Chapter 228: Chapter 228: DISTRIBUTING THE PILLS

Inside the house, all eyes were on Lena and Cade, as these two were in charge of sharing what happened out there.

Zara didn’t want to recount anything that happened to her, and just busied herself playing with her grandmother’s wrinkly hands.

There was something about her Grammy’s hands which fascinated her and the old lady dotingly let her do as she wished.

Someone kept a closer look at Zara and felt indignant. Surely, now that she was back on her feet, did it mean that they were in trouble again?

Zara getting better was indeed good news, but if they took a look at it again, they couldn’t help but worry. They were a competition between each sibling, but they weren’t that overly worried. They all have the industries they were dealing with. Their father made it clear when he divided the empire in such a manner with heavy penalties once one of them overreached or played too much.

However, these only applied to them and not the family’s princess. When she was sick and with a 100% chance of dying, she wasn’t a threat. Whatever they gave her, she was going to spit it out once she was dead. But now the little girl came back by force. And by the way, she was looking, they might die first, leaving her to live until old age.

It looked that threatening.

And what really infuriated them, though they never dared utter it, the person in question seemed oblivious to the surrounding situation.

Some things that they would kill to have, but she always receives them without doing anything. Why was the gap so big like that?

As they all thought differently, the events of what happened finally came to an end.

The meal was served. For people like Zara, her parents and grandparents, it was very tasty, but for the rest, they all knew that they were going to have indigestion. Medicine was highly recommended.

It was going to be a long night.

That’s what they all thought.

But they were proved wrong as after the meal, Cade gathered his six children, excluding Zara, who had dragged her grandparents to their room.

The six wondered why their father brought them together on the same day they arrived.

Could it be that he wanted to warn them?

Did he perhaps see their intentions?

Worry and dread filled the six.

Cade, on the other hand, snickered inwardly, finding his children very absurd.

That was the disadvantage of having too many kids from different women. They all pretended to like each other on the surface and yet kept on devising plots for each other in secret.

His bias was something that everyone knew. He loved Zara a bit too much, and that was something that he couldn’t change any more. It was ingrained in his bones.

Who didn’t love their children, anyway?

Besides his love, the woman he loves genuinely with all he had born him that child. How could he not be biased?

It wasn’t like he disliked his children. He loved them so much. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given them everything that he did. He would have handed everything to Zara. Unfortunately, the little girl’s destiny didn’t align with his thoughts.

Since she wasn’t a threat, he wanted these kids to know as well. He didn’t want his beloved daughter to live in fear of what her siblings might scheme against her when all they had was two years before she went to her husband.

So, with all the adults gathered, he looked at them with a warning gaze, which sent chills down their spines, including Ashely who had been too used to seeing her father’s gentle side.

Spending time with him in these past few months made her nearly forget how ruthless and cold he could be.

Could it be that they indeed did something wrong for him to change like that?

Suddenly, Ashely felt fear for the unknown.

"I gathered all of you here for two reasons. And I hope that all of you will bear in mind what I have to say. Because if I ever hear that you have other thoughts that you shouldn’t have, then what I gave you, I can take it back. And I am not joking!" he sternly warned them, a glint of ruthless flashing in his eyes as he said so.

Hearing that, the six of them knew automatically where this story was going.

’It’s that jinx again!’

’Can’t she let us have peace?’

’Could it be that she is eyeing one of our businesses?’

So many thoughts started jumbling in their minds as they listened to their father warning them openly as if he was addressing his subordinates and not his children.

They were all his children. Why was the gap continuing to increase?

Should they also be on the verge of death before he could love them the way he loves Zara?

However, they were slapped the next moment when Cade continued with his statement, ’Your sister’s destiny is different from your thoughts. She is not interested in inheriting the family business. So don’t go around thinking that she is a threat. After two years, she would get married for real this time and once that is done, she would go and live with Amir in Rozinya ....." every single thing he revealed baffled the siblings except for Ashley who remembered that this was what was talked about at the scared land.

Indeed, Zara wasn’t interested in the family business. She was going to be her goddess saintess and spread the gospel of her deity. When would she find time to fight with them?

When Cade finished explaining that, Ashely interjected and supported her father on what he had just said.

"Little sister is not out of the threat. She just wants to have quality time with her siblings. So, when you have free time, invite her and get to know her. She isn’t that bad when you know her well. Besides, wouldn’t you want to create a good rapport with a future saintess? She serves the goddess of health after all!" Ashely didn’t forget to reveal some important bits of what Zara would be up to.

Surely, once that was revealed, the frowns on the siblings’ faces loosened and Cade seeing that nearly bashed his kids with a stick.

To think that in such a short moment, their thoughts had already run amok, they were indeed children from a rich family. Filled with schemes, and uncertainty and have a mind that doesn’t trust anyone.

What a family he raised. He felt embarrassed just thinking about it.

It was partially his fault as well.

He just kept looking, ignoring the situation until now his oldest was already forty-five years old.

Was it even possible for what he wanted to be achieved?

The possibility was very small.
