Chapter 103: Ch 103: I am not worried - Part 2

"Boss, this is the report for the wrong section, and it was not supposed to be filed. Did you make a mistake and accidentally sign it? It looks like I will need to dispose of it soon."

The secretary sighed as she held the report in her hand and shredded it apart. She was ruthless and refused to allow the man in front of her to get a single word out of his mouth before she spoke these cruel words.

Daniel felt flinching when his secretary pointed out his mistake for the third time in the past hour.

None of his mistakes were small, either, and Daniel cursed himself for making the same mistake again and again.

’Tsk, this is all Anabella’s fault. It would have been much better if James had not made me worried about that omega and where she went. I am not her babysitter, so why do I need to care about what happened to her?’

The more Daniel thought about it, the more he was convinced that he did not need to worry about Anabella and that everything would be fine if he ignored her. But reality was different from one’s imagination.

In reality, he was not able to control himself from worrying, and he ended up making many mistakes.

"Boss, is something worrying you? If so, I would advise you to take care of it first and clear your mind. Otherwise, you will continue to make mistakes like these, and we will be in deep trouble."

The secretary spoke harshly. As a beta, she did not feel the pheromones of her boss, and she was older than most secretaries. She had more than earned her spot and reputation, making her feel a lot bolder compared to everyone else.

When Daniel noticed his aggression did not scare the old lady, he calmed down and followed her advice.

He called Anabella, but some of him hoped she wouldn’t pick up. That way, he would have an excuse to give himself when annoyed.

Unfortunately, Anabella quickly picked up the call and sounded almost bored when she replied to him.

"What do you want? I did not know you had a reason to talk to me any longer. If it’s about my mother, just tell her I need space. Make up an excuse for me, and we will be fine."

Anabella spoke quickly and quietly. Daniel could hear sounds coming from behind her that sounded a bit odd to him.

But since he was impatient at this point, he decided to ignore those voices and focus on Anabella instead.

"Stop being stupid and come back home now. I don’t know why you left in the first place, but it is about time you head back home. James is worried and needs you to be present at his school in a few days."

Daniel spoke harshly as he looked through his papers. He was not worried about Anabella’s reply since he already knew that the female wouldn’t be able to refuse him.

After all, if Anabella knew how to say ’no,’ she would not have been stuck in this marriage for this long. She felt more suffocated than the other two.

Daniel did not expect Anabella to reply, so he was about to cut off the call, but Anabella surprised him by turning him down.

"I am not coming back. I am happy where I am, and you were the one who told me to go away anyway. Why do you have a problem now that I followed what you wanted me to do?"

Anabella asked in an annoyed voice, and for the first time, James felt surprised as well. He had not expected Anabella to express annoyance in her voice. He had always heard her be calm and sensible toward him.

’No, I cannot let this conversation end like this. Even if Anabella decides not to come back, I need it to be on my terms and not on hers. It will be a disaster if I allow Anabella to do whatever she wants.’

Daniel’s inner alpha was annoyed at being challenged. It quickly raised its head, and it made Daniel angry at the phone.

"Fine! If you will be like that, there is no need to return. I will take care of this, so never call me again."

Daniel ended up cutting the call and putting down the phone in his hand. He felt agitated at first but then slowly began to calm down. He realized that he had not even allowed Anabella to speak whatever she wanted to.

It made Daniel feel guilty, but his ego did not allow him to make that call back and explain his side.

’Ah, who cares what happens next? I already burned all my bridges and no longer have an option but to go forward and hope nothing happens. In about a week, Anabella and I can get past our differences and discuss what happened. I should wait for that time.’

Daniel was sure Anabella would contact him first. She was a spoilt child with little knowledge of the world. How would she ever survive now that her bank accounts were frozen?

Moreover, he had no intention of indirectly helping her out.

’I will need to tell James the bed news and make it sound like this was all Anabella’s fault. Well, it is her fault in the first place so that it won’t be that hard. Still, I would have liked to spend less time worrying about her for no reason. My mood has become worse now.’

Daniel sighed as he got back to work. There was no point in him thinking about Anabella any longer. He had a lot of work to do and not much time to finish it.

’I miss Sharon. I wish I could hurry up and head back to her already.’

Daniel would deny it if asked, but his fay was centered around Sharon already. He was not sure if he could change his habits.
