Chapter 60: Ch 60: Staying out - Part 4

The teacher sounded worried for Anabella, and for good reasons.

She was unsure what was going on with Anabella and her husband, but she could tell that the omega had not bonded with her husband.

It was still possible for her husband to take on another person as his partner if he wanted to, and that person could turn out to be this spoilt female she had captured.

If that were the case, the teacher would get into trouble. She needed to make sure that didn’t happen.

For that reason, she encouraged Anabella to make her move.

However, contrary to what the teacher thought, this was not a love triangle. There is not even romantic affection between Anabella and her husband.

Anabella wanted to tell the teacher this, but she knew that if the truth came out, it would damage her image.

So, she just smiled at the teacher before she went toward James to grab him.

"Well, things will sort themselves out. I am happy with what I currently have, and I also want to thank you for calling me today. I should take my leave now."

The teacher did not look happy, but Anabella ignored that pained look as she extended her hand toward James for the kid to grab.

"James, we should get going for now. Someone else will come and grab Sharon later. Don’t worry! She won’t be behind bars for long."

Anabella assured the kid, but James still looked worriedly at Sharon.

He wanted to apologize to her for what had happened and for being unable to defend her instantly. But even now, he doubted he could open his mouth and speak up about it.

His face showed a struggle, and Anabella felt sorry for the kid. She picked him up and decided to take him away. That was the least she could do at the moment.

"Did father come to pick me up with you?"

James asked as soon as Anabella walked out with him, but he got his answer without Anabella answering him.

Clair and Noah stood before them, and James paused as soon as his eyes fell on the pair.

"Well, I did not get to call Daniel before I came here. I think he was too busy to pick up the phone today. So, you can spend the rest of your day with me and my friends. That is the only choice we have.

I don’t feel comfortable sending you back home to be alone."

Anabella did not use to have this problem when they had the previous caretaker with them. But with Sharon in police custody, Anabella had no choice but to take the kid with her.

"Is James coming with us? Well, I don’t mind. I have a lot prepared, and others would love to meet your step-son."

Clair smiled at the kid, likely to put him at ease, but the young alpha felt weirded out by that smile.

He knew this was Clair’s way of putting his mind at ease. But he could not help but feel annoyed when he saw that smile.

Seeing how the kid did not want to play nice with her did nothing to dampen Clair’s spirit. She opened the door to let Anabella and James into the backside while she got into the front seat.

The car had been aired a little, but that did nothing to eliminate all the alpha pheromones that lined the inside.

The ride felt tense, and no one knew what topic of conversation to start. Anabella tried to speak, and finally, her efforts paid off.

It turned out that Noah and James had a lot of common interests (it surprised Anabella, but it also somehow felt right to know that Noah had childish interests even at his age.)

What happened at the school was forgotten until Daniel called Anabella. But that conversation did not last even a few minutes before the alpha was tuned out, and Anabella returned to her sleepover.

She would deal with her husband once she went home. Until then, he would have to deal with his curiosity all alone.

Daniel was having a busy day.

He had turned off his phone since he had a lot of meetings, but he had kept all the emergency numbers on call.

Halfway through his meeting, his phone went off, but he did not pick it up. He was sure that if it were urgent, then he would be called again.

And since Daniel was not called again, he took it as a sign that it was unimportant.

The alpha did not have Anabella’s number on the line, so he never got her call and went about his day.

Daniel only started to get worried about something being wrong when he did not get Sharon’s call throughout the day.

It made him open his phone to call her, only for an unknown person to pick her phone up and tell Daniel that his lover was in custody. Hearing what happened made Daniel see red, but he controlled his expression.

He did not know which person he could even get angry with since he was paying the school for this reason.

Daniel paid Sharon’s bail and then called Anabella to chew her out.

She should have been the one to pay Sharon’s bail and get her out.

Anabella picked up his call, and Daniel exploded on her.

"You should have gotten Sharon out of the jail if you knew she was there-"

"My accounts are frozen, and you did not pick up the call when I called you about it. You have no one to blame but yourself. Now, I need to go. Take care of this yourself. And also, James is with me, so you don’t have to worry about him."

Daniel’s insides felt hot with anger but also shame.

In his anger, he had forgotten all about his son and what could have happened to him.

All Daniel had been worried about was Sharon and her safety.
