Chapter 305: King Clammy’s Underwater Mole act

[30 minutes before the Dragon Outbreak]

The parking space of the King Clam was not too far away from the Halfling City and when it saw the numerous aquatic territorial monsters travelling in the same direction like school of fishes, it became suspicious.

When the last fish swam passed his hiding spot, he resurfaced and took a look to satisfy his curiosity. There the King Clam so countless ships, small, medium and in large sizes, carrying golems.

The ships were so many to the point, the smoke coming out of the funnels formed an eerie mass of dark clouds above them.

It may not be knowledgeable about schemes or how other species behaved, but all intelligent monsters had one thing in common-Survival Instincts.

And its instincts tell it that these ships were not simply going on a trip!

Are they going to the previous nymphs’ island?

But that should be wrong, since the island was in different direction.

The King Clam racked its brain until he remembered the trip last night in the place Boss called ’Atlantis’.

Could that be their goal?

King Clammy turned around to give the city a last glance.

Anyway, Boss was probably enjoying her sightseeing right now and she seems to be strangely interested in the Halflings.

If he did something good, Boss might think less of him as a food in the table and even reward him!

Therefore, Clammy decided to be an underwater mole!

His shell submerged in the deep part of the sea where there is lack of light, using the darkness as a cover and observing followed the movements of the group.

After 40 minutes, the ships started separating one by one and Clammy saw the aquatic monsters were pulling golems to the bottom of the sea.

Borrowing the language of his Boss, "It smells fishy but it’s not the fish or me. I just bathe yesterday." King Clammy breathe out bubbles to confirm its fresh lye soap breathe, "Yeah, definitely not me," before following the fishes while keeping a safe distance.

While going deeper, the temperature was rising. The fishes took shifts in transporting the golems.

In the midst, he got a better view and saw the fishes stuck the bottom half of golems inside the fissures where those red glowing stones where.

After accomplishing their jobs, the fishes left.

King Clammy leapfrogged and inspected the golems at a closer look. In the center of the chest of the golem was a spherical thing beating.

Clammy coiled its tongue around one and decided to bring one back to Boss.

Turning around, he saw every meter of fissure had golems. He better tell this to Boss. The Boss’ nose was sharper than his.

"Grandpa, is there still more? I’m still hungry." Aqua tugged the corner of Ron’s vest.

"Granddaughter, later your Auntie Rita will cook more. Just bear with it first." Ron rubbed Aqua’s head.

"Promise?" Aqua’s eyes shone.

"Promise." Ron tried his best to hide the worry in his eyes.

"Grandpa better prepare something delicious." Aqua said before running towards her playmates.

"Where’s the lady?" The oldest of the nymphs Ron rescued asked after not spotting Li Chunhua coming back with Ron.

"She had important matter to attend to." Ron replied with a low spirit, pondering on how to solve their food.

An important matter?

"You have something in your mind?" The Nymph saw him frowning and was concerned.

Ron told the nymph about the fishes dying. "Do you perhaps know of the cause, Thalassa?"

"I see but sadly, I don’t have a guess this time." The nymph replied caressing the head on the nymph that had fallen asleep on her lap. Her delicate fingers stopped for three seconds as her eyes became unfocused sensing threat in the surroundings.

When Ron heard the nymph’s reply, he was disappointed but Thalassa had helped him with so many things in the past, he was already grateful to her.

He gathered the plates and walked away and bumped into Rita busy in the kitchen.

"Ron, I was thinking..." Rita fiddled with her hands, troubled by the blessed water. "What if we leave this city?"

"And where to?" Ron looked at her before placing the plates in the sink, "Did you remember what happened last time?"

Rita pursed her lips upon painful memories resurfacing in her mind.

Last time, they tried to sneak out but failed to, resulting into some of the nymphs and halflings dying. If Ron and Rita’s group were not delayed, they would have died too. Although Thalassa didn’t say blame them, Ron was still feeling guilty for it.

"I can’t risk Aqua’s life anymore." Ron asserted his voice fragile.

Rita sighed and didn’t ask anymore. She left the room and went outside for a breather but came back after a minute.

Ron heard the knocking of his apartment door in 105. It was Rita and she said that the Mother Halfling from 405 were waiting in Rita’s apartment and looking for Ron. She didn’t want to leave unless Ron comes.

"What did she say?" Ron grumbled. He didn’t have a good impression of that Mother Halfling.

"She said to come to 405. She wanted to give you something." Rita whispered.

Ron wiped his hands on his vest before closing the door and climbing up the stairs. Rita followed him to 405 while keeping an eye.

When they reached the 405 room, the Mother Halfling was sitting on the chair wearing a stiff smile. "Ron."

Ron was bothered by it.

In the hideout after Ron was gone, Thalassa resumed in tracing the contours of the nymph’s face, thinking in deep thoughts.

----

String of runes spewing embers danced around Dranax like musical notes and a small flaming tornado emerged from the top of his staff.

The Halfling guards quickly retreated.

At the end of Dranax incantation, the five magic circles converged into one and the fire crackled and the eye of the magic circles burst with purple flames.
