THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 61: HYSTERICS
Chapter 61: HYSTERICS
"Hey darling." Reign projected her hand for a handshake.
His gaze lowered, and then lifted. "Why are you here?" He asked in a guarded tone.
"To see you. Why else?" She smiled.
"To see me? But you were just talking to her," he raised his voice slightly so his Aunt who was approaching could hear him.
"Who?" She turned her head slightly behind. "Oh, you’re talking about your Aunt?" She scoffed. "I saw her when I arrived, and decided to say hello." She half shrugged her shoulders.
"That’s right. Nothing wrong with saying hello to people who others see as demons just because they’re trying to do the right thing," Celine, who had gotten over her initial shock of Ace’s intrusion, said, as she stepped into their midst.
Ace smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. "No one has called you a demon just yet, but I’m glad you have a knack for self descriptions. I’ll leave you two to bond. Scheme if you may. Whatever you want to do, just know it’s not going to be successful. I’ll be there to rain on your parade every time." He threw them a thumbs up, and slid into his car.
"Ace! I need to talk to you!" Reign stomped her heels, as Cam started the car.
Ace waved them goodbye, and relaxed into his seat.
He was fully aware those two were plotting. But he was too preoccupied with the bomb Grant had dropped to give them any space in his head.
"Cam? Did the construction workers really come to the house?" He referred to his driver.
"That’s what I was told. They said they were pretty upset by the entire situation. If they had gotten an explanation, it wouldn’t have been as hurtful as the total blackout."
"I see," he said.
The drive to the house was faster than the drive from the house to the office. The road had been cleared, hence the lack of traffic.
Cam stopped by the gate and let out a honk.
One of the gate men shot forward, and opened the gate.
He drove in, while Ace prepared himself for the encounter with the angry workers.
But to his surprise, he didn’t meet a crowd like expected. Instead, his home staff camped outside, watching an unraveling scene he couldn’t see from the car.
"What’s going on here?" He asked, opening his side of the door.
"I don’t know, sir. I guess the construction workers are still rioting."
"I doubt," Ace said, as he alighted from the car.
His glance darted across the compound, and came to a stop directly in front of him.
There was a woman with her back against him. An oddly familiar gait. A turn of his head saw him staring at Marilyn, who had tears in her eyes, and Alice who looked like she was about to pounce on the woman with her back turned to him.
Finally, his gaze lowered to the ground. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Fay’s frame.
Her hair alone made him aware it was her. With her head buried to the ground, he could already tell she was wailing.
Anger like an electric bolt coursed through his body, and he strode forward with a purposeful glare in his eyes.
He stopped in front of Fay, ignoring the gasps at his sudden presence. The mumblings had turned into loud whispers, but he was too focused on Fay to be concerned about gossip.
Crouching to the ground, he tapped her back. "Fay."
She thought it was a dream. Ace couldn’t be here. It just couldn’t be his voice. She had seen him go to work. He had kissed her before he left.
Kissed her.
The traumatizing thoughts were swiftly replaced by the feel of his lips on hers. In a moment as distressing as the one she was experiencing, she felt pleasure flush through the core of her existence, and she found herself lifting her head.
"Fay." Dread ran through his being as he stared at the miserable expression on her face.
Puffed nose, sunken eyes, quivering lips, swollen cheeks. His hand balled into a fist, and he straightened up.
"What the heck happened to her?!" He questioned.
Marilyn pointed straight forward. He followed the direction of her finger, turning around to see a woman with a sneer on her wicked face.
Of course he knew her. She was Fay’s Aunt.
"How are you in my house?" He asked, irritation heavy in his voice.
"She sneaked in with the workers that came to protest. No one saw her until they all left," Alice was first in line to explain.
She didn’t like the woman, and wanted nothing more than to show her just how much she despised her.
"Breaking and entering? Have you lost your mind?" He directed at her. Despite the gravity of her deeds, the smugness on her face did not die down.
It only increased by the second.
"You’re not going to stop me from seeing my niece. I raised that child like my own daughter. If you try to stop me, I’ll tell the police you’ve kidnapped my daughter," she warned.
"Yeah, you’re right. We should call the police."
He dug into his pocket, and fetched his phone.
"What do you think you’re doing?" She kept a cautious eye on him, as she took a step back.
"Calling the police."
"Fay, you wouldn’t let your husband do that to your aunt, would you? It’s me. The only parent you’ve ever known. Are you going to allow them treat me like an animal?" She asked, trying to guilt trip her.
Fay was exhausted. She was caught between the stain of her existence, and the sudden flush of desire that had overwhelmed her the second she felt Ace’s presence.
She was supposed to be innocent. Maybe her aunt was right about who she inherently was.
There was no reason she should be thinking about a kiss in a situation like this. The only conclusion had to be that she had a perverse nature.
"Fay!" She heard her aunt scream her name, but it was like she was behind a fog.
She could hear her talk, but it sounded distant in her ears.
What did she want? What would be better for her in the long run? Two polarizing results.
The former would give her momentary peace. The latter would make the peace last a little longer.
If only she could just make her lips move. Find her way through the fog protecting her from her aunt’s viciousness so she could save the woman from Ace’s wrath.
"You’ll regret this girl! If I’m picked up by the police, I’ll never forgive you. You’re going to leave your sisters without a mother? Just because you seduced an unsuspecting rich man so you can kill him in the end and claim his inheritance?" She laughed maniacally, and turned to Ace.
"You think she loves you? Oh, you probably think she’s a good person. Well, she’s not. She seduced my husband when she was only fourteen. She made poor Gabriel kiss her on the day he was supposed to be an altar boy. I can go on and on about the degeneracy of the girl you’ve brought into your home, and made your wife!"
The call ended, and Ace turned to her. "All of this, yet you want to continue your relationship with her?" He laughed sardonically. "You’re pathetic."
"I don’t want her leaving the compound until the cops arrive," he threw the order at everyone present.
Bending, he scooped a warm Fay into his arms. "Let’s go in," he whispered, as she buried her face in his chest.
"Fay!" Lynee called in desperation. "You’re risking a curse on your life, girl. What did the bible say? Honor your parents so that your days may be long on earth. You’re going to die, Fay! You’re going to die."
Alice had heard enough from the disgusting woman.
"You need to stop talking!" She screamed at her.
"Or what? I’ll tell everyone the truth. They need to know she’s a demon. She’s destruction. Legion! Fay will end you all!" She continued hysterically.
It was only when she started to hear the blare of sirens, she realized things had taken a turn for the worse.
She turned around, and took to her heels. No one pursued. They all silently watched to see how she could possibly escape through the gate.
"Open this fucking gate, you bastards!" She screamed at the top of her voice.
"Your wish," the gateman said.
He opened the gate, and she dashed outside, coming face to face with the police who had come down from their van.
"Are you Mrs Lynne?"
"Who— who are you?" She stuttered in confusion, taking steps back.
She looked behind her, and the gate was closed. In front of her, there were police officers all around.
Her eyes darted to her left, hoping to make a run for it. But before she could make good of her imagination, an officer stepped forward, and seized her.
"I’m not Lynne!" She screamed at the top of her voice, but it was of no use.
As she was dragged into the van, she had just one thought in mind; To kill Fay Landon.
