Chapter 100: Chapter 100: HOME SWEET HOME 2

Two hours later.

Zara smiled as she looked at her family, who sat with her at the dining table. How long had it been since she was like that with them?

"Are you full yet?"

Sitting next to her was her mother, Lena and the woman had been piling her plate with food despite knowing that she couldn’t finish such a small hill of food.

Zara looked at her mother with a smile and replied, "Um. I am full. Thank you for the food," as she placed the spoon on an empty plate.

After feeding herself for a while, her hands were becoming a bit shaky. Besides, she had also eaten a few hours ago, so she was a bit stuffed.

Lena sighed dejectedly as she looked at the plate, which still looked full. How many spoons did her daughter eat for her to be full? Her heart couldn’t help but ache as she saw that.

Emma, watching from the side, smiled at seeing that. However, she didn’t say anything. She knew the third madam very well. She was jealous of her and if she were to speak out of turn, who knows what might happen to her?

She didn’t want to lose her job for being too nosy.

"Mom, I ate on the road before. Besides, as I get better, I will eat more. But for now, this is already enough. At least I am happy. I got to eat with all of you!" she said sincerely as she looked at her mother before looking at everyone, her gaze stopping a bit on Selena, the first mother who had always been scary to her.

"Fine! I will prepare more food for you in the future. I should be grateful for this. It’s too bad being too greedy!" Lena coaxed herself as she thought of the future.

Cade looked affectionately at Lena and Zara before resuming to eat his food.

Selena, seeing that, clenched her fists beneath the table before looking away.

Dinner went pretty well, and it was mostly Lena and Zara talking. After all, taking a closer look at how close everyone was, Zara could be said to be closer to her parents and probably Ashely than the rest.

However, she wasn’t as awkward or nervous as she was before.

After dinner, Lena took it upon herself to wheel her daughter to the living room while the rest of the family members followed.

Everyone got seated, and Zara sat on the couch between her father and mother. It was her mother’s arrangement, and she found no problem with that. She had missed being close to them for a long time. So, she was feeling a bit greedy.

"So, have you gained anything by being unruly and making everyone worried?" as soon as everyone was seated, enjoying the peaceful moment, Selena asked suddenly, glaring at Zara.

Zara’s body shook as soon as she felt the piercing gaze on her and heard the question directed at her. The malice, blame, and scorn in that tone were enough to remind her that this woman had never really liked her.

’Why did I waste my time to make hankies for these women in the first place?’ she couldn’t help but lament at her own foolishness.

However, was she still the same kid she was back then?

What should she be afraid of?

Her mother was the current madam and unless her father divorces her or her mother dies, that would never change. So why did she have to tremble with fear because of Selena?

At that time, Lena was already glaring hatefully at Selena, her eyes sparking intensely with fire and Selena didn’t seem to be backing away.

However, Zara had matured a bit. Although Selena’s tone didn’t sound pretty good, she knew that the woman wasn’t asking a random question. It was something that probably everyone here was curious to know but was just being cautious to ask her about.

After taking a deep breath, she looked at Selena with a soft smile and started replying, "I was going to talk about this, but thank you for reminding me. I can now talk about it with almost everyone around."

And hearing Zara saying that, all eyes were on her while Mitchel’s lips curled upward, her eyes sparkling with an indescribable interest.

Selena narrowed her eyes as she looked warningly at Zara, who dared to respond. Knowing this cowardly and spoiled little girl, she wouldn’t have dared to reply to her and yet after not seeing her for a few years, she grows guts. What was she trying to do?

"Baby, you don’t have to say anything if you feel uncomfortable. You can take your time!" Lena took her daughter’s hands in hers and softly said, trying to reassure her.

As much as she was curious as to what was happening and why her daughter had to go on that trip, she also understood that forcing her might not bear results. Why not let her feel comfortable first before forcing her?

She hated how Selena was still acting as if she was the madam of the house when there were four after her. Who was she trying to boss around?

Zara looked at her mother and chuckled lightly. "Mom, your daughter is not as weak as you think. Can’t you see that I am faring much better?"

"I know but ...."

"Trust me. Besides, I know that you are curious about it. Why don’t you sit there and listen? You never know how interesting all this is!" with a light chuckle, she said to her mother.

Hearing her daughter saying that, with a ’trust me’ look, Lena could only sigh and glare at Selena blaming the old woman for poking other people’s wounds.

However, now the issue begins. Just how truthful was she going to be to her family?

Furthermore, she couldn’t tell them the whole truth and expose the existence of the Golden Book or the spiritual water, which had been the other reason why she was getting better in these short few months.

Regardless of that, she knew that she needed to tell them anything or something, but it should be believable as well. Otherwise, in the future, she might end up getting banned from leaving the house.

Wouldn’t that be the beginning of a crisis?
