Anabella’s body protested as she threw it on the bed and snuggled into her blanket to enjoy some peace and quiet. She had a hard day and an even harder evening when she managed to clean everything up.

Once she was ready to fall asleep, she closed her eyes.

But unfortunately, sleep refused to greet her this time.

’Sleep is a scam. I had all but fallen asleep when I blinked while working, but now that I want to fall asleep, it refuses to come. What do I do now? My eyes are getting drier by the second, and it is beginning to hurt. I want to fall asleep.’

Anabella complained as she shut her eyes. But once again, sleep refused to greet her.

She did not even want to open her phone screen and use it because she knew that her eyes would hurt if she did that. Her head was already throbbing because of her lack of sleep.

However, despite Anabella’s complaints, the calmness of having a space over her head made her fall asleep quicker than she anticipated. She did not dream of anything for a long time when she fell asleep.

______

*Sigh*

"Here goes nothing. The only reason I am asking Anabella to come and not the Mother is that the Mother can get into trouble if I bring her along. It is not because Anabella is more fun to be with."

James confirmed in his heart and mind before he knocked at Anabella’s door. He had not seen her all day, but he was sure she was there...

"Hello! Is anyone in here?"

The alpha kid asked once more, his pheromones going sour at the lack of response he was getting from the person beyond the door.

At first, it annoyed James, and he decided to head back, but then it worried him a little. He was not sure why, but he could feel as if something was wrong. It made him want to inform someone about what had happened, and that was what he did.

He headed out and called his father first. He was sure that his father would know where Anabella had gone in the middle of the night.

James had decided to sleep alone today, so he was hesitant to enter his father’s room, where he slept with his mother.

His father had repeatedly asked James not to disturb him during this time unless it was an emergency.

In his book, someone disappearing from the house in the middle of the night was definitely an emergency.

"Father, are you in there? I need to talk to you. This is an emergency!"

James cried out as he banged his fist against the door to tell his father he was there.

An annoyed face opened the door for him, and James looked startled enough to almost back away and fall on his ass.

Luckily, the kid kept his balance, and his eyes turned determined.

"Father, I need to talk to you about something important. A-Ababella...she is not in her room. I don’t know where she has gone or what happened to her. What if she was kidnapped or something? It is in the middle of the night."

James asked, now scared about Anbaella’s safety. He looked at his father with begging eyes, but his father looked annoyed. He was shirtless, and he shook his head as he looked at his son and his begging.

"It is the middle of the night. Are you sure you are not mistaken about Anabella’s whereabouts? Maybe she has gone to her mother’s house and did not tell us? I am sure you are panicking for no reason."

Daniel assured his son as he kneeled in front of him.

The more James looked at his father, the more he was sure it was not the case. He was not overreacting or causing drama.

His instincts told him that Anbaella was gone, and it was not at her mother’s house. But his father refused to listen to him.

Just as James seemed about to cry, Sharon walked over to him with a gentle expression.

"Oh my! What happened, James? You look sad. Did your father say anything to you? Surely not! If so, then I will need to have a word with him. H-Hey, calm down. I am sure that whatever problem you face, we can clear it if it is the three of us."

Sharon spoke softly, and James finally felt calm enough to tell her what had happened with Anabella and why he was missing.

The more he spoke, the harsher his mother’s expression became. James could tell his mother was unhappy with what he told her.

Despite that, his mother heard James out before she warped her arms around his shaking frame and pulled him close into a hug.

"Aww, I am sure it is nothing. As your father said, it is possible that Anabella went to her mother’s house to rest for a few days and forgot to tell her. After all, it is not as if one of us told her to leave the house, right?"

Daniel stiffened hearing those words, and his heart skipped a beat. Sweat also covered his face as he recalled some...words he had told Anabella during the day.

’Surely that is not why Anabella decided to run for it? There is no reason for her to leave for something small like that. I am sure I am just thinking too much at the moment. Yes, I need to calm myself down. I will think more about this once my brain is working.’

Daniel decided before he went to sleep as well. He closed his eyes, and a deep sleep had called out to him before he knew it.

As soon as he woke up the next day, he called Anabella to find out where she had gone, but no one picked up her phone. This worried Daniel, but he refused to let it stay at the forefront of his mind and worry him the whole day.

It even began to affect his work and the people around him.
