Chapter 278: The Temporary Dumpling Captain

The introduction was short and very abrupt because they couldn’t stay longer as the risk of being tracked by the golems loomed above their heads.

Long Haoran carried the three by wrapping them on bundle like a new born babies before tying the bundle on his chest.

The water nymph priestess led him to a place in which she called a stronghold.

"We’re here." The priestess pressed something on the cave wall and Long Haoran saw the entire three by two meters wall slowly slid to the side and through the gap he saw a huge ship made of ice split into half.

Its size was comparable to a cruise ships he rode in some of his overseas travel, no it should be bigger than those.

He couldn’t judge the entire size of the ship because most of the ship sunk in the waters.

Siege weapons made of ice in the shapes of magic towers, ballista, trebuchet, wooden crossbows, water cannons, catapults, rams, grappling hooks, springald and scaling ladders but most of them were either damage, partly damage, or totally irreparable.

Long Haoran was able to identify them because of the floating system’s screens.

Though some of the parts had been melted and deformed, repaired by old wooden planks and polished rocks, Long Haoran could still see its glorious past.

Creatures having the same appearance as the nymph named Shillo greeted them. They were lining up welcoming Long Haoran. Sensing no hostility from them, Long Haoran didn’t place any attention any further.

A scaling ladder was set down. The priestess and Long Haoran climbed and the moment he stepped on the deck, he saw row of shallow square tanks filled of soil enclosed with wooden fences - [Basic Fields].

Is a player nearby?

More than a dozen of nymphs tended them. Green shoots grew on some, while the others already matured and is being harvested into a basket made of weaved seaweeds [Hand-woven Dried Subliminal Kelp Basket], and the rest were still being sowed.

The nymphs held their hands out and water sprinkled on the farms.

Long Haoran saw the rusted farming tools like digging and spade shovel, rake, grape hoe, sickle, pick mattock, and shears being used by the nymphs.

He wasn’t familiar with their lifestyle so he didn’t know that such things weren’t normal for nymphs who mainly absorb their sustenance from water.

A group of nymphs passed by greeting the priestess and him, through the close distance Long Haoran was able to see the harvested crops and he was slightly surprise [Carrot], [Wheat], [Cabbage], [Tomato], [Potato], [Sweet Potato], and [Cucumber] but the skins and leaves of the crops were shriveled indicating the quality of their harvest might not be good.

Shillo noticed Long Haoran’s gazes on the raw vegetables. "You must be hungry. I’ll let someone cook you a meal."

"No need. I’ll make our own. Can I use your kitchen instead?" Long Haoran didn’t accept their offer and decide to use his own supplies.

Shivani didn’t insist. The Champion might have richer resources just like the previous one. She asked someone for a torch before leading the Champion to the kitchen, below the deck of the destroyed Main Mast, near the hull of the ship.

Shivani had a melancholic expression as she visited the kitchen remembering some memories.

The walls, floor, and ceiling of the room was fortified in thin sheets of metal. There was a sink, with a faucet, a granite countertop, below were the rows of wooden cabinet.

A traditional earthen stove with two holes was built against the wall on his left connected to an earthen pipe which dispels the smoke through the dorade vents besides the funnels on top of the upper deck.

Near the stove was one meter tall grill and judging from thick scorched marks on the cooking grids, it was used frequently.

On the center of the room was a table and on the walls were shelves with pots, pans, knives, wooden bowls and plates, a granite quern, and sealed jugs neatly placed on them.

The very odd coincidence was the layout except for the color scheme was similar to one in Xiao Hua’s residence.

The more Long Haoran looked, the more he found it very similar.

"Champion, is there something wrong or lacking? I’m sorry if they look old but they’re the only things we have." Shivani spoke pulling Long Haoran’s attention back.

"It’s fine." Long Haoran gave a small nod and entered the kitchen, temporarily setting aside the unsettling feeling.

It was at this time, the three gluttons woke up and when they initially saw the kitchen, they had thought they went back to the Salted Fish Territory but the glimpse of the blue skinned creature standing on the kitchen door shattered their dreams.

After narrowly escaping the golems, the three gluttons already adjusted their mentality.

"Are you cooking Handsome Chef?" Little Mantou asked with an eager voice.

"Wait for a while." Long Haoran’s answer made the three beamed smiles.

"Kya."

"ji ji ji."

Shillo left the Champion and walked back to the upper decks.

After ten minutes, smoke came out of the vents carrying a delicious scent. The nymphs working on the fields sniffed and swallowed their saliva.

Those that were digging tunnels, extracting stones and patrolling the surroundings were also attracted and unconsciously followed the scent.

During night time, Li Chunhua synthesized torches. She drilled holes on the deck of the ship to stick the bamboo poles before tying the torches the top with a hemp ropes.

Thankfully the wind was not strong.

The nymphs didn’t have an industrialized life and the light they used from luminous pearls produce by a certain species of domesticated clams, but because of the mutation, those clams’ pearls became harmful.

She only managed to make two turrets which contained the funnels, the mast and monitoring room. It still lacks a sail and boiler room. Unless these nymphs had dharma wind spell, this ship would not have mobility.

A main deck was made below the upper deck which contained the accommodation of the crew and the Temporary Dumpling Captain.
