Chapter 214: THE TEN QUESTIONS

Chapter 214: Chapter 214: THE TEN QUESTIONS

When the goddess heard her inner thoughts, she was even more amazed at knowing that Zara just wanted to continue being the saintess. She was touched when she heard the many things that she wanted to do for the religion, for the light faction and, above all, for her.

Where else can she find such a devout follower?

"Don’t fret, my child. We aren’t here to point fingers at each other. Since we are both here, it means that I forgave you for a very long time. You were and will always remain the child I love the most. Others can be sinners, but you, my child, will always remain the bringer of light, just like your name."

Zara felt touched as she listened to the goddess’s words. Hearing that from her, especially after all the beating she gave herself, feeling guilt for being a letdown, and causing so many deaths because of her foolish love, it was as if she had been given a second chance to prove herself.

As long as the deity still wanted her, then she was willing to toil herself for her until the end of times. This time, she was going to put all her effort into making sure that such a thing in the past would never happen again.

"You don’t have much time. It’s time for you to leave this place and return to your family!" the goddess added, making Zara raise her head to look at that blinding silhouette.

’Was it really time for her to leave?’

"They are worried about you already, and we can’t let that happen. I know about your devotion and dedication to serving the temple. But my child, that can wait. For now, go home, be with your loved ones, and recuperate. After two years, you can come back and continue from where you left ...." The goddess said and at that moment, Zara felt a warm touch on her head, and it made her flutter.

However, it didn’t last for long, as the goddess’s silhouette started flickering, dimming slowly and seeing that, she knew that the goddess was about to make her disappearance, and knowing that she would be gone, her heart couldn’t help but sink.

"I will abide by your instruction. I will not let you down!" Zara solemnly promised, as she looked at her goddess, who was truly leaving.

"I know my child, I know!" the goddess responded, a doting tone in her voice which made Zara blush, feeling giddy that the goddess had never changed and as the goddess’s silhouette completely disappeared, "I bless you, my child. So go out there and do whatever you want!" that resounded resolutely in her ears and a glint of determination flashed in her eyes.

Flash!

"Thank you!" she mumbled a response as a blinding light enveloped her, taking her back where she was needed the most; home.

When she came to be, Zara was lying in a familiar room.

She was alive!

A smile blossomed on her face as she looked around.

Lying on the altar, something that she had been doing for goodness how long, her body didn’t feel stiff or painful at all.

Surrounding her were lit candles and the soft chanting of the priestess, who was speaking in an unknown language.

The room was very fragrant, and it didn’t look like it was the day she came for the ritual back then.

The fact that she was alive, with her eyes wide open right now, it felt like a dream. A dream she was happy to wake up from.

Looking around, she didn’t spot anyone. She didn’t know if one person or more guarded her, but it didn’t matter. Soon she would be seeing them. She just needed to get her bearings first.

Disrupting the priestess wasn’t a good idea, so she had to wait for her until she was done.

While thinking like that, a familiar voice sounded in her ears.

[Congratulations on coming out alive. You have indeed surpassed my expectations!]

Zara scoffed as she listened to the familiar voice.

’Were you hoping that I won’t make it?’

[No, how can I hope for something like that? Don’t accuse me of something that I didn’t do!]

Hearing that, Zara wanted to burst into a peal of laughter but managed to contain herself. She didn’t dare reveal the fact that she had awakened right now when she didn’t know what the book wanted to talk to her about.

’I believe you. I was just joking!’ she mused at how cute the book was acting now that everything was over.

[You nearly shocked me there!]

’Hehe, I am happy. I made it!’

[Indeed, you have. Which is why you will be granted some rewards for being strong and never giving up.]

’Give it to me! What are you giving? Dowry?’

[Stop playing. It’s nothing like that. You have ten questions that you can ask me right now. I will give you the answers that you need.]

’Why are you being so generous suddenly like that?’ Zara couldn’t help but find the book very suspicious.

This was the first time that it was being playful and, on top of that, so willing and ready to give her answers.

’You .... Are you perhaps going to leave after this?’ she asked nervously, as she thought of this.

The book had accompanied for months, and its job from day one was to help her get the relics and get rid of the curse. Now that the curse was gone, didn’t that mean that it was going to disappear as well?

Thinking like that, Zara suddenly felt sullen.

Although the book loved giving her missions and at times missions very hard to complete, it became her pillar of strength in these trying times.

It gave her hope that as long as the mission was completed, she was going to live. To think that it would disappear. Her mood fell.

[Unfortunately, there is time to meet and part. I have finished the mission assigned to me. Now it’s time to say goodbye!]

Without beating around the bush, the book responded.

Zara sighed heavily, a dejected expression on her face as her guess was confirmed.
