Chapter 28: Ch 28: You stink - Part 1
"Head up and take a bath for now, Sharon. I will take care of things for you in here."
Daniel promised as soon as he made up his mind.
Sharon looked at him with her vulnerable expression that hit too close to home, and Daniel flashed her a reassuring smile before patting her back and sending her ahead.
His smile remained calm for as long as Sharon was in the room, but it dropped down his face as soon as his lover was gone.
"Father, I need to talk to you about what happened. I-It was not Anabella’s fault-"
"James, I don’t want to hear anything right now. I am so mad that I feel like I might snap at even you because of this. So, before I do that, please leave."
Daniel warned his son, who suddenly looked uncomfortable and tried to look away. However, despite his best efforts to calm his heart down, James could not.
Especially since he knew his father was serious about punishing Anabella for something she did not even do.
"But father, listen to me-"
The older man pretended he had not heard his son’s pleas and used them to gratify his anger even more.
He had a lot to do and calls to make. Daniel was someone who paid humiliation back with humiliation. Right now, his target was Anabella.
It did not matter if he and his family also lost their honor. It was all acceptable as long as Sharon felt better about it.
This was how much Daniel loved Sharon, and he wanted to express it.
...
"This will not end well. I could tell that Sharon felt insulted by what you did to her."
Anabella pointed out as she watched the female running out of the room as fast as she could. She had never seen such a scene, and seeing it felt amusing.
But as amusing as it was, it also left Anabella with many problems to deal with, especially when it came to her husband and his temper.
’Knowing Daniel, he will not take this insult lying down. I better get ready to counter whatever bullshit he is about to come up with.’
Anabella sighed, regretting letting what had happened unchecked. She could have prevented it if she had known what she was doing.
"I don’t like that troubled expression on your face. Would you like to share what made you feel like that?"
Noah asked as soon as he noticed the unhappy expression on Anabella’s face. Her lack of a smile felt concerning to him.
"About that...I am just thinking about all the trouble this will cause me. Daniel is not forgiving, so I am sure he will cause some trouble for me soon."
Anabella confessed all of it. She felt at ease with Noah since he was a childhood friend and someone who had seen her at her lowest.
He looked concerned, and that made Anabella feel a little bit better.
But the words that came out of his mouth were not ones Anabella expected to hear so soon.
"Do you want me to take care of those two for you? It might be a little difficult to end Daniel peacefully, but I am sure I can silence anyone who speaks about him. As for James, you can adopt him.
The kid looked like he would understand and agree that it was necessary...why are you giving me that concerned look? What did I do?"
Noah asked in a low voice, and it halted whatever thoughts Anabella had behind her mind.
Still, it felt like a command, and Anabella felt compelled to answer him.
"I never expected to hear you talking like this. But as much as I appreciate your offer to help me out, I would like to ask you to refrain from murdering my husband and making me a widow."
Anabella joked around but saw the serious look in Noah’s eyes again. He was seriously contemplating doing what he had been asked not to do.
Thankfully, he changed his mind soon and looked away from Anabella with a sheepish look.
"I won’t do it if you don’t want me to. But if that guy messes with you once more, he is done for. Just signal me, and I will care for him and his mistress."
Noah was not joking around; he was dead serious when he told Anabella about this.
Luckily for her, he did not press her around for more time, and he quietly spent time with her.
There was no extra conversation, and the medicine knocked Anabella out for the rest of the day. The next morning, it was finally time for her to be discharged.
The one who came to do the honors was none other than her husband, whom she did not want to see.
Daniel looked uncomfortable, but his eyes were looking serious. He was heading toward Anabella with a purpose, and the only reason Anabella did not start running was because this was a public place.
There were more paparazzi, her family, and Daniel’s family. Clair was also here along with Noah (the most reassuring part), so Anabella felt safe despite the anger she saw in Daniel’s eyes.
"Let’s go home now. James is waiting for us in the car."
Daniel kept his words short and crisp. He was not even looking at Anabella, but he was looking past her at everyone else. He was considering what to do and how to exact his revenge.
The alpha had extended his hand toward Anabella, but she did not want to take that hand. But what choice did she have when so many people looked at her?
So, forcing herself to smile, Anabella placed her hand in her husband’s and allowed him to drag her out of that mess.
The pair only took a few steps before Daniel’s hand tightened around his own, and he spoke.
"Since when did you start using perfume? And a stinky one like this doesn’t suit you. Do you want to make me and James sick? You stink right now."
