Chapter 52: Ch 52: Intruders are not taken lightly - Part 2

Everyone arrived at that situation, and Daniel’s first concern was to check if Sharon was alright.

"Sharon, what happened? Did the cleaner do something to you? If so, then we can file a complaint with her company and get her fired-"

Daniel cupped Sharon’s face to get her to look at him. He only had eyes for Sharon and would do anything to calm her down.

He was well aware that the cleaning lady was not at fault here. She was just doing her work and ensuring everything was handled.

But Daniel could not afford to risk triggering his lover again. That was why he pressured the cleaning lady, who looked ready to faint at any given second.

She was already shaking in her boots because of what happened, stressing her out even more.

"M-Master, I did not-"

The lady started to speak, but her words were cut off halfway through her plea. As a result, she hiccupped, and her eyes watered.

She felt that no one would be on her side now that she had been caught in this awkward position, but she was proven wrong when the lady of the house stood in front of the beta and shielded her.

"Daniel, take Sharon out of here and calm her down. I have called this caretaker and will not hear anything against her when she has done nothing but her duty. Even you know that our house is a mess."

It was not often that Anabella spoke up, and she was hardly firm like this. But she spoke up this time since someone else was involved in this mess.

Her insistence made Daniel frown, but he knew that Anabella was right.

As much as Sharon wanted to cause a scene, this was not an appropriate target for her to vent her anger.

"Sharon, we should head inside now. I will listen to what you have to say and help you out. What do you say? Will you forgive this beta for now and come with me?"

Daniel asked in a low voice, and Sharon nodded in agreement. The pair led Sharon out of the room but left James behind.

The kid looked awkwardly at his father’s back as it disappeared.

He wanted to join them, but he also felt that he would be an obstacle

"James, do you want to go after your father? Now is the only time."

Anabella pointed out, but the kid looked content to stay behind like this.

"No, it’s fine. I do not want to disturb them from spending some time together. On that note, can I stay with you for the day? I am free, and I do not want to be alone."

Being alone was tiresome, making James regret not having school that day.

Anabella felt sorry for the kid, so she decided to take pity on him and allow him to be with her for the day.

Something bothered the kid, but he did not want to share it with her. And if James did not want to share, Anabella did not want to force the kid to share with her.

She felt that James would talk to her when he was ready.

"Uhm, what do you want me to do now? Should I continue cleaning?"

The cleaning lady finally caught her breath before she asked this question.

Ideally, she would not want to continue and just want to head back home, but she needed the money offered here.

She had bills to pay, and Anabella quoted a lot of money to get this place cleared.

As much as Anabella reminisced about what happened, she also needed this place clean. The cleaning lady seemed to have caught herself quite well and was back to normal now.

"If you are sure you can continue, then do so. But you are free to take a rest if you want to."

Anabella did not stop the lady from cleaning up this place. She also felt it was a good distraction for the lady to get her mind off things.

James was the only one who did not like what was happening, but he kept his mouth quiet and let things happen.

Despite what happened, the cleaning lady did well, and Anabella added a few extra hundred dollars.

It made the cleaning lady ready to cry, and she suddenly felt glad that she had not given up on this home.

Once the cleaning lady left, it was time for dinner. But Daniel and his partner were nowhere to be seen.

Anabella felt she wouldn’t be seeing that pair for the night, so it was up to her and James to cook something and eat it.

"Should we order out?"

James looked annoyed at Anabella’s suggestion, which lasted momentarily before he masked it.

"If that’s what you want to do, then I do not mind eating out either."

James spoke one thing, but his eyes said another. His look convinced Anabella to reconsider taking out and cooking something.

Unlike most children raised in households like hers, she knew how to cook and had made complicated dishes before, but she did not love the process.

’Desperate times call for desperate measures. I guess there is no harm in cooking once in a while.’

Anabella sighed and decided to take matters into her own hands this time.

"You know what? How about we get cooking today? You should know how to make simple meals, and we can work on something new for dinner. I know a few dishes we can make quickly."

Anabella offered, and the kid looked stunned.

"You want me to help you out as well? What if we mess this all up? What are we going to eat?"

James looked worried, and Anabella could not help but think of the kid as cute.

"Don’t worry! If we mess up, we always have the option of getting some take-out later. For now, let’s try to make something edible on our first try."

Anabella held her hand out, and the kid took it with much hesitation.
