Chapter 31: The First Pawn on the Board
The saleslady continued recording the three fighting each other. Each of them didn’t seem to fair well as cuts started to appear on their pretty faces.
But she wasn’t satisfied with just this.
If she was allowed to, the saleslady wanted to go there and join.
She wanted to inflict pain the same way they did to her!
Most importantly, she wanted to shame them in the most embarrassing manner.
However, before she could fully enjoy the miserable scene of the three, two men in black formal suits suddenly came in between them, stopping the fight and soon, Emma, Trisha, and Sophie decided to part ways, as if they had just realized what they had just done.
It was extremely humiliating!
They showed such low-class behavior in a place where anyone could just walk in on them.
Although she was discontented with the bodyguards’ interruption, the saleslady was happy she was able to take a video of them.
"This should be enough to make them unable to show their faces to the public!" the saleslady happily said, completely unaware that someone behind her could hear her.
Lucy didn’t want to sodden the good mood the saleslady was having, but she had to shatter this delusion. Or else, this piece would be unusable.
"That won’t be enough," Lucy uttered behind the saleslady.
The saleslady didn’t hear her first. She thought it was her mind talking back to her.
But after a few seconds, she finally realized that the voice was too real for her to mistake it as a voice in her head.
Turning her head to the side slightly, the saleslady peeked behind her to confirm her suspicion.
As she had expected, someone was really behind her.
Soon after realizing someone had been standing behind her and she was unaware of it almost took her soul out of her body. She quickly turned to face Lucy.
"You—you—" the saleslady stuttered endlessly. She recognized Lucy as the woman who bought the clothes in the store.
Lucy waited patiently for the saleslady to get over the shock with a smile.
And when she does, Lucy stepped forward and said, "That video won’t be enough."
"Video? What video?!" the saleslady heard her heart thump inside her. She wondered how much this beautiful woman had seen. How long did she stand behind her?
"No need to hide it. I’ve been here before you pulled out your phone to record their fight," Lucy confessed. But her confession was not taken very kindly as the saleslady turned defensive.
Safeguarding the phone behind her back, the saleslady looked at Lucy suspiciously. It was no wonder. After all, Lucy would also look at the saleslady like that if their situation was reversed.
Not willing to sour their interaction yet, Lucy stepped away from the saleslady and pointed a finger toward the direction of the phone the saleslady was hiding.
Lucy said, "It’s been a while since I’ve seen a fight. But compared to the ones I’ve watched before... theirs is a bit boring."
The saleslady was still watching her and did not respond.
Lucy continued, "Let me give you some advice. You can post that video on the internet. It’ll be a great video for younger people to watch and talk about. I bet the video will garner a lot of views. But how long do you think it will be up on the internet? A day? Week? Month?"
"I—I don’t know what you’re talking about," the saleslady still wanted to deny recording the video even when Lucy had been beside her to watch the fight.
Seeing her like this, Lucy’s smile lost a notch. Her eyes turned dark and deep, and the saleslady felt that Lucy’s eyes resembled the ones teachers in school would show as black holes during science class.
They suck her in so deeply that she felt lost in a bottomless abyss.
"Denying what we both know is true won’t get us anywhere." Lucy flicked her hair behind her shoulder. "While you are lying, those three will soon be back as best of friends, and you will remain as a blank memory they will never remember, even if you choke their throat."
"Besides, I’m not going to take your phone from you. I won’t even ask you to delete the video," Lucy went on. "Instead, I’m going to ask you to keep the video first. Do not upload it or try to share it with anybody. You want revenge, right? Do you want them to be ashamed of even showing their face outside? Well, I’m giving you the choice to have what you want. So, are you in?"
The saleslady listened carefully to what Lucy was saying. She didn’t want to listen initially, but somehow, whatever Lucy was doing definitely aroused an intense emotion inside her.
"Why should I listen to you?"
Lucy narrowed her eyes as she sweetly smiled. "Because I’m just like you. I was once trampled on by them. You see, when I look at you, I can see myself. But don’t get me wrong, I’m not helping you. I’m giving you the chance to do what I couldn’t in the past."
Of course, this was just half of the truth. But the saleslady didn’t need to know that she was just a pawn Lucy obtained today.
Anyway, what the saleslady wanted was revenge. And Lucy was willing to give it to her. As for the method, that’s up to her to decide.
"You can think about it." Lucy dangled the chance in front of the saleslady. "But don’t think too long, or it wouldn’t be worth it."
"How will I contact you? I don’t even know your name," the saleslady asked because she was both curious and cautious of her.
Lucy stopped to think for a second. Then, she replied breezily, "Come to Silverbrook Lane. The tallest building you see there? That’s where you’ll find me, Ms. Chelsea."
As soon as Lucy left, the saleslady, Chelsea, stood dazedly in the same spot. After a couple of minutes, she finally took her phone out, and rather than checking whether the video came out fine, she tapped her fingers on the screen and searched for the address Lucy gave her.
Chelsea Willow was not a local in Grid City, but she had lived there for several years for work. So, she knew many streets in the city.
Naturally, Silverbrook Lane was not unfamiliar to her. No one in Grid City could not know the one and only Silverbrook Lane, the street where upper-class society mostly lived or owned a building. It was also everyone’s dream street for a white-collar employee or a new graduate. But only a few could enter that side of the world successfully.
Chelsea also dreamed of working there. But she was never shortlisted and her application was instantly rejected.
Could that woman be someone from Silverbrook Lane?
Continuing her search, Chelsea typed in the tallest building. However, she almost felt her phone was too heavy in her hand as the search result returned with only one answer.
WESTWOOD GROUP
Suddenly, Chelsea felt her clothes being soaked with sweat.
Then, she realized something even more frightening.
"How did she know my name?"
