The Billionaire's Cursed Heiress
Chapter 213: HER FAVORITE

Chapter 213: Chapter 213: HER FAVORITE

Zara learnt a great lesson this time. In fact, she learnt it at a young age but pretended to be ignorant.

Fate can never be escaped from unless it was meant to be done in such a manner.

When she fell sick, with all the doctors not finding what was wrong with her, her parents went for spiritualists, seers and prophets. They didn’t leave any stone unturned. And yet these people all said one thing in common, she wasn’t destined to live past twenty-three.

She could die at any moment, but living after that, that would be impossible. And their words proved to be very true.

There were so many times she nearly met her goddess. She lived a life where it was hanging by a thread, treading over thin ice every single day.

All her vitals were showing that her body was failing. If it weren’t for the machines, she would be long gone.

Her life started getting better after the book appeared. With the spiritual water she drank daily, her body started functioning like that of a human being.

There were so many times she heard the doctors, even her nurse, saying that her family should start preparing for the funeral. In the few months before the book appeared, she had reached that state.

Even when the book appeared, it confirmed her death without hiding it. When such a spiritual artefact confirms something like that, it just shows that she was fated to go through such a moment.

Thankfully, in the past millennia, actions had been taken to fight against this cruel fate forced on her by those dark faction followers.

Because of the dedication, love and sacrifice of many, she managed to reach where she is today.

Past grievances should be left in the past, for now, better focus on the future.

That was why she decided to forgive Quinn despite him not being with her in that dream space right now. Forgiving him first, and letting her heart be at ease, was the first step in reclaiming what she had lost.

When she got out and saw him, she was going to forgive him face to face as well. As for whether he would understand what was happening, that would be a quiz for himself and not for her.

At the same time, she wanted to renew the vows she had made to her goddess. She would revive the temple and bring more worshippers, just like before.

Nowadays, plagues, illnesses and all sorts of ailments are befalling people. By bringing the temple of the goddess of health to the world, won’t many people rush to the temple?

As long as many people revere her goddess, then she will return to her former state. As long as she is strong, even if in the future, something like what happened in the past repeats itself, the deity would be ready to fight. She can’t fight deities after all.

Besides, reviving the temple felt like the most logical thing for her to do. She wasn’t interested in pursuing business at all. With so many half-siblings already doing well in their fields, what more would she need to do?

She didn’t want to add any burdens to them. When she was young, she was a threat to them, and that didn’t make her feel good living in that family. It made her feel isolated.

If she wakes up, gets cured and gets better, the threat level will increase. Her father gave her the shares of the main company already, which means that her vote was enough to change the company’s dynamics.

When she is alive and healthy, they will no longer care about anything but do everything in their power to deal with her. She didn’t want to be caught in such a situation.

Besides, Selena was a crazy stepmother. For her children, that woman was willing to go to any lengths. They had just gotten friendly recently. She didn’t want to be on that woman’s radar again.

Selena was one of the many who wanted her gone when she was seriously ill before. It was better for her to concentrate on what she knows the best, and not fight with her siblings.

She can just be a boss, receive her dividends and let the others do the work for her. Wasn’t that better?

She was born to become a saintess, and she believed that her goddess thinks the same as well.

Or didn’t she?

Zara mulled as she looked around.

Why didn’t she see any shadow of her goddess during this whole time she had been in the dream space?

Could it be that she no longer wanted to see her again?

How was she going to leave the dream space, anyway?

As her mind cracked thinking about this, a familiar scene unfolded right in front of her, startling her to the core that she just stood there, with her mouth and eyes wide open.

This scene reminded her of the first time the goddess appeared in her dream. At that time, she was just Phoebe. This time, she was Zara, with her future unknown.

"Child, I am glad to see that your thinking is back to its origins!" the goddess teasingly said, as her silhouette formed in front of her, and like usual, her face was blurry and couldn’t be seen.

There was this halo surrounding her that made it difficult to keep on looking at her for long.

Realizing what was happening, Zara found herself instinctively kneeling in a familiar posture with her head lowered.

Although she was bold, it wasn’t to the extent of locking gaze with her deity for a long time. They weren’t equals. That was something that even an atheist would agree with.

"My goddess! Please forgive this sinner!" she pleaded, guilt and shame enveloping her as her head was lowered.

The goddess beneath that shining halo smiled dotingly as she looked at the child she loved so much.

Looking at her right now, she felt that doing so much wasn’t that bad in the end. At least, she knew to be grateful and still recalled the principles. She hadn’t let her down, even when she had lost all memories of her.

Despite being an atheist in this life, she had done her best to help others in ways that she could afford. Without her memories, she still carried that good heart which she admired from the first time that she saw her.

She was and still remains the perfect candidate for her saintess.
