Chapter 78: Ch 78: Too Far-gone - Part 2
"Do you want to give up? Your body will not last if you continue like this. Don’t worry so much. We will have more heats to spend together later. Why don’t you go to sleep for now? You need all the rest you can get."
A hand covered Anabella’s eyes as her body shivered from the strain she put upon herself.
She felt stretched out, and her muscles ached. It almost felt like she had run a marathon, but she was not ready to run.
The heat was not going down, and the relief came to her in patches before it all went dark.
The last thing Anabella remembered was the sharp prick of a needle hitting her neck before it all went dark for her.
Sleep claimed her as drugs made their way through her system, and then she was out cold.
"-We should have done this from the start-"
That was the only part of the conversation Anabella heard before her eyes closed and her consciousness faded away.
Her annoying heat was gone when she woke up, and she felt as good as new. She remembered bits or pieces about what had happened to her, but just thinking about it made her face burn.
Anabella was as red as a tomato when someone entered the room and placed a plate of food in front of her.
"You should eat something to replenish your energy. You had a rough day, and I do not want you to collapse because you did not eat after your cycle.
Besides, you also need to flush out those pills from your system as soon as possible, or they will start having side effects soon. I gave you a stronger-than-normal doze since you looked like you were in pain."
Clair spoke in an almost panicked voice (or what felt like a panicked voice, anyway), and Anabella also tried to control her reaction.
It was...a little difficult to look at her friend. (Are they still friends after what happened? Or had a line been crossed between them?) after what just happened.
Anabella was no longer sure how to treat Clair after they had spent the night together. She was just thankful that Noah was not here at the moment....
"Clair, is Anabella awake? Oh good! It is nice to see that you are finally conscious again. Do you need something? Water? Juice? Anything else?"
Noah walked through the open door not a second after Anabella was done, feeling relieved. This almost made her yell out in fright, but she controlled her actions and took a deep breath.
"I...did my heat-"
Anabella wanted to speak, but her mouth felt dry. Her instincts told her that this was not a topic she should initiate to talk about. But her desire to know more overpowered her desire to stay quiet.
Staying quiet had not worked out for her, so she wanted to clarify things.
The alpha pair exchanged a glance over her head, and their eyes seemed to be communicating about something.
Clair was the one to answer her, and she had an almost embarrassed flush on her face when she did.
"Don’t worry too much about it. Your heat was bad, so we helped you out. Once I was sure you were more stable, I gave you a tranquilizer to help you sleep. You don’t have to think much of it if it bothers you so much."
Clair assured the omega to lessen her worries, but it had the opposite intent of what she wanted.
Anabella’s heart sank as realization stuck with her.
’Did I force my friends to spend a heat with me when they did not want to? Fuck! Just what did I do? And why did I do this? No, more importantly, what do I do about it now? I finally got my friends back. I don’t want to feel awkward around them.’
The omega felt in a difficult position. What happened made her feel guilty, but she could not say she regretted her actions.
Her conflict showed clearly on her face, but she tried her best to keep it under wraps.
Not that it helped out much. Her face showed clearly how she felt about all this.
*Sigh*
"Bella, stop overthinking about everything. I told you this was not your fault, so you don’t need to think it was. If we did not want to help you, we would have found another way to do this."
Noah’s voice sounded close, and when she looked at her side, she could see how close the male was to her.
It made Noah’s alpha scent reach her nose, and Anabella felt her cheeks go pink.
She wanted to speak, but her mouth felt like cotton. She could not talk, much less try to convey how she felt.
In the end, the moment when she needed to speak up passed before Anabella could take any action, and she was forced to keep her mouth shit the whole time after.
She looked at her phone for a distraction, only to flinch once she noticed the date and time.
"Did my heat last three days? I can’t tell if it is a good thing or bad. Maybe I should go to a doctor to get checked out..."
Only after she said these words did Anabella remember that Clair was a well—respected doctor. She would be the perfect person to ask about this.
But Anabella’s instincts wanted her to avoid the alpha.
She felt confused about Clair’s words and actions. She did not want to put extra meaning behind what Clair did for her, or she was afraid she would be disappointed again.
Ultimately, all Anabella could think about was returning home and forgetting all this happened.
"I should head back home. Now that my heat is over, I should return to my regular lifestyle."
The dream was over, and it was time to return to reality. Anabella needed to face the truth of what happened and get over her crush on her friends.
