The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?! -

Chapter 188: Chapter 174: Did the BOSS Invest Again?
The Undead slowly opened his eyes and his brain still wasn’t fully comprehending the scene before him.
His body was suspended, his feet dangling in the air, and across from him on the rack hung row upon row of Undead, creating a rather horrifying scene.
"Damn, what’s happening!"
As the first Undead woke up and let out a cry of alarm, a succession of voices followed from the mechanical racks.
"What’s going on?"
"Weren’t we in a raid? My cabbages should be ready to harvest again by now!"
"Is this a bug?"
It had to be a bug; there was no other explanation for why they would suddenly find themselves in another place, suspended from racks, just like rows of ducks hung by their butts in a roasting oven.
The Undead struggled tentatively, and somewhat surprisingly, the strange machinery didn’t bind them too tightly. With a light shake, they easily gained their freedom.
And at the moment of their liberation, gravity suddenly yanked them down to the ground.
"Ouch"
"Fuck!"
Cries of shock came from all around.
The stronger Undead managed to adjust their posture before they hit the ground, sparing themselves the worst of the fall, but the Undead who hadn’t surpassed level 11 were out of luck.
Those at the highest level had the worst luck, landing squarely on their rears with a solid thump.
The ones on the lower levels weren’t much better off, becoming the unintentional landing pads for their comrades above.
A few small mountains of bodies piled up amidst the snap, crackle, and pop.
The scene was as chaotic as a marketplace, with non-stop arguing.
"Silence!" a deep voice struck like a hammer to the heart.
The Undead all turned their heads in unison toward the source of the voice; the space was dimly lit, with just enough visibility to outline a group of figures in the distance.
If someone hadn’t spoken up, they might never have noticed the figures standing there in the shadows.
Then, a voice filled with pain and struggle rang out, and bright light suddenly bloomed.
The underground space lit up.
As everyone looked toward the figure radiating light, they couldn’t help but gasp in astonishment.
"Gandalf!"
Others recognized the true identity of the figure, calling out various titles such as "Principal," "Old Bee," and so on.
However, the figure’s condition didn’t seem too good, with his right shoulder collapsed and his arm hanging limply.
And there was a man with antlers, holding a bow trained steadily on his head.
It was only now that they noticed a familiar figure, the Knight in Golden Armor, followed by a group of assassins in hoods.
"The Assassin’s Creed?" someone couldn’t help but call out.
"Brother De!" another person recognized the identity of the speaker.
In a crowd of 3000 Undead, Lind’s face appeared too often, to the point that in recent viral video compilations, Lind’s image would often be chosen for the video thumbnails.
Moreover, hanging in the racks were not only Undead from Crying Town but also from Star Dragon City.
"So it turns out we weren’t just in some minor raid," Sister Li rose from the ground.
All they remembered was being discovered not long after entering the castle, and then they were thrown into a secret realm, inhabited by a group of Undead living in harmony.
Some had surmised that they had accidentally stumbled into an unreleased raid, citing the inability to use certain system functions as evidence.
No screenshots could be taken, no screen recording could be made.
Now it seemed it was no minor raid at all, but rather they had been dominated by some supremely powerful skill.
The game was incredibly realistic; in other games, being controlled meant, at most, losing control over one’s character and being unable to do anything, but in this game, when controlled, they actually perceived it as reality and had been playing for several days straight.
Hissing, the more he thought about it, the more horrifying it seemed.
Lind didn’t explain the current situation to them; as players, the Undead would calculate things themselves and come up with reasonable explanations.
He simply said, "Undead, you are free now."
The strange machinery in the vast underground space was out of place in the Rand Kingdom.
Lind had never heard of anything like it.
He turned to look at Dome, who was in so much pain that he was nearly fainting, and said, "Give him a healing potion," feeling a slight favorability towards him since he had used magic on his own initiative.
Mico took out a healing potion and walked over, but her eyes remained fixed on the large machinery, an entirely new unknown that nobody could resist observing out of curiosity.
"Thank you," Dome took the potion and took a sip, his injuries quickly healing. Such is the unreasonable nature of magic.
This place was not fit to stay in for long. Lind was highly interested in Dome’s method of using the Undead as batteries, but now was not the time to study such matters.
Lind looked towards Morena, "We should leave now, but before we do, Miss Morena, I would like to ask if a team of knights has visited Crying Town before?"
"They are in Soul Valley!" Morena immediately replied, "Very soon, no, they are now free to move. I assure you I haven’t harmed them... too much."
Morena was both curious about and awe-struck by Lind.
She discovered that the odd Undead all knew him and were obedient to his words.
The reasonably lengthy period of interaction allowed Morena to fully understand how troublesome the Undead could be.
They feared neither threats, nor pain, nor death; they acted on their desires and so on.
In Morena’s eyes, the Undead were even more terrifying than the Calamity. At least the Calamity didn’t communicate directly or cling to her alone.
How fearsome must be Lind who could make the Undead obey willingly, and being a so-called "Old Noble" as well, her estimation of Lind was unknowingly sky-rocketing.
Ironically, the Undead thought the same.
"The BOSS has defected again?" Although they didn’t understand what happened in between, it didn’t prevent the Undead from grasping the rough situation.
They were captured by Dome and Morena and controlled with some strong skill, ignorant of what happened to themselves.
Afterward, Lind came with his people to rescue them.
In the end, the two red-named BOSSes from the enemy camps, after a standoff, chose to pledge allegiance to Lind.
Just how charismatic was Lind, since every time he met a BOSS, they wouldn’t fight him but instead chose to pledge allegiance?
Only two people, in the "Tomorrow’s Magic School" raid with two red-named mini-BOSSes surrendering as the story’s end, was Star Dragon City Lord Lind’s rescue of the imprisoned Undead declared as passing the stage.
The Star Dragon faction also welcomed two new NPCs, both Wizards.
Following Lind out of the underground, Morena was still repelled by the Undead but stuck close to Lind, believing he must know plenty of secrets about the Undead, or else he couldn’t have manipulated them so easily.
Now was not the time to ask questions, since those Undead were always watching her. Staying close to Lind also bore the hope of using Lind’s power to protect herself, causing the Undead to hesitate.
Morena feared that her act of "betrayal" against the Undead would enrage them, being the mayor of Crying Town. She and Dome had tricked the Undead into the castle with schemes, then used magic to influence them, making a deadly battle inevitable.
But to her surprise, the group didn’t care at all; instead, they eagerly discussed and complained about something else: Why couldn’t they take the items from the dreamworld with them?
This was just the non-wipe test phase.
Fun as it was, it was also frustrating.
"Miss Morena," an Undead belonging to Crying Town suddenly spoke.
"Ah?" Morena was startled.
The Undead looked at her expectantly, "Can we enter the dream raid again?"
Morena subconsciously turned to Lind.
But Lind strode forward without responding to her, instead, a petite figure ran up and tapped on Morena’s arm.
It was the silver-haired witch who had been following Lind; despite her small stature, Morena felt an overwhelming pressure, perhaps in terms of magic research and power, she had surpassed Dome.
Mico beckoned her to follow.
Morena immediately shut her mouth and followed.
There was no need to answer every query of the Undead.
As NPCs, they had the right to choose not to respond with indifference, and the Undead would always provide reasonable speculations for your actions.
