Chapter 955: Chapter 934: Things You Shouldn’t Do!
Just a moment ago, the sweetness derived from the man’s concern for her felt like a joke.
She knew full well this man had loved Bella Gordon for nearly twenty years. How could he change his heart just because of a marriage, a roll in the sheets?
Mia Rowen felt her heart contract painfully with each beat. There were ten thousand reasons she didn’t want to listen, and yet, ten thousand more why she wanted to know what this man was truly thinking.
So, Mia Rowen stood still.
The voices from downstairs were still clearly audible.
"Just keep it to your thoughts, and you, you should get along with Mia and live your life properly!" Mrs. Sanders’s voice carried a hint of a sigh and softened, "Don’t think I’m unaware that you and Mia sleep in separate rooms. If you keep this up, don’t blame me for not being polite!"
Morgan Sanders: "..."
"We don’t sleep in separate rooms. This morning, we were still together..."
"Brat, don’t try to fool me with your slick tricks, you’re my own flesh and blood, how could I not understand you?" Mrs. Sanders immediately knew her son was lying, as she had grown accustomed to hearing such lies, "Let me tell you, if you drive my daughter-in-law away, you will have to face our family’s discipline!"
"Mom, she won’t run away. When have you ever seen your son spit out the meat that’s already in his mouth?" Morgan Sanders replied while fending off Mrs. Sanders, "Aren’t you in a hurry to hold your grandson? It won’t be long before you’ll get to!"
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Sanders immediately jumped up from the sofa in excitement, "Are you serious? You’re not deceiving me, are you?"
"Mom, how could I deceive you? You’re my dear mother!"
"How many times have you lied to me before?"
Mrs. Sanders had been urging them to have a child for quite some time, "You always say that. Give me a deadline!"
Morgan Sanders: "..."
How could such matters be constrained by deadlines?
"Mom, conceiving a child should happen naturally, it all depends on your son’s abilities!" Morgan Sanders quickly calmed Mrs. Sanders down, "Also, mom, about having children, I still need to discuss it with Mia. After all, it is she who will be bearing the child. Even if you urge me, it’s no use if she’s unwilling!"
"She’s unwilling?" Mrs. Sanders’s eyebrows furrowed, and after a moment, it appeared she had thought of something, "Is it because you’re not treating her well, so Mia is unwilling to have a child for you? No, that’s not right. It must be you using Mia as an excuse, not wanting to have a child, trying to stall me, right? But that girl, I can tell, she likes you quite a bit, she wouldn’t refuse to have a child!"
Huh?
He hadn’t noticed, but she had?
If it weren’t for Bella accidentally revealing it over the phone today, he indeed hadn’t realized this girl had been secretly fond of him. With this reminder, all the past snippets he hadn’t understood before, he now understood completely!
"Mom, you can’t say it like that. Of course, I hope Mia is willing to have a child, but our marriage is still new, we haven’t enjoyed the world of just the two of us yet. If you rush us to have a child, even if I’m willing to do it for you, my dear mother, what about Mia? She just graduated from university, her wonderful life hasn’t even started yet, and you want her to stay home to bear children for me? She didn’t marry me just to produce children!"
Mrs. Sanders: "..."
So it’s she who’s in the wrong?
"What do you mean? You’ve said all this, isn’t it just that you don’t want to give me a grandchild? Somebody come here, call the young mistress down!" Mrs. Sanders got serious, "I want to ask Mia myself whether it’s her who is unwilling or you. Morgan Sanders, when did I ever teach you to push your responsibilities onto others?"
"Yes, ma’am!"
No sooner had the servant finished speaking than a soft feminine voice answered, followed by a figure in casual attire descending the stairs.
"Mom, why are you here so early?"
"Mommy missed you, dear. Come, come, Mia come here, come sit with mom!" The moment she saw Mia Rowen, Mrs. Sanders’s eyes, which had just been glaring fiercely at her son, softened instantly, "Come here, let mom see, has Morgan been bullying you?"
Morgan Sanders: "..."
Weren’t mothers-in-law supposed to be like seeing a love rival who stole their lover, the more they looked, the less they liked?
Why is it that in their family, it was the son who became the disliked one, and the daughter-in-law more favored than a daughter?
"Mom, how could Morgan bully me? I’m fine!" Despite feeling down inside, Mia Rowen still forced a smile in front of her mother-in-law, "Mom, have you had breakfast?"
"Not yet, I came to eat with you guys!"
It was only after Mia Rowen mentioned breakfast that Mrs. Sanders remembered it was breakfast time, and she then pulled Mia with her to the restaurant, asking while they ate, "Mia, dear, can mom ask you something?"
Mrs. Sanders’ words had barely landed when Mia Rowen saw Morgan Sanders rapidly winking at her, she thought that she understood what he meant, then nodded and said to Mrs. Sanders, "Mom, ask away!"
"Well then, I’m going to ask, Mia, if right now you were asked to have kids, would you be willing?"
Mrs. Sanders was always straightforward, "Mom thinks that it’s easier for the body to recover if you have children at a young age, so..."
"Mom, I’ve heard that the best age for women to have children is between 25 to 29 years old, and I haven’t reached that age yet, so let’s wait a bit longer, wait until the optimal childbearing age, and it won’t be too late to have them then. After all, babies born then will be the best!"
Having said this, Mia Rowen seriously looked at Morgan Sanders and asked, "Morgan, I’m right, aren’t I?"
Morgan Sanders looked at her with an unexpectedly deep gaze, his eyes betraying complex emotions, and after a long while, he spoke slowly, "With our genes, babies born at any time are the best. I think mom is right, it’s quicker for girls to recover if they give birth early!
Mia Rowen: "..."
Was he trying to play the good guy in front of his own mother, making her out to be the bad guy?
Piled on top of their earlier conversation, Mia Rowen felt a chill in her heart and suddenly felt so disinclined to speak. Hearing his seemingly offhand comment, she lost all interest in being the scapegoat!
She just kept her head down and slowly sipped her porridge, keeping silent. Mrs. Sanders had enough experience to notice something was amiss between the two.
"Mia, did Morgan bully you?"
As she asked, Mrs. Sanders thought it was a needless question, "Morgan, you give me a straight answer, did you do something to Mia that you shouldn’t have?"
Morgan Sanders: "..."
They were husband and wife, what could they do that they shouldn’t?
"Mom, does rolling in the bed sheets count as something we shouldn’t do?"
