael to have Cathy help you inquire if Lucas Sandy has any possible solutions to preserve the baby."
"Thank you, guys!"
Seeing Lina’s poor complexion, Ivy decided to take a stroll outside the room with Julia to alleviate her boredom. "You rest here since you’re not feeling well. Julia and I will go out for a walk. When the time comes, we’ll come up and accompany you to the wedding ceremony!"
As Michael had reserved a special room for her at their hotel, they used their fingerprint to lock the door for Lina. Then, they went out. Since the hotel’s completion, Ivy hadn’t had the chance to look around properly.
Recalling how Michael mentioned planting her favorite lavender in the garden, Ivy decided to take Julia with her. As they neared the hotel garden, they saw a figure standing far away amidst the lavender manor. Wearing a black leather trench coat and black leather pants, the person had his back to them. The sight of his silhouette caused Ivy to shiver involuntarily, making her want to retreat.
