The CEO’s Billion Dollar Bride -
Chapter 240 - 221, The Origin Story of Ivy Aretha
Chapter 240: 221, The Origin Story of Ivy Aretha
"Understood, Mr. Gordon!"
Anna subconsciously gasped, as the answer was somewhat expected, but she was still surprised by the appellation of Mrs. Jensen for Lina Miller. Even the gossip media hadn’t guessed the relationship between the two, so Mr. Gordon’s words must be based on internal information!
"I’ll reply to Mr. Stones!"
"He really has no backbone, not daring to handle this himself, letting you be the scapegoat?" Michael Gordon smirked and looked at Ivy Aretha, then lightly laughed and spoke to Anna, "Speaking of which, my daughter just told me yesterday that she wanted to thank the lady who donated the blood last time. Tell Mason Stones to give her the opportunity! What was her name...?"
Michael instinctively wanted to say the name, but found that he hadn’t paid enough attention to remember these actresses’ names, and hadn’t thought of it: "Anyway, the blood donor was found by you, so you know the name. Tell Mason Stones to give the female lead role, which was taken from Abby Leon, to her!"
"Mr. Gordon, isn’t it a bit risky to give such an important role in a New Year’s movie to a C-list celebrity who hasn’t even played the main character?" Although she shouldn’t question Michael’s intention, Anna couldn’t help but remind him that New Year’s movies were typically high-budget productions and represented the company. Most film and television companies would choose top-notch talents, not even highly potential newcomers, let alone long-standing supporting actors.
"What’s called ’risk’ is only a matter of dollars. Let’s burn it; give her this role. I want the employees of Allure International to know that even if Abby Leon offends Mrs. Gordon, she has to leave. If someone contributes to my daughter, even if they are a nobody, I’ll be supportive!"
Michael was probably upset by yesterday’s events. He had never expected his company to produce the kind of deception he had always disapproved of. He had always advocated for healthy competition, and these people had gone too far. They even dared to plot against the CEO’s wife. They had really lived a full life!
How could he endure it!
"Yes, Mr. Gordon!"
Since Michael had said so, Anna wouldn’t say anything more. After all, their CEO had money to burn! As she was about to turn around and leave, Ivy, who hadn’t made a sound, spoke.
"Anna, I’ve looked through Ariana Hunt’s profile and watched her works. In my non-professional opinion, her acting skills and appearance are quite good. She just lacks opportunities, perhaps because her cold personality isn’t likable, or maybe she lacks someone to recognize her talent. Tell Director Stones that Mr. Gordon thinks her image is more in line with the female lead’s positioning for the new drama and wants to recommend her. Don’t mention the blood donation. She’s too proud and would disdain any opportunities gained that way!"
Such celebrities are rare in the entertainment industry these days!
After saving Bianca Aretha, Ivy had specifically looked into Ariana and had even been in charge of many of her contracts, so she was quite familiar with her situation. She should have thanked Ariana earlier, but after learning about her character, Ivy had struggled to find a suitable way to repay her. This woman was incredibly proud and had remained an obscure third-tier celebrity despite working at Allure International for so many years.
Originally, Ivy wanted to mention the matter to Michael, but after a few exchanges, they dropped the idea. Ariana was one of the most simple-minded and naive people in the entertainment industry. She always believed that as long as she worked hard, she would succeed eventually. Though it might take longer, gold would always shine.
The sense of alienation Ivy felt from Ariana was somewhat similar to that of Lina Miller: indifferent and distant but not too far away. If there was a phrase to describe their temperament, it would be "a fairy who can partake in the world’s fireworks". Just that Lina was luckier, her hard work had paid off, or perhaps it was because she had people like Mario Jensen by her side while Ariana was alone.
Ivy thought Ariana just needed an opportunity, so why bother her with worries? Moreover, she knew that Ariana didn’t have any ulterior motives when she saved Bianca, and this thought made Ivy determined to find a chance to say thank you!
If it wasn’t for the car accident last time, she would have had a chance to have a good chat with Ariana. But that accident ultimately prevented her from doing so.
"Understood, Ivy!"
Anna’s relationship with Ivy had always been good. She was the first to know about the little matter between Ivy and Michael. Knowing that Ivy liked to be comfortable, Anna didn’t change her appellation!
As Anna turned and left, Ivy wanted to return to her office, but found that Michael, who had been holding her hand, was still standing quietly in the same place. A pair of deep eyes stared at her intently, the laughter in them flaring up like a flame in her pitch-black eyes, calmly and silently: "I just realized that I seem to have found a treasure!"
After a moment, Michael felt something was off. It seemed as if it wasn’t just one, but two treasures, including a little one. Thinking about it, he still felt something was wrong with his words. After a while, he figured out that the problem lay within the phrase ’finding’.
It seemed like a lot of effort had gone into getting this woman into his household register, so how could it be considered finding? It seemed more like a carefully planned strategy!
Ivy watched him quietly, laughter spreading across her cheeks, imbued with a layer of almost dazzling light: "So, when you married me, you didn’t know I was such a treasure?"
"Ahem!" Mr. Gordon had no words to say, and after a while, he seized the opportunity to express his determination, "I wanted to marry you whether or not you were a treasure. I wanted to marry you because I loved you!"
The clear and bright light in Ivy’s eyes flickered as she gazed at him steadily. She had heard the words "I love you" many times from his mouth, but she thought that it was probably just a casual remark from a man. These days, "I love you" from a man’s mouth was the cheapest thing in the world. She never took it to heart or took it seriously, but today she suddenly wanted to believe it!
Perhaps because of the meeting with the parents tomorrow!
The next day was the weekend, and Bianca got up early, hearing that Michael was going to see his grandfather today. She had Cathy, her nanny, dress her up beautifully. Bianca also prepared gifts for Calvin Gordon, Michael’s grandfather, and asked for stories about him. Right before they left, Ivy heard Michael call the Gordon family and mention some dishes they loved, implying that the kitchen should prepare them.
When she heard this, Ivy subconsciously sighed in relief, the tension and anxiety in her nerves dissipating. As Michael could speak so casually with the Gordon family, she assumed the old man must have already been informed!
As soon as they got into the car, Sienna Harrison called. Receiving a call from Sienna on a Saturday morning was quite unusual, as she was known as a late sleeper who never got out of bed before noon on weekends. Ivy’s intuition told her that it couldn’t be good news.
