Chapter 1110: Chapter 1090 Blind Date!
Willy Smith was just about to hang up on his mother when the person on the other end beat him to it.
"You try hanging up and see what happens!"
Sienna Harrison was furious. Her son was practically rebelling, "Tonight, at Gorda Restaurant, it’s a blind date. If you dare not show up, you’re unfilial. Even little Nora obediently goes on blind dates. Are you, as her son, not even as dutiful as a daughter?"
"Wait, Mom, are you talking about Nana Jensen?"
When he heard ’little Nora’, Willy’s eyes lit up. He hadn’t been in touch with her for many years, but she had never left his mind. That faint silhouette in his heart belonged to someone else, and ever since the embarrassing night they spent in the same room at Bella Gordon’s wedding, he hadn’t seen her again.
"Of course, it’s Nana Jensen. By the way, I’ve also arranged with Auntie Lina that you two will go on blind dates together from now on. It’ll save you from feeling awkward. It’s better to have someone with you!" Sienna grew more pleased with her idea, "But if you manage to bring Nora back to our family, I would be even happier!"
She had adored the girl since the moment Nora was born. Just like Lina, Nora was a well-behaved girl. If she married into the family, there would be harmony. The Jensen family had this tradition. With a good boy like her son, marrying a girl like her would be asking for trouble—two tigers can’t share one mountain; they’d be at each other’s throats every day!
"Alright, Mom, I got it. I’m in the middle of something right now, I’ll hang up first. I’ll go to the blind date tonight!"
After hanging up the phone, Willy remained seated, unable to snap back to reality for a long time. His mind kept replaying Sienna’s words about going on a blind date together. Could she really agree to a blind date?
In his eyes, she was not the kind of woman who could be forced into a blind date!
Nana Jensen delayed leaving work until Lina called to remind her sternly, then she headed to the specified restaurant. By the time she arrived, the man was already there, clad in a distinguished shirt and trousers, seated and making a phone call, seemingly dealing with work after rushing over.
Noticing her approach, Nana slowed down and quietly took a seat across from him. He ended the call with a promise to discuss matters the next day after seeing her.
"Sorry about taking that call!"
The man gave a faint smile and introduced himself, "Hello, my name is Sam Taylor. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Jensen!"
"Hello, you can just call me Nora!"
Since her arrival, the man had been staring intently into her eyes without so much as moving his pupils. His gaze grew warmer as he looked at her. Without saying a word, Nora could still feel his intentions.
"Sorry, but I don’t know what my mother’s friend told you, I feel like I need to explain my situation to you..."
"My aunt told me roughly about your situation. I know you’re quite averse to blind dates and that you’re being forced by your family. But that’s fine. If it bothers you, we don’t have to treat this like a blind date. We can just have a meal together as friends!"
Sam had not expected Miss Jensen of the Jensen family to be so ethereally elegant. No wonder she was averse to blind dates - her beauty was a problem in itself. Blind dating would just add to the trouble!
However, if it weren’t for going on a blind date, he doubted he would ever get the chance to sit down and have a meal with her. Renowned for her aloof goddess-like persona, he had heard that virtually no man could get her to agree to a meal.
"Since this isn’t a blind date, let’s skip the meal. You were probably forced too, right?"
Hearing what he said, Nora judged he must also be someone coerced into blind dates. "In that case, we’ve met, and things are clear. I see you’re quite busy, so I won’t bother you any longer. We’ll just go back and tell our families we’re not suitable. Let’s not waste time!"
Sam Taylor: "..."
It was just that she felt they were incompatible; he, on the other hand, thought they were quite suitable!
"Well, Miss Jensen, oh, no, Nora, since you’re already here, let’s have a meal together. It’s still early, and if you go back this quickly, Auntie Lina will immediately see that you’re just humoring her!"
Sure enough, as soon as Sam Taylor finished speaking, Nana Jensen stopped insisting. He was right; Lina Miller was watching her closely these days. Going back so early would certainly make it seem like she was just going through the motions.
Since the man had said as much, Nana Jensen stopped resisting.
Starting with the meal, Nana Jensen didn’t speak again. She was always quite reserved in speech, and although she was fine in front of familiar people like Chani Gordon and the others, she was even less inclined to talk in front of strangers. Playing with her phone would have been impolite, so she simply lowered her head and quietly sipped her soup, one spoonful at a time.
The man seemed to be very interested in everything about her, bombarding her with questions nonstop. Nana Jensen answered whatever she could.
"So, Nora, I heard from my aunt that you’ve never had a boyfriend?"
"Mm!"
"Why is that?"
His curiosity deepened even more.
"I haven’t met the right person!!"
"Really? Are your standards too high?" Sam Taylor continued to maintain his focused gaze on her. Although it was intense, it wasn’t presumptuous, so Nana Jensen didn’t really have anything to complain about; she just shook her head and said that fate had not yet brought the right person.
"Actually, you could lower your standards a bit. With your good personal conditions, finding a man better than yourself in Andras City isn’t easy; the only ones more outstanding than the Jensen family are the Gordon family. The eldest son of the Gordon family is already married, so obviously that’s not a possibility. Therefore, you should aim lower, like someone like me—a small tycoon, but an ambitious man, still good!"
Nana Jensen never thought this man would be even more meddlesome than her mother. If she had known, she’d have preferred to go home and listen to her mom’s nagging. She understood the logic, of course, but she had a shadow in her heart that she couldn’t shake. She couldn’t use other men’s youth to chase away the shadow in her heart!
Such selfish actions, Nana Jensen admitted, she truly couldn’t commit to at present!
"You’re right. Once I meet the right one, I’ll definitely consider it!"
Lina Miller smiled awkwardly, "Thank you, Mr. Taylor, for the reminder!"
"But what does the right one look like for you? What specific standards? Looks, family background, character? I think looks are quite important. For a beautiful woman like you, if you found a man who wasn’t good-looking, it would be a waste of genes. For the sake of future generations, I think you should look for someone handsome, at least someone with looks like mine!"
"I think character is much more important. Whether one is beautiful or ugly, we’re all just skin over bones. Besides, nowadays..."
Nana Jensen was about to say that with the advancements in plastic surgery, being ugly isn’t permanent, but then she remembered the blind date issue Senna Leon had encountered previously and decisively kept her mouth shut, better to avoid catastrophe by saying less. "Emotions are all about fate; when fate arrives, you meet the right person. Otherwise, no matter how many standards you have, they’re just empty words!"
