Chapter 222: OVERWHELMED WITH GUILT
Chapter 222: Chapter 222: OVERWHELMED WITH GUILT
Zara felt unsettled as she continued to look at Diamond’s silver hair. As someone whose hair was white and had been like that for years, she could tell that the hair she was looking at was real. There was no sign of dyeing there.
She didn’t know what happened when she was in Rozinya, waiting for the Book of Death to be found. But she could tell that it wasn’t something easy.
It must have been hard, and she needed to know the truth.
Feeling uneasy with the whole situation, Zara left her room and went to her parents. Luckily the couple weren’t napping, just busy chatting calmly cementing their relationship even further.
When they saw her, they ushered her into their room before making way for her to join them.
Zara, who hadn’t shared the bed with her parents ever since she turned six found herself in the middle of her parents, covered with warm blankets, enough to make her drift to sleep if she wasn’t careful.
"Darling, is there something wrong?"
"Are you feeling bored by yourself?"
Zara sighed dejectedly as she looked at her parents. She could tell that they were worried about her. If what she was thinking was correct, then her parents might have not told her about Diamond, worried that she might end up getting worried.
Nonetheless, now that she had come across it, she didn’t have a single choice but to know in advance. At least this way she would know how to face Diamond later when they meet.
"No, it’s not like that. I just came across something and I want to verify it!" she earnestly responded to her parents.
The couple, hearing that, didn’t doubt her words and asked what she was curious about. If they had the answer, they would tell her.
And so, she asked, "Mom and Dad. Diamond’s hair ...." Gauging her parents’ reaction as she dragged her words, "Was it caused by my situation by any chance?" and the response was a bang.
Zara watched as her mother’s eyes especially trembled as she looked away, avoiding contact. While her father went silent, the action of his jaws tightening made her know of the answer before they could respond.
"Was it bad?" she couldn’t help but ask nervously, praying for the best.
She had already asked too much from Diamond and if she continued to do so without shame, she wouldn’t know how to face her at all.
Lena looked at her daughter, guilt overwhelming her as she recalled how that night Diamond suddenly appeared in Rozinya when she was supposed to be in Dynalis.
It was a strange sight, which quickly got forgotten as everyone was concerned about the book.
It was also at that time that she appeared with a head of silver hair. She remembered the calls she received from back home and all she knew was that Diamond was mighty and she suffered greatly to find the location of the book.
No one knows the price she really paid to get the book, but the tangible price was the hair color.
Ever since their daughter woke up with a head full of white hair, Lena no longer likes such hair colors at all. Seeing such colors in a head that once had black, brown or any other color before, she would shudder with fear, wondering if the other person got cursed as well.
And in Diamond’s case, that might be what happened.
Zara, hearing all that from her mother, lost all strength in her body. She just couldn’t believe it.
Because of her, Diamond suffered so much. What if she got affected in many ways than she was showing?
Would her mind remain at peace then?
She didn’t think so.
"Dear, don’t stress yourself much. Diamond will never hate you. If she did, she wouldn’t have answered your phone or even sold the pills to you at such a discount!"
"That’s true. She isn’t a petty person. And remember, she didn’t even ask for anything during this whole time. It showed that she was just being genuine."
’And for such a genuine person. You won’t suffer a loss if you become friends. It would be better if you became sisters. Sisters are much closer than friends, anyway!"
"Do you think that she will agree to be a sister?"
"If you don’t try, how will you know?"
"That’s true. We will talk about it when we meet later."
"Just don’t let her see you worried. All her sacrifice and effort would be wasted."
Zara smiled tearfully as she listened to her parents.
She truly appreciated how eager they were to make her smile and forget the upsetting facts about the whole situation. At the same time, she was moved and touched by how her parents even considered letting her and Diamond have a deeper bond than that of friendship.
When they are sisters, she can spend the rest of her life repaying the other without feeling awkward. As siblings, was it wrong to do something good for the other?
She didn’t even think that far, and yet they did it for her. How could she not be touched?
With her parents’ intervention, she no longer was as upset and overwhelmed as before.
At least if she were to appear in front of Diamond right now, she wouldn’t overreact and lose her manners.
Rather than making the person who dedicated so much to making sure that she survives and gets to live to see another day, she might as well show her a good side of hers. And prove to the other that she was going to make use of this second chance to live beautifully without any regrets.
That was what perhaps Diamond wanted for her. And she was not going to let her down.
With her thoughts sorted out, Zara found her energy once again.
She bid her parents farewell and returned to her room where she continued from where she left from.
Reading her sister’s posts was truly amazing.
She really knows how to piss off her enemies and, at the same time, live her life to the fullest.
She really envied the other and yet was glad to be who she was.
They can’t all be the same, right?
While Zara was busy enjoying herself, the couple, on the other hand, were left in a depressive state.
"Should we increase the thank you gift?"
