Chapter 224: 205. How did the child hide?

Ivy Aretha was pinned against the wall by the bathroom door by Michael Gordon, feeling utterly mortified. Although not many people passed by here, Anna knew Michael was around and would definitely list this area as off-limits. She was a competent secretary and was sure to do this well.

However, this was still a public place, and Ivy was not so open as to brazenly have sex with a man in such a location. She could joke around this kind of topic, but when it came to actually doing it, she couldn’t handle it!

"Michael Gordon, if you dare to be so indecent again, I’ll make you not even have room in your daughter’s bedroom, believe it or not?"

If she didn’t say anything, Mr. Gordon would feel particularly wronged. He was a normal man, with a wife, yet he could only sleep with his five-year-old daughter. Jaysen Smith and Oliver Thompson would surely laugh if they knew about this – they would think his wife was more of a hindrance than a help!

"Wife, you have the nerve to mention the matter of me sharing a bed with our daughter!" Michael looked deeply into her eyes, spreading a sense of grievance in the depths of his peach blossom gaze, displaying a pitiful attitude. "If you keep this up, I’ll be a useless man sooner or later. When that happens, how will you deal with your sex life in the second half of your life?"

Ever since Ivy had said they were not allowed to sleep together unless they had a proper wedding ceremony, this man obediently moved to the study room. Later, he said he wasn’t used to the study room and brought up the idea of borrowing half of a bed, only to be sent to Bianca Aretha’s room by Ivy.

Since then, he has been living in his daughter’s room, with a dissatisfied look on his face every day, claiming to be mentally abused by his wife. However, he only ever talked about it – after she refused, he never forced her!

Actually, ever since they registered their marriage, Ivy had been prepared for the situation where he would overpower her – after all, they were husband and wife, and she couldn’t mentally abuse him for real!

She never imagined that Mr. Gordon would genuinely retreat. Thinking about his usual appearance of restraint, Ivy remembered a word: cherish.

In the world of men, there are many who claim to love you or even show their love for you, but very few who will truly endure for your sake. Originally, she thought that Michael’s verbal love for her was much greater than what he actually felt in his heart. However, the time they had spent living together after their marriage had greatly changed her impression of him!

He seemed like a frivolous, unprincipled man, but in this matter, his behavior had still touched her. There was a debate online about whether or not to support cohabitation before marriage.

Many people who supported premarital cohabitation argued that it was the closest human interaction and could reveal a man’s true character. At the time, she had scoffed at the idea, but after just over a month, she seemed to have understood the rationale from her own personal experience.

Michael stared at this woman, seemingly lost in thought, for a long while. Just when he thought she would choose to ignore him or sarcastically accuse him of being a lustful stallion or having a lustful brain, she gave him an unexpected answer!

"Isn’t the weekend when we go to see your father?" Ivy looked up at him and met his gaze, unintentionally transforming into a deeply affectionate stare. She spoke very seriously, as if Michael’s casual teasing had been a serious topic. "You’ve held back for so long – can’t you hold on for just a few more days?"

After meeting Michael’s father, it would be as if she had received the recognition of the Gordon family. Only then would their marriage be stable. Especially since the two of them were together for the sake of their child – even if they had some feelings now, those feelings were very limited. If they couldn’t receive the support and blessings of their family, this marriage would inevitably falter as their child grew up.

Ivy, who had not grown up in a normal family, was filled with fear at the prospect of facing a new family. The most direct way she expressed this fear was her reluctance to trust him completely.

This was something Michael understood, which was why he never pressured her and was willing to wait until she was willing to give herself to him. He hadn’t been with a woman in six years and hadn’t even thought about it, so now that he had her, he wouldn’t be impatient!

Other than constantly proving to her that he was a normal man, he hadn’t done anything or planned to do anything. So when Ivy said this, Michael’s heart still trembled violently.

"Does that mean you’ve truly accepted me as a whole, since you’re only hesitating on the opinion of my father?" At this moment, Michael was overjoyed. After all, he had been deeply in love with her for a long time, and Ivy had always been indifferent about it, not taking it to heart, making it seem like she married him only for the sake of her daughter.

Ivy looked at the proud expression on the man’s face and couldn’t help but make fun of him, "Are you proud that I’m not willing to give myself to you?"

"At least it’s not because of who I am!"

This was enough to make Mr. Gordon feel proud, as he had always assumed her refusal to trust him and give herself to him was due to his past headlines and their poor public image. He had been tormented over this issue for a long time.

He even seriously checked if he exhibited any traits of a scumbag!

It wasn’t until he heard this that all his worries vanished.

"Alright, we’ve reached an agreement. Can you let me go now?" Ivy looked at his arms that were holding her tightly and spoke irritably, "I still need to attend the company party!"

Sophia Young was still waiting for her!

"A mixer?"

Upon hearing these four words, Mr. Gordon’s morale soured again. The HR Department had organized this party for those men and women within the company who only knew about working overtime, as an internal blind date event to solve the gender imbalance in the company.

"Why are you, a married woman, going to a young people’s event like this? Go home and accompany our daughter!"

Seeing her unhappy face, Michael quickly added, "Mrs. Gordon, even if you dress seductively and look your best tonight, no one at the party would dare flirt with you. They already know you’re their Boss Lady, and a pregnant Boss Lady at that. If you attend, you’ll just ruin everyone’s mood. Let’s go home!"

He had a point. After all the commotion earlier, everyone had gone to the party venue. If she were to return now, not only would the people playing there not enjoy themselves, they would probably study her like a freak, especially Sophia, who would surely blame her for keeping secrets.

Forget it, better to just go home and accompany her daughter!

Mario Jensen carried Lina Miller directly into the driver’s cab, bent down to gently buckle her seatbelt, and didn’t get up to leave. Instead, he carefully studied her pale face without makeup. She hadn’t put on any makeup today, and in addition to looking tired, she seemed a little sickly. The sight of her looking so weak and dispirited scared him a bit.

"How are you feeling now? Do you want to go to the hospital, or should we have a doctor come to the house?"

The hospital was closer, but their home was more convenient and she could rest immediately. So, Mario asked for her opinion.
