Chapter 37: Ch 37: Ignorant People - Part 3

Anabella arrived just in time to save that poor man from dying. Noah did not look happy to do as he had been asked to, but he did not argue with Anabella when she asked him to drop the man he was holding up.

"Tsk"

That was all Noah’s response as he dropped the young alpha back on his feet, but the unsteady alpha could not hold on, and he lost his balance.

Lying on the ground, all sprayed out like this was humiliating. But the alpha seemed to have no idea who he was and what he was doing here.

It made Anabella feel sorry for the unknown alpha, and she almost kneeled beside him to ask if he was fine.

But as soon as Anabella approached the area, Clair grabbed her arm and pulled her away.

"We should get going now. My mood had been soiled, and I no longer wanted to play. The same can be said for Noah."

Noah was still glaring daggers at the alpha he had subdued, and his pheromones also saturated the area in a way that told everyone that he was ’marking’ this as his territory.

It made Anabella shiver to feel those heavy pheromones that felt pissed. But Clair’s soothing scent helped her out.

’At least one alpha is helping me out. I should consider myself lucky for this.’

Anabella breathed a sigh of relief once she was out in the open. Noah arrived soon after, but he no longer smelled of irritated pheromones.

"Have you gotten yourself under control now? You should not have lost your cool like that. Here, have something to drink."

Clair gave the taller alpha a can of juice, which Noah took but did not open. His hand was big enough to close around the can easily, and it made Anabella wonder what else those huge hands could do.

’I bet they can easily close around my waist and hold me...bad thoughts. This is not the time to be having those thoughts.’

If she could, Anabella would have thrown her head against the wall to injure herself and get a concussion. However, since that might have labeled her as ’insane,’ she held her desire back.

Instead, she focused on what was happening before her, and Anabella blinked as she paid attention to the pair.

"So, would one of you care to tell me what happened? Why were you fighting with an unknown person out in the arcade? You even threw your hands at them. Did that man cheat against you or something?"

Anabella asked in a joking manner. Even she knew her friend would not throw hands at someone just because he lost a game...maybe.

Anabella knew people from a year ago, and a lot had changed. She could no longer confidently say that she was right about the pair.

Still, Noah did not strike her as a man who let this emotion control him. He was mostly calm and collected, and Anabella appreciated that about him.

’Just what could make someone like Noah lose his mind.’

"Let it go, Bella. You do not need to hear what happened. Just know that Noah was in the right this time and forgive him. So, where do you want to go next? Have you decided?"

Clair was quick to change the topic of the conversion and also provide an excuse for her lover.

As much as Anabella wanted to keep pressing this topic, she realized it would be better to change it when she had the chance.

’Fine! I can always ask what happened later. I should tell the pair that I am leaving for home.’

Anabella kept many secrets from her pair, and her relationship with her family was one topic she did not like discussing openly.

By now, the alpha pair surely knew that Anabella and her family were having a problem, but they had never asked for any specifics, and the omega wanted things to stay that way.

"Ahhh, about that..."

Anabella’s nervous laughter was a dead giveaway that she felt anxious about something. But neither of the pair pressured her to tell them what happened. This gave Anabella time to analyze what she wanted to tell them.

Ultimately, Anabella decided to tell the pair half what she needed to.

"I need to start heading home now. Mother said she was coming for dinner, and no one else knew. I need to start on the preparations. I can ask the caretaker for this, but I would feel much better if I were there in person to review things.

You know how my mother is. She wants everything to be perfect. Don’t worry! I had fun today, and I would love to hang out more. Just.... not right now."

Anabella looked conflicted and wouldn’t want to head back if possible.

But now that she has spoken about returning, she could not stay even if she wanted to.

The alpha pair exchanged a glance before their smiles came back to their face.

"It’s fine. We were also getting tired and needed to head back home soon. Do you want us to drop you off on the way?"

Noah asked in an easy-going voice. His earlier violent self was nowhere visible, and it made Anabella breathe a sigh of relief.

She could take public transport but did not want to take it in front of the pair.

"Yeah, we will drop you off. It won’t be much of a problem, and the place you are headed to will fall on our way home today."

Clair made it sound easy, and Anabella asked no more questions.

She was sure that the pair lived on the other side of the town, but they could have moved when they moved in together.

On that note, she had no idea what happened in the year she had not seen the pair, and it felt awkward to ask any personal questions at this point.

So Anabella kept quite and she reached home in that silence.
