The Billionaire's Cursed Heiress -
Chapter 108: HE IS BACK
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: HE IS BACK
In fifteen years, Zara had never celebrated her birthday properly. There was no need to, actually. Why should she do something that would only remind her that she would be dying?
However, this year was different. There was hope, so the preparations despite starting late, everything was being done on a large scale.
And it was more so after Cade showed that he didn’t mind letting the world know that Zara was his daughter.
Weren’t they people clamoring to know what happened to his last-born daughter?
This time they were going to invite everyone with a status and introduce Zara once again to the world. If the person herself wasn’t embarrassed or showed no signs of discomfort for people to see her in her current status, why should they be filled with worry?
As a result, in the days going towards the birthday banquet, Zara was a bit busy, though it was too much considering that she was still not well.
Her mother brought all kinds of seamstresses to the house and she lost count of the times she had to change outfit after outfit. Furthermore, her mother just had to spend more time with her making the list of people to be invited at the last minute.
Seeing her like that, how could she not melt and cooperate?
As a result, she didn’t have that free time to play with her fans but recalling how her parents agreed for her to broadcast on the day of the banquet; she was excited like a little girl. Which she was by the way.
A day before the banquet, Zara didn’t see her mother’s shadow, anyway. Apparently, she went out to check if everything was going smoothly at the family’s hotel where the banquet was going to be held.
Meanwhile, she was at home receiving a medical massage from a professional masseuse, someone she had worked with for years. However, she hated getting the massages as they were painful at times.
"You look better nowadays. You have more flesh!" the masseuse with a mouth without a filter, another reason why she hated her and yet couldn’t get rid of her since she was good at her job, blurted.
"You ..... can’t you massage her in peace?" Ava complained helplessly as she glared at the middle-aged lady, whose name was Gloria.
Gloria scoffed as her hands continued to dig deeper into the newly developed bones and replied, "It’s not like I am lying. Don’t tell me that you are not seeing it!? whatever treatment you are taking this time, keep on taking it!"
Hearing that, Zara could only keep her head lowered without responding. Just wasting her energy on Gloria would make her tired the whole day, and she didn’t want that.
Besides, it wasn’t like she was lying. She used to be bony before. How could she have flesh when she was consuming nutrient solutions, the wonderful product of her family’s business all these years?
But now that she was eating food like a normal human being, the changes could be seen. Which was something that she was grateful for.
"Fine, just do and finish. We need her fresh for tomorrow."
"Don’t worry, she will be good as new by the time I am done!" Gloria said boastfully as she continued with the job she loved so much. After all, she earns so much. Who didn’t love such a high-paying job?
During the massage, an unexpected guest arrived, or should she say another resident of her villa whom she hadn’t seen in a very long time; Quinn.
"Sister, how are you feeling?" that was the first thing he asked as soon as he walked into the room.
Zara, since she was facing downwards, she didn’t see him entering but his voice was something that she could recognize anywhere. So, when she heard his voice, all sorts of emotions got jumbled together, but after sorting them all out, what remained was anger.
"You ... if you were coming, why didn’t you tell me? Why is it I am always the last person to know about your schedule? Are you hiding something from me?" for the first time in two hours, Zara spoke, however, it was just her yelling angrily and everyone in the room knew that she was furious.
Quinn massaged the space between his brows as he looked at the girl, the woman he loved so much in the world, and yet now knew that it was impossible to get.
He also wanted to tell her that he was coming, but whenever he thought of hearing her voice and how much he missed her, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to hold himself back from going to her. But what was the point of being by her side when he couldn’t help her?
After knowing why that bastard got an advantage over the girl he literally raised since she was incapacitated for years, he regretted it.
He spent years gathering forces and becoming strong, but what did that benefit the person he wanted to protect the most? Nothing.
Her family was overprotective already and wouldn’t let her go without any protection. Although he successfully managed to keep his man in the villa outside, he knew that there were powerful men and women ready to take the knife and die for the Hansley family. And some of the strongest were protecting Zara in the shadows.
Unless something extremely bad and dangerous happens to them, those people would never reveal themselves. Even until now, it was difficult to know who exactly was that person or people who were protecting Zara.
All of this proved that he hadn’t done as much as he should have. If she hadn’t had that dream which forced her out of the villa to visit that village, what might have happened?
Looking at the distinctive ring on her finger which she probably hadn’t removed from the day it was placed there, he felt indignant. He was unwilling, but he knew that he had lost.
Amir had something that his loved one wanted and couldn’t live without if she wanted to live. And he was there to give it to her. Without Amir, Zara probably would be dying. He didn’t want to have many ifs, as that might lead to eternal regrets.
Instead of having a let’s wait and see approach while risking a life, he would rather believe that whatever was happening was fated to be.
As he looked at her, fuming with anger, waiting for his response. How could he tell her that in these days he wasn’t with her, he had been either fighting with her fiancé or investigating anything that he could find on him.
And the little he found made him collapse completely. He had to collect himself for the past two days before coming back home.
He wanted to reach out to her and express his feelings and beg her to not pick the other over him, but was he that selfish?
"Oh! So now you are even ignoring me?"
