Chapter 27: Ch 27: Which side to choose? - Part 2

’This is ridiculous. Who is this alpha, and how is he so strong? I don’t even think Daniel has pheromones that are so strong, and he is a dominant alpha. Ugh, breathing is so hard right now.’

Sharon gripped her throat to get more air into her system, but it was useless, and she felt faint.

From what she could see through his blurry vision, she was the only one with a problem.

"J-James, we should head back now. Anabella has a friend with her-"

Sharon tried to reason with her ’son,’ but James was not having it. An unconscious growl left James’s throat at those words, and he quickly denied his ’mother’s orders.

"NO! I do not want to leave. I cannot allow Anabella to stay alone with this man! It won’t be right."

James spoke harshly, and his eyes kept flashing between irritation and calmness. It seemed impossible for him to calm down, but it worsened Sharon’s internal alarms.

’Why is James suddenly so concerned about that fake? I am his mother, so shouldn’t he be paying attention to him? I cannot lose him at this point.’

No matter how much Daniel confessed that he loved Sharon, he would choose his son 10/10 times if the choice was presented to him. To James, nothing was greater than the memory of his ex-wife and what she left him.

As such, no one could replace James - the one gift the love of Daniel’s life gave him. The best Sharon could hope for was second place.

That was what she did. She charmed the father-son duo and ensured they were both in her grasp.

’I need to do something. Perhaps, if I pretend that I am sick, James will leave with me.’

Sharon grabbed her stomach and her mouth, pretending as if she was about to vomit. Her eyes also looked distressed, causing James to turn toward her finally.

"Mother, are you alright? You look sick! Can I help you-!"

James asked, but the older alpha interfered before Sharon could say anything.

"Your mother is fine! Or, she will be if she just goes out of that room and checks herself here. We are at a hospital, after all. Hmm, I can do one even better for her. I will call the current director and have her checked-"

"There is no need for that. I am just upset because it is ’that time’ for me. I will take my leave now. James, let’s head back. Daddy is waiting for us back home."

Sharon extended her hand for the young alpha to take, but she did not expect the delay she faced when she looked at him.

James’s expression was conflicted when he looked at his mother, and then he turned his face toward Anabella with a longing expression.

"Mother, do we have to leave? I want to stay here for a bit longer-"

James asked, but Sharon finally had enough. She grabbed James’s arm for the first time to drag him out.

"We need to go now, James. Do you want me to leave you here all alone with these strangers? You won’t have a way to get back home, and your father will always worry about you."

Sharon manipulated James even when she dragged him out.

The more James heard all this, the wider his eyes got until they could not widen anymore. His expression made it seem like he was about to cry any second now, but Sharon ignored it and instead dragged the kid out.

"You are always welcome to come back here any time, James. I will be home tomorrow, so you don’t need to worry."

Anabella yelled as Sharon pulled James out. The kid looked slightly relieved after hearing what she had to say before they got excited.

"Mother, you promised-"

James spoke softly as soon as he fastened his seat belt. He looked disappointed in his mother and what had happened, which caused him to cry.

But the older woman could only sigh in regret and annoyance. Her eyes looked sorry but resolute.

"I know! I tried hard to keep my promise of not acting up, but those people forced my hand. You saw how they looked at me. I could feel their dark desires to end my life. I had to run out of there as soon as I could."

Sharon broke down and cried in her hands. She looked devastated that her son was not on her side, which made James feel guilty.

’Perhaps this is all my fault. I asked my mother to be here, even when I knew she was uncomfortable coming here. I need to be more understanding of her and her situation.’

James bit his lips as he looked at his mother.

Although he did not agree with what she had done, he understood it all the same. Therefore, he decided to stay quiet and follow his mother out and back home.

His father was already there and waiting for the pair. As soon as Sharon saw him, she threw herself in his arms and sobbed.

Her body still had the threatening scent that Noah had used, and she was shivering in fright.

The alpha felt his body go cold, and his heart grew more troubled. He immediately asked Sharon what was wrong.

"I...I did not do anything wrong, and yet, this happened. Daniel, my pride has been hurt as an omega because of Anabella. I was so kind to her and even visited her, only to be humiliated like this. You have to take revenge for me."

Sharon begged with a pair of begging eyes. Those got to Daniel, and he felt a surge of rage toward Anabella.

’How dare she do such a thing to someone love. It seems that jealousy and favor have made her blind to the world. I will need to set her straight soon.’

He could see his son’s eyes begging to talk to him, but Daniel’s anger overtook his senses, and he decided to visit Anabella before her release.
