THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 97: STRANGER DANGER

Chapter 97: STRANGER DANGER

Fay lowered her gaze even further, praying silently that no one recognized her.

"They won’t," a voice in her head said.

"Why won’t they? She’s sitting right beside them."

Oh here we go again, she thought with an internal sigh.

"Well as you can see, she was on makeup then, but she isn’t now."

It scoffed. "That doesn’t mean any—"

"Hey Fay—"

She jerked up, startled as she felt a hand on her shoulders.

"I’m so sorry for touching you," Darla apologized profusely. "I wanted to tell you Earl said it’s okay to go ahead with your transaction," she said, her face dripping with worry.

"I’m so sorry I was that startled. I need to thank Earl," Fay said.

"Yeah, come with me then," Darla said, offering her a smile.

Carefully, Fay rose to her feet, her head still slightly lowered.

"It’s gone," she heard, and lifted her head to see that something else was playing on the screen..

Her shoulders started to relax, as she let go of the breath she didn’t know she was holding.

"I guess they must have paid to have it immediately taken down. That family is such a narcissist for protecting their violent son," one out of the two women said.

"Trouble follows him wherever he goes. I heard he’s married too. I pity his poor wife. If he’s not hitting her, it may be the fact that he can’t keep it in his pants," the other woman said.

"He’s so handsome, yet such a disappointing character. I wonder why women flock around him. Look at how he beat his uncle for no good reason. He’s so—"

"It wasn’t for no reason!" Fay, halfway through to the churning room, but her ears still back at the seats, eavesdropping, suddenly blurted out passionately.

She had kept it in for too long, but just couldn’t take one more second of Ace slander.

Sure he was wicked for impregnating Reign- well that wasn’t confirmed yet, but it didn’t change the fact that he slept with her while she was battling for her life.

Aside from that fact, he wasn’t the type to just go around hurting people. He had hit his uncle to save her. She would be ungrateful to let anyone slander his name to her ears.

"Sure, that’s the only reason. It has nothing to do with your feelings for him," she heard a voice in her head say, and completely ignored it.

Instead, she looked up to see everyone staring at her. She didn’t need to turn to know that the staff in the churning room were peeping through the window, because she could feel their burning stare on her back.

This was the point she’d usually avert her gaze, and mumble an apology for speaking out of turn. However, she was feeling brave at that moment..

Maybe it was because she didn’t just like the narrative out there about Ace. He was a womanizer, but not a people beater.

"What did you just say?" One of the gossiping women asked after the shock of her outburst started to wear off.

"It’s not good to judge people, that’s all," she quickly said.

The other woman scoffed. "What is this? Redheads sticking together? You think because the woman behind him was a redhead, that gives you some sort of chance with him? Get out of your pathetic Dreamland please," she hissed, and rolled her eyes.

"I think that’s okay," Darla suddenly intercepted. "Fay, please come with me." She moved her hand to touch her shoulders, but stopped just in time when she remembered just how startled she had been the other time.

"Can you imagine the nerve of that girl? She really thinks Ace Atticus of all people will fuck her."

The women laughed mockingly, while Fay stood there with a pink tinted highlight all over her face.

They were so openly vulgar and shaming because she defended Ace. She felt like jumping into a lion’s mouth and being chewed to death, but she wouldn’t have it another way.

She was glad she defended Ace.

"Fa—" Darla was calling, when she turned around, and gave her a smile.

"Sorry for that, let’s go please," she said.

"Are you okay? Don’t listen to those girls," she leaned forward and whispered. "It’s nice of you to defend your husband."

Fay’s eyes widened, but before she could gather enough courage to speak, Darla had walked ahead.

Her feet started to move behind her off their own accord, but she still appeared dazed..

If Darla had figured it out, she wondered if it meant that the rest of the crew knew too.

Her legs began to tingle, as the urge to leave the vicinity overwhelmed her.

The door pushed open, and Darla stood aside for her to go through.

She raised her head up to meet the smiling innocent face of the woman who had just figured out who she was.

"Go on." She urged by a nudge of her head.

Fay did as she said, but it didn’t stop her hands from quivering with nervousness.

She was guided into another room where Earl was waiting.

"Hey princess, I heard about the transaction you’d like to carry out," he said, as they stepped in.

"I’m sorry if it’s a bother. I can just leave," she said, biting her lips.

"Oh nonsense! Please sit here," he pointed at a chair. "And send us the account you’d love to deposit some money into."

It didn’t take long for the transaction to be confirmed. She smiled when her card was handed back to her. Mostly because the awe on Earl’s face when he saw her black card was priceless.

She could get used to this rich lifestyle, and that was why she needed to be careful..

Her smile swiftly disappeared as she rose to her feet.

"Thank you very much for helping out. The rest of the money would go into purchasing some ice cream for everyone in the shop, if that’s okay," she said.

Her heart began to beat faster as that declaration slipped out of her lips. She was spending Ace’s money a little too crazily, but it was for a great cause.

She still had to come up with the perfect explanation, and she may have just formed one in her head.

"Wow, that’s kind of you Miss Fay," Earl beamed.

Her frown deepened as she noticed the sudden switch.

He had gone from calling her endearing names like princess, and such, to using titles. At least, he didn’t know she was married, judging by the title he used.

"Please, just call me Fay," she said, tired of how everyone older than her kept making her feel weird with the titles.

"Alright Miss— sorry, Fay." He smiled.

She turned around awkwardly, and found Darla staring with amusement in her eyes.

"Thank you very much," she said, walking up to her.

Darla nodded. She knew she wasn’t just thanking her for the successful transaction. It was also because she kept her mouth shut after putting the dots together.

She still wasn’t sure what her story was, but to go from whatever caused her trauma which she was beginning to guess had something to do with whoever she wired some money, to marrying Ace Atticus, had to make for a pretty epic story.

"Can I hold your hands, Fay?" She asked, smiling.

"Sure," she said, pulling her purse underneath her armpit.

She stretched out her hands, and Darla grabbed it. "You may not know this yet, but you’re going to be so successful in life."

"What are you saying," Earl laughed nervously. "She has a black card. I’ll say she’s pretty successful already."

Ignoring the old man, Darla continued. "The road ahead is still stormy, but there’s so much happiness beyond that. If there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, find another tunnel. Don’t you dare give up," she rambled in parables.

By the time she let her hand go, Fay was totally confused as to what had just happened.

"Ssss!" She heard, and whipped her head behind. "Pay her no mind. She swears she’s psychic, but she’s really crazy," Earl said, demonstrating with his hand.

"I’m not crazy, old man."

Fay forced a smile. "This was really great. How about I return to the waiting area and wait for my ice cream package?"

"But you didn’t even get to taste all our flavors," Darla said, suddenly going from that serious fortune teller to the carefree woman she met when she first came into the store.

"Give my share to the other newcomer’s. Bye!" She hurried out before anyone else could try to stop her.

She didn’t slow down as she walked out of the room, and back into the tasting parlor.

The two women from before were turning their heads towards her when she scampered out of the room, and walked straight to Marilyn who was talking to a man.

"Hey Mar—" her voice faded when the man turned his head towards her.

A gasp left her throat, as she felt her spirit instantly leave her body.
