Chapter 558 - 537: So What About the Bear?

Chapter 558: Chapter 537: So What About the Bear?

Theo Scott stared blankly at the woman before him, his eyes somewhat vacant. She spoke with incredible composure, "Madeline, stop lying to yourself. I know you’ve never been fond of these wealthy scions. Look at you, your eyes are swollen from crying. Dare you say you are truly happy?"

After pausing for a moment, Theo continued, "If you were happy, why did you cry like that at my wedding? Then shortly after, you married Jaysen Smith? Moreover, if you were happy, why did you lose all your confidence when you met Mrs. Smith at the mall last time? You’ve been married to Jaysen for a while now but you haven’t even seen their house, let alone have a wedding. The first time you met his parents was at a mall of all places, and when you saw his mother, you were like a mouse meeting a cat. Madeline, dare you say you’re happy marrying him? Stop lying to yourself, your happiness is something only I can give!"

Theo’s words pierced Sienna Harrison’s ears and Jaysen Smith’s heart. Jaysen felt his entire body stiffen, his mind filled with Sienna’s words when she was trying to spare him: "How can I face your mother!"

Did he need her to explain to his mother?

But now, Theo’s words seemed to provide the best explanation, even though his mother shouldn’t be that kind of person!

Lowering his head, Jaysen’s eyes locked onto her mouth. His voice was somewhat suffocated and hoarse, "Madeline, have you met my mother?"

"Yes!"

Sienna Harrison smiled nonchalantly, "Isn’t she your mother, and thus my mother too? I’ve already called her ’mom’!"

Huh?

Her sweet smile didn’t seem to be hiding a lie, but hearing her words, Jaysen couldn’t help feeling uneasy. Was it possible that his mother had misunderstood Sienna because of Theo’s involvement and said something she shouldn’t have?

Just as Jaysen was thinking this, he heard the woman in his arms speaking coldly and indifferently, her voice directed towards Theo Scott, "Theo Scott, don’t tell me that day your wife called reporters to surround and slander me at the mall was your idea? Otherwise, I would be ashamed to have once been your girlfriend...oh, just a nominal girlfriend. Normal boyfriends and girlfriends are supposed to kiss and make love!"

Pausing for a moment, the beautiful face lifted to look at Jaysen, flirtatiously pecking the man’s chin, "So...husband, don’t be angry. He’s just here to provoke us. You know I’m innocent, right? I’ve only slept with you and only want to have babies with you. Don’t listen to people trying to sow discord between us!"

Her slender arms playfully wrapped around the man’s neck, looking as affectionate as possible. Whether it was intentional or not, it deeply wounded Theo Scott’s heart. That sweetness was once his.

Being by his side for six years, he hadn’t even had time to taste it. Now she belonged to someone else. If he said he had no regrets, it would definitely be a lie.

Especially when she said, "I’ve only slept with you and only want to have babies with you." It felt like a sharp knife tearing at his heart, the pain growing heavier with each unshakable thought, entwining all of his senses.

"But Madeline, you once told me that you’d love me for the rest of your life, only wishing to marry me, becoming one with me. If you don’t..."

As he spoke, Theo suddenly couldn’t continue. The words stuck in his throat, and his face turned paler by the second.

"What, CEO Scott, why don’t you continue?" Jaysen looked at him indifferently and asked contemptuously, "If I’m not mistaken, Madeline should have said that she only wished to marry you and be your lifelong companion. The rest of the sentence should be: ’If you don’t leave, I won’t abandon you.’ But...don’t forget, Theo Scott, the one who let her down first was you, the one who hurt her first was you, the one who heartlessly cast her into a living hell was also you!"

After a pause, Jaysen continued, "She served you heart and soul like a servant for six years, always taking care of your feelings and walking on eggshells, afraid you would abandon her because of her identity. Yet, in the end, you mercilessly turned away, not even waiting for her to heal from the pain you caused. You even sprinkled salt on her wounds, nearly destroying her completely. Theo Scott, you have the nerve to claim today that only you can provide her happiness? I salute you as a..."

As the other two speculated about the proper term, Jaysen calmly uttered the two words.

"A bear!"

Sienna Harrison: "..."

She never saw it coming, that her husband had such a talent for speaking. She’d always thought he wasn’t much of a talker and simply couldn’t keep up with her witty banter. Now she realized he’d been showing his love for her in another way. Sienna’s heart felt warm for the first time while facing Theo, with only Jaysen occupying her thoughts!

Theo Scott froze, staring at Jaysen with shock in his eyes. It turned out this man had known about everything all along, but... he didn’t seem to care that his woman had a past with Theo. Besides jealousy, there were no other emotions in his eyes.

As a man, he couldn’t believe that he’d feel this way. Most men cared about their partner’s past, especially a man with Jaysen’s status. Even he couldn’t do it, despite never having done anything physical with Sienna. It was their emotional history that should matter the most, right?

If a man had such expression it could only be because of two possibilities: either he doesn’t love her or he deeply loves her!

But then, if he deeply loved her, how could he have let Sienna remain in this state for so long without any intervention?

Theo didn’t believe that, during their time apart, Jaysen could have fallen so deeply in love with Sienna. That left only one possibility: he didn’t love her. Arranged marriages for the sake of family interests were commonplace; countless couples were bound by marriage despite their lack of love for one another.

A cold facade indoors, passion displayed to the outside world, putting on a show for others to see. So Theo was almost certain that they were in such a situation now.

"So what if I am a bear?"

With these thoughts, Theo’s self-confidence and determination to marry her rekindled, "The person she has always loved is me. I didn’t have the ability to marry her before, so I let her be free. Now, I have the ability to marry her, and I want to make her happy!"
