Chapter 1108: Chapter 1088: Spending a Lifetime for Your Smile!
The marriage was set just like that!
The Gordon family had always believed in deciding their own marriages, and whoever they chose, there would be no objections. However, each person had to take responsibility for their own future. And so the marriage between the Gordon family and the Hayes family was decided. With all three children married, Chairman Gordon was naturally overjoyed and couldn’t stop showing off every day, proud that his son had found a good daughter-in-law and his daughter had capable sons-in-law.
With the circle being so small, his bragging directly caused the other two parties great frustration!
And who were these two?
Naturally, they were the Smith family and the Jensen family!
The Smith family had a precious son and the Jensen family a precious daughter, both not much different in age from the Gordon family’s twins.
While everyone else seemed to be getting married to their childhood sweethearts, these two couldn’t even boast of having friends of the opposite sex, leaving their parents utterly worried!
"Dad, can you talk to mom and tell her to stop setting me up on blind dates?"
Ever since Nana Jensen returned to the country, Lina Miller had set her up on countless blind dates. If it continued, she feared she’d become neurotic, so she had no choice but to seek help from her father, Mario Jensen.
"There’s nothing I can do about that. I always just follow whatever your mother arranges!"
Mario Jensen sat leisurely on the sofa, flipping through the newspaper, and casually advised her, "If you want your mom to stop pestering you with blind dates, then you’d better find a boyfriend on your own soon!"
"Dad, how can one rush these things? Love is something that happens when you’re least expecting it. Who knows, I might meet someone I like just walking down the street someday!"
"Keep dreaming. We wouldn’t feel safe marrying you off to some man from the street. Look at your Sister Bianca and Brother-in-law Roy, Rio and Senna, Chani and Zhenyu, they’re all childhood sweethearts who grew up together. That’s what’s reliable!!"
Before Fabian Nala could say anything, Lina came downstairs, her face gloomy, "I’m telling you, Nana, your attitude is all wrong. Mom is setting you up not to get you married immediately, but to give you more opportunities to meet men. You’re surrounded by women all day, clutching those design drafts, without even a chance to meet men. Mom is creating opportunities for you to encounter destiny!"
"Mom, there are plenty of men at our company, some of them are even handsome, and talented too, so there’s no need for blind dates!"
"Are any of the men at our company brave enough to chase after you? I see them actively avoiding you whenever they see you!"
After returning to the country, Nana Jensen became the Design Director at the company’s design department, which was entirely female. Of course, there were men in the other departments, but none dared to make a move on the boss’s daughter, especially considering Nana’s cool demeanor.
With beauty, pedigree, and skill, such a Goddess was practically an ethereal entity to the male employees of Jensen, far beyond any inappropriate desires!
"But still..."
"No buts. The blind dates can’t stop. It’s alright if you’re not satisfied; you’ll keep going until you are!"
Lina didn’t give her a chance to argue and laid down the order, "Just consider, has there ever been a supremely perfect man like the ones from the legends out of all the blind dates Mommy has arranged for you?"
To make these blind dates happen, Lina Miller had taken great pains, personally vetting each one. She feared another outrageous blind date fiasco like the one arranged by Senna Leon’s mother, which would only trouble her daughter and cause further dislike.
"No!"
Nana Jensen had to admit that although she had been on many blind dates since returning to the country, she couldn’t deny that all the men she met were elites of the elites. The problem was, her heart simply had no room for anyone else. The impossibility that took root in her childhood always surfaced in her mind, especially after coming back home.
She had tried dating someone to slowly forget, but she realized she just couldn’t do it. So she chose not to think about it and instead, worked hard to shift the focus of her life.
"But I don’t like them, and yet, I go on blind dates with them. I feel like this is unfair to them!"
She had already faced many men’s confessions, but she just couldn’t accept them. The only thing she could do was not to start, not to engage.
"If you don’t spend time with them, how will you know you don’t like them?"
Lina Miller’s eyebrows knitted together, and her tone softened, "Nora, mom is just asking you to try and meet more male friends. If you don’t like them, mom won’t force you, okay? I don’t want to grow old and see you still alone. Dad and I can’t take care of you forever, you’ll need someone to look after you eventually, Nora..."
"Mom, stop it, I understand. I’ll go on the blind dates!"
How could she not understand her parents’ sentiments? The Jensen family had only her as a daughter, and her mother’s two attempts at having another child were unsuccessful. Although her father was still relatively young, he would inevitably grow older. She felt that with her abilities, she could take care of herself and her parents, but they didn’t see it that way.
They always hoped their children would have someone to care for them, so she could understand!
"Good, that’s my obedient girl!"
"Well then, mom, dad, I’m off to work!"
"Okay, tell Uncle Stones to drive slowly on the way!"
Watching her daughter leave, Lina’s expression grew even more somber.
"What’s wrong, Lina? You were fine just a moment ago. Why the gloomy face? Nora agreed to go on the blind date, didn’t she?" Mario Jensen saw his wife looking worried and embraced her. "You, always worrying yourself sick. Children will have their own fortune; it’s just a matter of fate. By pressuring her, neither she nor you are happy. What’s the point?"
Lina didn’t speak, instead leaning vaguely against her husband’s magnificent chest, resting her head on him, and after a long while, she spoke again, "Mario, do you think there’s something off about our Nora?"
She had already stated her intentions and made her inquiries. Those men from the blind dates weren’t peculiar or showed any inappropriate behavior; they were just like meeting a new person. With Nora being so resistant, it couldn’t help but leave her feeling uneasy!
"Lina, what are you trying to say?"
Mario Jensen couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw her like this, "You don’t think Lina likes women, do you?"
"Based on my observations of her behavior, there are only two possibilities: one is that she has someone in her heart, pushing others away, just like I was back in the day - no matter how good others were to me, it was useless. And the second is, if she doesn’t have someone in her heart and still acts so strangely, then there must be something wrong with her mentally!"
Mario Jensen: "..."
"Lina, what on earth are you thinking? We have no specific requirements for her when it comes to finding a partner; as long as she is happy, that’s all that matters. If she has someone she likes, she can just bring him home; there’s no need to resist blind dates..."
"Then it must be something wrong with her mentally!"
Mario Jensen: "..."
