Chapter 1058: Chapter 1038: The Cunning and Scheming Little God!

"I’ll transfer the money via Paypal!"

Rio Gordon said nonchalantly as he took out his phone to make the transfer. Spending money meant nothing to him; he had no woman to spend it on, and to him, pocket money was just a number—he felt nothing for it!

But for Chani Gordon, it was a completely different story. She could never have enough pocket money to squander—always a spendthrift. She had intended to siphon some pocket money from her sister, but now that all that money was gone, she couldn’t bear it.

"Brother-in-law, my sister’s been swindling money off me—you can’t just ignore it!"

"Stop calling me that, your little ruses won’t work on me. Your brother-in-law is henpecked; he can’t even handle me!" Bella Gordon was not to be fooled by the little girl who had always been so stubborn.

"Whimper whimper whimper..."

"Stop crying. Didn’t you say your God also likes you?" Michael snapped his fingers against her forehead, "Confess to me that you’re bluffing, fervently chasing after him, with one-sided passion. If he really likes you, prove it to me now!"

It had been two years since his younger sister started the unremitting pursuit of her little God, but that man had never once properly appeared before them or acknowledged her as his girlfriend. There was even that time when she and Brother Roy caught a glimpse of him, but he never once step foot into their home.

"How am I supposed to prove it to you? He does like me!"

When it came to matters of the heart, Chani trusted her instincts, "Some people are just reserved and a bit shy, so they don’t flaunt their affection like you do, but he still likes me!"

"Chani Gordon, where do you get your confidence from? You’re not even in the same school anymore, unlike during high school, when you could stroll past him to remind him of your existence!"

Love during the student days is the purest, yet it’s also the most vulnerable. Too young, too green.

"I say he likes me, and that means he likes me. What more proof do you need?"

"Call him and tell him you lost a bet and you’re out of pocket money, then let’s see what he has to say!"

Bella admitted this whole thing was childish, but adolescence is indeed that immature. Mia Rowen had played that game countless times back in the day, yet her Brother Roy always acted perfectly every time.

"How can I do that? He’ll think I’m only interested in his money. Girls shouldn’t devalue themselves over money like that!"

That’s what Chani said, then she tilted her head and pondered for a while, only to realize she was right, "Exactly, that’s it, don’t bow down for pocket money!"

Bella Gordon: "..."

"You logheaded girl, you’re so adept at scheming against others. When I got married, you even trapped John and Nora in a room together. Why didn’t you worry about girls maintaining their dignity then?"

Ever since that ruckus, those two still felt awkward whenever they saw each other, but fortunately, they’re now not in the same school and don’t see each other often.

"Ahem, John is different; he’s not just anybody, is he? Can you even compare the two?"

"So what you’re saying is, that man is not the same as John, he’s just somebody else?" Experience speaks loudest, and with just one sentence she cornered Chani, "Chani Gordon, he simply doesn’t like you. Why do you keep running to that man’s house? Look at Brother Roy, he always comes to our house—that’s what you call liking someone!"

"Brother Roy, that’s not called liking. That’s called love, undying love!"

Their situation, that’s what was called liking. She felt her little God did like her; otherwise, a man like him would never let her get close. There are men who letting you near signifies their interest, and when she claimed he liked her, he didn’t deny it—of course, he didn’t confirm it either.

What was supposed to be a sure thing had suddenly become questionable in Bella Gordon’s mind after Bianca’s words. When Senna Leon pursued Michael, she eventually gave up and left. Although Bella wasn’t as forward as Senna in pursuing him, it was clear she was always the more proactive one.

Her so-called God seemed to just passively enjoy the attention, letting her fuss over him!

"So... what... do you want me to do to prove it?"

"Call him and tell him you lost a bet and are out of money!"

"Is that really okay?" She had never actually spent his money before, except when she sponged off his meal money in the canteen every time. "Won’t he really think I only like him for his money?"

"Have you lost your mind? With the identity of Michael Gordon’s daughter from Allure International, who in Andras City would think you like a boy for his money?" Bianca was exasperated with her, indeed love made fools of wise women. No matter how smart they were, they all turned into idiots when it came to someone they liked. "You should be worried that the average guy simply can’t afford you!"

The reason Bianca’s pocket money had never been limited, while Chani’s had, was the concern that she’d been spoiled too much by their father and that no man could afford her.

"Oh, okay then, I’ll call my little God!"

After that, she carefully took out her phone, breathed on the screen, took a deep breath and then another, before finally biting her teeth and dialing his number. The phone rang for a long time, and just when Chani thought about hanging up as he hadn’t picked up, a low and elegant voice came from the other end, "What is it? Lost a bet again?"

Since the phone was on speaker, the man’s words went straight into Bianca’s ears. Her sister’s so-called God seemed to be quite familiar with her antics, asking right away if she lost a bet, a favorite pastime of Chani.

Betting!

"Cough cough, yeah, I lost all my pocket money for the month. Looks like I’ll have to go on a diet for the rest of the days, unless you..."

You have money?

Chani just couldn’t bring herself to ask those three words.

Heh, better not!

Just as she was about to say never mind and hang up, the person on the other end spoke first, "If you lose any more weight, you’ll mar the city’s scenery and lower the standards of my classmates, so better not diet!"

"Owen Hayes, you actually dare to insinuate that I’m ugly, spoiling the city’s scenery, you scoundrel, you owe me an apology!"

Because she was skinny without needing to diet, she couldn’t stand hearing such words!

"Alright, my bad, I’ll leave the punishment to you. How about, as a punishment, I cut my pocket money for the month in half?"

Bianca: "..."

It took Chani a moment to catch on, but Bianca, much older now, realized instantly that this man was indirectly offering money to their precious little sister. It seemed that the impression she gave others was "I’m rich, I don’t care about your little money," so no guy dared to offer her money to spend.

"What good is it to me if you cut it in half? That’s no kind of apology!"

"What are you, a supervisor? I have to hand over the money before it counts, otherwise who knows whether I really cut it or not!"
