The Billionaire's Ex-Wife Returns!
Chapter 26: Moving Separately

Chapter 26: Moving Separately

When he received the parcel in his office, Landon didn’t want to waste any more time and flew all the way to another country to find Lucy. The picture showed a bustling street, probably the main street of Virela, and the stores were all crowded with customers.

But upon coming to the exact location where the photo was taken, Landon was left to hold onto nothing.

He knew he wouldn’t find Lucy in that place. Not when she might have gone to another after the picture was taken. Besides, only God knows when she was photographed.

Yet, despite all that, he couldn’t give up the tiny chance that maybe Lucy would be there.

"Sir, I’ve asked around with the photo of Mrs. Westwood, but no one seems to know her," Alaric reported. He looked messy, with his hair sticking up and bloodshot eyes.

But how could he not be? He was just drinking with some corporate directors last night in place of Landon, who didn’t want to go to Virela, and only went to sleep at 4 am. Then, his boss called him so early in the morning and ordered him to find Mrs. Westwood.

"That is impossible. She’s here. I know it." Landon spoke with certainty.

Alaric glanced at him, knowing how his boss had been during these 3 years. He sighed inwardly but still said, "I’ll ask a bit more. Why don’t you go to the hotel first?"

It was just a suggestion, but Alaric had already known what Landon would reply.

As expected, Landon said, "No, I’m going to look for her."

With that, he started going around different stores and asking if they knew Lucy while letting everyone he met take a look at Lucy’s photo on his phone. If things could only work for him, he wouldn’t even want anyone else’s eyes to get a glimpse of her. But he wouldn’t try to gatekeep those photos of hers now when he needed to find her fast.

Unfortunately, he harbored no result from his search.

Landon was forced to return to the hotel where Alaric was staying. They booked another suite for him and as he entered the room; the frustration bottled inside him for 3 years finally boiled over.

Throwing his coat haphazardly, Landon sat down and rubbed his temples before letting his fingers comb through his hair.

3 years. He had been looking for Lucy yet as if a void had swallowed her up, he couldn’t find her.

And now that he had a lead to follow, he thought it would be easier to find her.

"Where are you, Lucy?" he muttered under his breath.

"Have you arrived?"

Lucy stood inside the kitchen and stirred the pot as she answered, "Yes."

Taking out the waddle, she tasted the soup a bit. Then, she winced when the sourness overwhelmed her senses.

"You’re still trying to cook?"

"What can I do? I don’t have you here, Vanessa," Lucy said after spitting and washing her mouth with water.

Vanessa’s face was shown on her phone screen. Her face scrunched up in a disapproving look. Then, her friend said, "That’s why I told you I’ll go there with you, but you don’t want to. What would you do if you died from food poisoning yourself before you can complete your revenge?"

Lucy imagined herself lying face down on the table with froth in her mouth. She laughed at this but quickly held back when Vanessa glared at her.

"It’s not funny, Lucy." Vanessa scolded. "Anyway, are you sure you don’t want me there? I can send Samuel there, too."

Lucy didn’t need to think before she shook her head. "I’ll handle this myself, If I need your help, I’ll call you." She paused for a second before asking, "Where’s Addie?"

"She just fell asleep after watching Bondman," Vanessa told her. "Do you want me to wake her up?"

Thinking of her daughter melted the coldness that reeked out of her body. It had been 3 years since she gave birth to Adeline. Her sweet baby was an angel that had been placed in her life to bring forth life in it.

Lucy will forever be grateful for her daughter surviving through that storm.

"Tell Addie, Mommy loves her."

"I will."

Just as Lucy was about to hang up, Vanessa asked her, "Is it tomorrow?"

Lucy’s finger paused an inch away from the screen.

A smile appeared on her lips, but the iciness in her eyes made even Vanessa shiver in fear.

"Yes, my revenge will officially start tomorrow."

After hanging up, Lucy drained the soup from the pot and cleaned up the mess in the kitchen. She moved to her room, unlocked her suitcase, and took away the things inside it.

Surprisingly, the things inside her suitcase weren’t clothes.

Rather, it was filled with papers and photos. All of which were the people whom she deemed worthy of her revenge.

It took half an hour to take them out and pin them to the wall across her bed.

Once she was done, Lucy admired her works and let her eyes graze across each one of her targets before finally landing on the largest photo among them all.

It was a photo of a man with refined and gentle features. He looked extremely handsome and exuded a faint detachment of someone high above, making people subconsciously revere him.

Even when this picture had been in her hands for two years now, Lucy thought that Landon had changed over time.

His eyes, especially, looked eerily dark and brooding. One look and you would have to choose between surrendering your soul to him or escaping from his grasp.

Either way, it still made him the devil that brought her nothing but suffering.

But Lucy wasn’t worried about confronting Landon.

Instead, she wished their meeting could happen quickly.

Excitement shot through her as she thought of what Landon would look like when his ex-wife, whom he had been searching for, returned.

Would he feel relieved or angry?

Lucy tapped her finger on Landon’s picture before crumpling it in her hand, letting it fall to the ground.

It doesn’t matter what he will feel when he meets her because Lucy will make sure that at the end of everything, Landon will be stripped of everything important to him.

The next morning, Lucy received a call from the head of Westwood Southwest Branch, Mr. Paul Winsky, telling her to come to the Southwest Branch to start her work immediately.

Lucy said, "There are some tools I still need to buy, so I can’t come right now."

"When can you come here then?"

"I’ll get there before noon," she replied nonchalantly before disconnecting the call.

The noise inside the shopping mall intensified once she no longer focused her attention on the call. There were a lot of people even in the early morning. Children pranced around with their parents. Store clerks welcomed their customers with perfected smiles and customers looked around to buy what they wanted.

And across from where Lucy stood was a clothing store. She was extremely familiar with this store, having visited it a couple of times to buy clothes. However, most of the time, she was dragged here to become a live and walking mannequin for Emma and her friends to test the clothes they wanted to wear and buy.

Lucy spotted a face that she awfully recognized.

It was Emma Westwood.
