Chapter 636: Chapter 615: The Secret before the Wedding

Mrs. Smith was being so wild, Mr. Smith had no idea how to handle it appropriately!

"Honey, aren’t you doing this to have a baby rather than messing around?"

She was never this enthusiastic when they were making love before. It was only in this special moment that she was so wild.

"No, darling, I’m not just wanting to have a baby!" She said, while her hands mischievously snuck around the man’s neck, and her head nuzzled into his chest, "I want to have a baby for you, having a baby is not the main point, but who I’m having it for is!"

Jaysen Smith: "..."

Should he be happy?

Upon hearing these words, he should be ecstatic. The woman who had always wanted to use his genes now declared that the baby is for him!

However, at this moment, even if he wanted to express joy, he simply couldn’t muster it up!

"Fine, I got it, take care of yourself first, then seriously consider having a baby for me."

Jaysen chuckled, removed the woman’s hand off his neck, slowly got up and put on his clothes, then he started helping her dress up one article of clothing at a time.

Throughout the entire process, Madeline just silently stared at him. It wasn’t until he had helped her get fully dressed that she finally spoke up again.

"Jaysen..."

"Hush, don’t overthink, you’re okay!"

Before she could finish her sentence, he bent over and tenderly kissed her forehead, then let out a sigh, and resignedly said, "By the time Lucas arrived, our baby was already gone. Lucas had no way to save the baby, so it’s not his medical skills that led to our baby’s departure, but we simply missed the opportunity."

"He assured me that although he couldn’t save our baby, he could guarantee your health. So, Madeline, there is nothing wrong with you, you are capable of having a baby for me. But right now, you just recovered from a serious illness, your body is fragile, so it’s crucial to recuperate."

Madeline blankly stared at Jaysen. He had finally plucked up his courage to tell her.

So their baby had departed from her for so long.

"Alright, I got it. I’ll listen to you, take care of myself, and won’t do anything rash," she agreed.

After dressing her up and helping her brush her teeth, Jaysen finally brought her downstairs for breakfast the next morning.

For the following days, Madeline didn’t ask about anything. She just quietly stayed in the Smith’s mansion, recuperating her body. The wedding preparations were underway, and for this wedding, the Smith family deviated from their traditionally low-key style. Everything related to the wedding, from the hotel reservation, dress fitting, to the exposure of the engagement, occupied the media headlines. The name ’Madeline’ toppled female stars to become the headline itself.

With the previous betrothal gift worth tens of billions, Madeline has become the world’s most envied high-priced bride. Even the prospective brides, Lina Miller and Ivy Aretha, couldn’t help but feel jealous.

Under Fiona Reed’s supervision, Madeline took good care of herself for a month and a half. Her body became full and even her spirit was lifted. As the wedding approached, Madeline became more and more nervous. Somehow, she felt uneasy, as though something was about to happen.

Perhaps this is what all surrogate brides feel!

Ivy said she’s having pre-wedding jitters because she was already afraid of the wedding. Ivy’s wedding was initially arranged by Michael Gordon to take place before Madeline’s. However, due to an unexpected pregnancy and the need for bed rest, the women initially postponed it. After Ivy’s belly grew larger, making it difficult for her to wear a wedding dress, she decided to postpone the wedding until after the baby was born.

Moreover, Calvin Gordon’s sudden change in attitude seems to indicate his acceptance of Ivy. Michael also agreed with Ivy’s decision. After all, if Calvin gave his blessing, it would not make much difference to Michael, but it would make a big difference to Ivy and Bella Gordon.

Add to that, Ivy was already more than six months pregnant with twins. Her belly was larger than that of a typical pregnant woman, and she needed protection with her movements. So, they decided to postpone the wedding.

They would discuss it after the baby was born.

In Mr. Gordon’s words, they should let Madeline and Jaysen go first, they would take the finale, get married with all three children.

Jaysen Smith and Madeline’s wedding just so happened to be on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Oliver Thompson had fully recovered and was ready to take Julia Harrison home. But they decided to stay and attend Jaysen and Madeline’s wedding before leaving.

Of course, the happiest were Roy Thompson and Bella Gordon. Not only were they the flower girl and boy for the wedding, but they also got to spend more time together.

The day before the wedding, Madeline started living back in the Harrison family’s mansion, as per tradition, the bride is supposed to get picked up from her parent’s home on the wedding day. So, Jaysen Smith accompanied her back to the Harrison family’s mansion, and stayed with her until late at night, right until she fell asleep, then he went downstairs and left.

Upon descending the stairs, he saw Madeline’s father sitting in the main hall. His expression was complicated and solemn, hard to tell whether he was happy or not, he seemed more nostalgic. This gave Jaysen a sinking feeling and he was reminded of the worried look Madeline’s father had when Madeline was in danger. He had a hunch that, despite everything, this man still loved his daughter.

"Dad, Madeline has gone to bed. I’ll come to pick her up tomorrow morning."

"Are you tired?"

Caleb Harrison lifted his gaze at the sound of his voice and asked. His meaning was clear, if he wasn’t tired, it seemed like he had something to discuss.

"To marry Madeline, no matter how tired I am, I’m willing. Moreover, I don’t think taking care of her is a chore," Jaysen said respectfully, making a sincere promise.

"Since you’re not tired, don’t be in a rush to leave. Have a seat and let’s chat."

Caleb Harrison gestured for Jaysen to sit, then ordered a servant, "Bring a cup of Anji white tea for my son-in-law, his favorite kind."

Upon hearing this, Jaysen became slightly stiff. After a moment, he strolled over to Caleb Harrison and took a seat next to him. "How did you know that I like to drink Anji white tea at night?"

He was a man who savored life and had certain preferences. In the morning, he drank milk; in the afternoon, coffee; and at night, only white tea, specifically Anji’s white tea. Even Fiona Reed did not bother to remember this habit, so he was surprised that his future father-in-law knew so clearly.

"Madeline is going to spend her life with you, I can’t be ignorant about you."

Caleb Harrison spoke very directly, without any sign of beating around the bush. As he started speaking, the servant brought the steeped white tea. "Have a taste. I’ve had someone bring this from Anji not too long ago. It’s the newest harvest. I’ve tried it myself, the taste is indeed good."

"Thank you, Dad!"

Jaysen took the tea and politely took a sip, then commented, "It is indeed good. To get new tea at this time of year, you must have gone through a lot of trouble, Dad!"

It was already past the tea-picking season, so to buy fresh tea, it would take more than just money.
