Chapter 106: FUTURE PLANS 2
Chapter 106: Chapter 106: FUTURE PLANS 2
"Must you personally go? Can’t we send other people to collect the items?" Lena asked, anticipatingly.
She didn’t want to send her daughter to a faraway land where she knew no one. Who knows what dangers lie ahead?
If that could be done by someone else, then let her send those people. Why go there herself?
Zara shook her head dejectedly as she responded, "The sincerity in doing it personally is one of the perks. Even if it’s dangerous, if I don’t go, it will not be useful. I don’t have a choice in that, actually."
The statement was both truthful and false at the same time. She had to go there personally to get the relics, but at the same time, her desire to travel was also great, so she couldn’t help but be tempted.
Hearing her daughter’s firmness on the issue, Lena knew that there was nothing that she could do. If she didn’t agree, then her daughter’s death was imminent, and yet if she let her go, who knows what would be waiting for her?
She was conflicted; however, she had made a promise already. So, she was stuck.
"Mom, I will be fine. Haven’t you protected me well during the previous trip? Nothing will happen to me, trust me!" she assured her mother with a smile.
"But I ...."
"Don’t stress a lot, Mom. Just trust me again, okay? Besides, I will broadcast like I have been doing previously. You will get to see my every move, then."
"Still ...."
"You promised me!" Zara glared at her mother, who kept on trying to find excuses after excuses.
Seeing her daughter like that and cutting her with a glare, Lena knew that she wouldn’t be able to get out of this one.
"Fine. I will talk to your dad later when he comes."
Zara beamed as soon as she heard that, her eyes squinting into slits. "I love you!"
Lena chuckled at this hypocritical child. How could she confess her love now, just because she promised her something?
"I love you too!" however it felt really good listening to that. She couldn’t help but fall into her daughter’s pit.
"I know. Mom and I are forever grateful."
"That’s what moms do. If we don’t love our children, do we still deserve to be called mothers?"
Indeed, what right does a mother have if she can’t even love the child she carried into the world?
Zara was glad that her mother wasn’t a reckless one or a selfish one. Otherwise, who knows when she would have been buried by now?
The mother and daughter chatted happily, and it all revolved around Zara’s future career. Zara was happy to hear that her dad had agreed to her continuing with her broadcasts, even if it meant broadcasting their home.
And hearing that, she was grateful that her father had so much trust and faith in her. He was willing to risk it if it meant making her happy.
No matter what, she was going to repay all of this in the future. She just needed to get better first before she started daydreaming.
And her gut feeling was telling her that the time for that was getting nearer and all she needed was to persist and keep looking ahead.
Later that night, after dinner, Zara, Cade and Lena sat together in the living room as they bonded and had a great time.
Zara was more playful, excited about the fact that her father had agreed for her to continue her broadcasts.
At the same time, her father had brought her some gifts, so her mood was very uplifted, and her joy couldn’t be unmasked.
"Hehe, Dad, I will learn to cook for you. This daughter of yours will prepare a lunchbox for you. What do you think of my gift?" Zara excitedly said to her father, her chest a bit puffed up even though it was pointless.
Apart from the thick layers of the coats and fleece blankets, what else could be seen there?
Cade smiled dotingly at her daughter, who was all wrapped up like a dumpling, and responded, "As long as my baby is happy like this, Dad will be grateful. You don’t need to do something that dangerous!" refusing her daughter to do something that dangerous.
It took him a lot of will to stop the entourage from continuing their journey by the time he saw Zara playing with needles. And now she wanted to enter the kitchen? There was no way he was going to agree to that.
Zara’s mood suddenly dropped as she looked at her father with red eyes, her lips trembling as if she was going to cry at any second from now on.
"Dear, you .... Look what you have done! Can’t you just agree with her? Don’t you know how long it takes to learn to cook?" Lena chided her husband, seeing that his rejection had caused her beloved daughter to tear up.
Cade looked at his angry wife and then the teary Zara who was sniffing and felt his temples throbbing.
"Dear, I don’t want anything happening to her. How could I let her suffer?" Cade said in exasperation.
How could he bear to watch his daughter’s hands, which barely got exposed since she was always wearing gloves, be burnt just because she wanted to cook?
Even his wife barely cooked as he couldn’t stand it. So how could he just agree to her demands like that? Her heart ached for her.
"She just wants to be filial. Besides, just imagine one day bringing a lunchbox and showing off to those old foxes. Can’t you imagine it even for a bit?" Lena spoke up for her daughter, enticing her husband at the same time, hoping that he would agree.
Cade thinking about showing off his beloved daughter, his eyes suddenly light up. For years, he had lowered his head, not saying a single word about his daughter, but now that her daughter was getting better, wouldn’t it be better to do as his wife was suggesting?
Most of his friends and acquaintances hadn’t eaten food made by their daughters, but if he were to be the first, wouldn’t he make those foxes crazy with envy?
And thinking about filial piety, he couldn’t help but rack his brains to think that those children of his ever did for him. Apart from working hard in the positions he passed to them, bringing more money to the family and giving him expensive gifts, what more did they do?
Not even once did those daughters of his, and to make matters worse, they were the majority, apart from causing trouble, getting involved with men who didn’t deserve them and fighting amongst themselves. What did they do?
It seemed that he didn’t spoil his daughter for nothing.
"I guess that we can try it. However, if it’s difficult, you have to stop. I will not allow anything to happen to you!" Cade, after deliberating for a while, assessing the pros and cons, finally acquiesced.
And the moment he did, Zara’s eyes brightened as she beamed with happiness.
"Dad, I love you!" she confessed as she gave him a finger heart.
The sixty-nine years old man blushed as he looked away. When had he been attacked like that before?
"Hahaha," seeing her husband blushing and looking away like that, Lena burst into a peal of hearty laughter, unashamed of her current behavior.
Who made her more natural in front of her husband and daughter?
