Chapter 578: Chapter 557: Daddy, Don’t Expose Me

"Fine, I agree. If I don’t, you’ll just make a fuss, and I’m tired of it. I don’t want to fight anymore!"

Although it was said reluctantly, the woman managed to convey a light and joyful mood, brightening up the room in the morning.

"Rosella, I brought back your things!"

Julie Harrison took the item from the man and slowly opened it. Indeed, it was the blood diamond she had lost. Even after so many years, she could still recognize it as the treasure of the Harrison family at a glance.

"Didn’t you give this to Harvey Dunn? Why is it still here?"

At that time, she clearly saw the blood diamond in the box. Harvey Dunn wasn’t stupid. He agreed to the trade only after verifying that the blood diamond was inside, but it was shattered by a single bullet from Michael Gordon. She thought the blood diamond had been ruined as well at that time.

She certainly wanted to get it back at that time.

But Oliver Thompson’s wounds were too severe, and she couldn’t afford to delay, so she had to leave the blood diamond behind for the time being. However, she never thought that the blood diamond would come back to her side.

"Do you think I would return something that almost cost me my life?"

Oliver Thompson kissed the woman’s forehead and said, "I told you, anything you have lost because of me will be returned to you. Even if it costs me my life. And now it has come back!"

"How silly of you, almost losing your life over a diamond. Was it worth it?"

"Yes!"

When you decide to love someone with all your heart and soul, risking everything, you will find all the sacrifices worthwhile. That’s how Oliver Thompson feels right now.

They had said everything they wanted to say, and Julie Harrison did not speak again. Instead, she just nodded slightly, got up to change her clothes, and then helped the man change his clothes. Following Lucas Sandy’s advice, it was best to rest in bed.

Oliver Thompson didn’t intend to obey, but he had no choice but to lie down in bed, thanks to Julie Harrison’s persistence.

At least he could still enjoy the care of his wife.

After breakfast, Julie Harrison busied herself in the kitchen, making various tonic soups. Michael Gordon took Bianca Aretha to change their household registration early in the morning, Roy went to school, and Ivy Aretha was confined at home. She spent her time either talking with pregnant Sienna Harrison on the phone or reading gossipy and uninformative magazines.

By noon, Oliver Thompson couldn’t lie in bed any longer. While Julie Harrison was busy, he struggled to fumble his way out, and had a servant move a sofa to the kitchen door. This way, he could watch his wife bustling around in the transparent kitchen.

Watching her skillfully cutting and washing vegetables and ribs, Oliver Thompson’s lips curved into a satisfied smile. His empty heart was finally filled again. What a perfect life this should have been!

"Yuck, Uncle Thompson, what are you doing sitting at the kitchen door? Breathing in cooking fumes?"

Bianca Aretha had just walked a few steps into the house when she noticed a sofa by the kitchen door and a man sitting on it, staring blankly at the kitchen. When she called out to him, he didn’t respond immediately, then waved his hand in front of his face. "Uncle, if you want to breathe in cooking fumes, you should go inside the kitchen. You can’t get any over here, oh, no, our exhaust fan is super awesome, I guess there aren’t any fumes inside either!"

"Pffft!"

Michael Gordon couldn’t help but laugh at his naughty daughter’s comparison, "Your Uncle Thompson doesn’t want to breathe in cooking fumes, he clearly wants to see the beautiful woman. Baby, your eyesight is failing!"

Bianca Aretha: "..."

"Daddy, don’t expose me like that. At least give Uncle Thompson some face!"

With that, she cocked her head and pushed open the kitchen door, "Aunt Cathy, there’s a man outside staring at you. You need to maintain your beautiful image!"

Michael Gordon: "..." What happened to not exposing people?

Julie Harrison: "..."

Hearing this, Julie Harrison turned to look at Oliver Thompson, sitting solemnly on the sofa by the transparent kitchen door, and immediately dropped her kitchen knife and stormed out: "I told you to lie in bed and not move around! How did you end up at the kitchen door?!"

Julie Harrison’s eyes narrowed, her face darkening, and her voice filled with weary helplessness, "Why do you have to be so disobedient and troublesome?!"

She didn’t know what to do with this man. When he ignored her, he remained cold no matter how much she tried to please him. Now that he wanted to pay attention to her, he didn’t care how cold or indifferent she was, but still showed a carefree, clinging attitude.

"I don’t feel at ease if I don’t see you!"

With just one simple sentence, the man touched her heart, and Julie Harrison suddenly froze.

This line was always her line. When had he learned to say it? Since marrying him, she had always followed him wherever he went, using the excuse that her heart wasn’t at ease without seeing him.

Eventually, she grew tired of following him and asked him for a child instead. She still remembered how grim his expression was when he agreed, accusing her of wanting to trap him in the relationship with a child. And yet, he ultimately agreed to her request.

But now...

The feeling of their roles reversing did not make Julie Harrison feel vindicated, but rather a deep sense of heartache.

"Oliver, since I’ve agreed to forgive you, I really have. Please don’t act like this, I’m not going anywhere!"

As she spoke, she walked over to help the man up. "I’ll help you back to bed. You can’t play around with such a serious wound!"

"Lying there alone is quite boring. I’d rather be here and watch you cook for me!"

During the six years after their marriage, she cooked for him every day, preparing warm meals for him, no matter how late he came back. But he had never really watched her cook. Now that he had seen it, he realized what a beautiful scene he had missed out on all those years.

"Enough, you two are disgusting. So much PDA after all these years as a couple, aren’t you embarrassed?"

Michael Gordon then bent down and scooped up Bianca Aretha, who had just entered the door. "Baby, let’s go upstairs and tell your mommy the good news that you’re now Miss Gordon!"

Seeing the affectionate father-daughter duo go upstairs, Julie Harrison’s lips revealed a warm smile. For a moment, the two had no suitable topics to talk about. After a pause, Julie Harrison said, "Look at how affectionate Michael and Bianca are. Why can’t you and Roy be that close?"
