Chapter 266: An Underwater Cave

River should have a shallower depths but this planet doesn’t conform to common sense.

(A/N: The deepest river in the world was called Congo and it was about 729 feet deep.)

The Respiration skill was very useful and even if she opened her mouth, there was no problem but the taste of the river was weirdly very salty.

Tier 2 monsters would only show until much later. Having a chance to eat them this early on means that there is high chances that the crack of the barrier is somewhere near here.

The current in the shallow surface was quite strong because there was a narrow channel upstream. Li Chunhua had to use qi on her arms and legs and turned herself onto boat rotor and followed the whirlpool while keeping a safe distance.

The rope was also reinforced with a layer of qi to avoid getting snap and lost her way back to the top.

As she dive deeper down, the force of the current became weaker but the light became less and less. The temperature also became chillier. Ordinary players without cold resistance would suffer de-buff.

Her vision could perceive the faint shadows and silhouettes but there was no single monster so far.

Could all of them be eaten by that giant squiddy?

50 meters...100 meters...150 meters...

She saw something moved in the darkness and a cold, thin and slightly thorny thing something wrapped both of her ankles.

If one was to look very closely, its hair-like thorns extended by another inch and the tip tried to pierce Li Chunhua skin to inject an anesthetic substance, but even the protagonist’s pan made from the highest quality forging material only inflicted 2 points of damage, and so all the thorns broke before it could succeed.

When plan number 1 failed, the entity hiding commanded all other of its limbs to coil around the prey but before they reached Li Chunhua, the latter tug the one coiled on her ankles.

The entity couldn’t utter a single cry and was uprooted, losing its life in an instant.

Li Chunhua heard a sound and a part of the wall on her left was demolished. She swam to her right and avoided the rocks crumbling and falling.

[You’ve got 450 experience points.]

Experience points?

She used her appraisal skill on the thing on her hand.

[Toxic Subliminal Kelp Level 15 (0/2500)]

So it was a monster...

After a second, the remains of the seaweed became loot.

Items inside tiny bubbles slowly floated.

Li Chunhua caught them.

[You’ve got 350 copper coins.]

[You’ve got a unit Subliminal Kelp Spores.]

The description stated that the spores can be released in contaminated bodies of water, it can absorb the toxicity and stored in its leaves.

[You’ve got 3 units of Non-Toxic Subliminal Kelp (250 g)]

Li Chunhua never had kelp before but the memories of the original owner depicted it was delicious and can be made into pickles, salad, and soup.

After a short stop, she encountered a dozen of the same species of kelps and [Level 13 Sneaky Red Algae] that can use underwater stealth and uproot itself to launch a sneak attack by attaching on the prey’s neck and absorbing blood.

Mostly of them were growing on the walls, Li Chunhua swam to the center to reduce the chances of encountering them.

She obtained another 23, 940 experience, 16780 copper coins, another unit of spores and an algae which had the opposite effect of the kelp, 10 units of non-toxic kelp and 5 units of Red Algae (250g), 20 bronze-grade gears and a skill scroll- [Underwater Stealth-C-Level].

(A/N: Red Algae can be made into the Nori, the one used in sushi.)

This skill allows her to be a disappearing Water Houdini for the span of 3 minutes with the expense of 60 Mana points and has CD of 30 minutes.

She learned it and effects increased by 1000% or 30 minutes with an additional 200% mana cost.

After spending 10 more minutes, she finally reached the river bed and the tail of the whirlpool connected to a pitch black hole, and the temperature was less than -70 degree Celsius.

Li Chunhua searched for another entrance to avoid getting sucked in to another place but when she saw none, she decided to gamble.

Her bangle turned to a red gold-gilded spear. She took out another batch of rope, tied the end of to the hilt of the spear before swimming to the wall and stabbing until two-thirds of the spear sunk. She tied the other end around her waist.

The bangle: Where are you going? Are you leaving me behind because I eat too much? Master you can’t do that! We’ve been through so much! And this is how you repay me?

Li Chunhua: You think too much. I’m just going to check on something. Be sure to hold on the rock or else we’re both screwed.

The bangle: What’s so good about that hole? I see nothing valuable in it.

Li Chunhua: I got an idea. How about you go in my stead and you tell me what you see inside and I’ll pull you afterwards?

The bangle: Master, I suddenly found the spot very cozy. I’ll wait you until you finish your sightseeing.

Li Chunhua: But the idea was feasible though and the risk is low.

The bangle: Master, even I go inside there, I can’t move around and my trip would be useless. And what if I get stuck at the walls of the hole?

Li Chunhua contemplated on it and chose to head down herself making the bangle feel relief.

If the giant squiddy can appear in a low-level map, the other monsters more powerful than it can also invade and the low-level monsters used for grinding levels will be wiped out, making the players’ levels get stuck.

"Ancestor, please watch over me. I’m just doing something good." Li Chunhua took a deep breath to brace herself before swimming towards the whirlpool and she instantly found herself spinning and plummeting at a fast rate.

She closed her eyes as the spinning continued for 3 more minutes before the water was calm.

When she opened her eyes, she saw an submerged underwater cave entrance. Li Chunhua checked the ropes and thankfully they were still wrapped around her.

Bangle: Master, how about it? Are you already down there?

"I am." Li Chunhua answered in her mind and slowly swam into the entrance.

Bangle: What do you see?

Li Chunhua saw nothing worth taking notes until she saw a golden light at the end of the cave tunnel and she felt the familiar energy circulating around.

I saw a light.

Although the energy it was very faint, she could still sense it. It was qi essence.
