THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 235: OBSESSIVE
Chapter 235: OBSESSIVE
"He—He really—I just can’t deal with this. I have a child waiting for me," Fay said, although through harsh uneven breath.
"Fay, I think you should help us–"
"Don’t you dare Landon. How much more do I need to compromise? He’s the one that chose to abandon his own daughter a night before her birthday. I’m– I’m done!" She struggled to say.
Turning around, she hurried to her car, and drove roughly out of the compound.
Back at the intersection, she crossed over to the other side, whilst Ace drove straight ahead.
His heart sat in silence as he drove. Too afraid that if he welcomed a thought, he would grow weaker than he already was.
The little traffic that had formed began to clear up, and he moved the car.
Half an hour later, he stopped in front of the King’s mansion, and honked.
One of the gate guys stepped out, and smiled when he saw it was Ace.
He swiftly opened the gate, and Ace drove in.
Quietly, Ace walked into the house, to find Reign already waiting in the living room.
It was almost as if she had anticipated his presence.
"You came," she said, and walked up to him.
He smiled weakly, looking around.
"He’s in his room," she said when she noticed his eye movement.
"Can I see him?" Ace asked..
"Sure."
Grinning from ear to ear, she led him through the halls, and stopped in front of her father’s room.
Reign opened the door, and they both stepped in.
"He’s going to the hospital tomorrow. The doctor said he needs to be admitted."
Ace couldn’t believe what a fine job they had done in this act.
There were all these machines King was tied to.
He walked up to him, and even smiled as he stared at him.
"I hope you survive this, because you have the strength to," he said.
"I think he’s resting now. Maybe we should talk, just you and I?" Reign suggested.
"Sure. I was going to take you somewhere, anyway," he said, calmly.
"Really?!" Her eyes widened in excitement. "I’ve been cooped up all day, tending to my father. I don’t mind it, but it’ll be nice to go out," she said.
"Let’s go then."
Ace didn’t talk much throughout the drive. As he drew closer to the location they were headed, his heart began to race.
It was a welcome action, because he had been too calm for his liking.
He drove through a bushy part, and finally stopped the car.
"You really brought me to this place?" Reign gasped, when she saw it was the same spot they had decided to start dating.
She loved it because she loved heights. It made her feel on top of the world.
He came down from the car, after her. She had already walked to the edge of the cliff.
It was dark already, but it didn’t stop her from spreading her hands like a bird, and soaking in the night wind.
"I feel like I can fly!" She screamed..
He swallowed the lump in his throat, and walked forward.
Standing beside her, he looked down the cliff.
It was almost never ending. A fascinating sight to see.
"Why did you bring me here, Ace?" She asked when the high wore off a little.
"I have a daughter," he said.
She laughed, but stopped when she didn’t see a hint of a smile on his face.
"You’re not joking, are you?" She asked.
"Why would I joke about something as important as that?"
"I don’t understand. How can you have a child?" Her face contorted in confusion.
"Do you remember four years ago when you accused Fay of lying and manipulation, and I believed you?" He asked, his voice still incredibly calm.
"Yes, and it wasn’t just an accusation. You saw the evidence. It was true."
His hand inside the jacket he was wearing, tightened into a fist.
All this while, he had assumed Fay was the liar.
He had finally seen what a true liar looked like.
"Do you want to know what I did before I embarrassed her in front of everyone, that night?" He asked.
"I don’t know why that’s important, but sure, go ahead."
"I brought her to the garden, made her feel safe with me, and then slept with her. It was uncomfortable, and pitiful, but perhaps the best sex of my life, because it was with her. Does it matter though? It was all part of my plan to humiliate her," he laughed bitterly.
"Ace, I don’t understand why you’re telling me this. Did we come all this way to talk about Fay?"
"We have to. She’s the mother of my child. That singular act, conceived a child. A beautiful daughter. You should see her. She’s a striking image of me."
"No," Reign shook her head, and staggered a step back. "It can’t be. She’s lying to you. Can’t you see she’s trying to manipulate you? A daughter? Oh please!" She waved dismissively.
"Why would she try to manipulate me with a child that looks exactly like me, Reign? Perhaps, could it be something you’re capable of doing? Manipulation, and lying about children, I mean?" He asked, still very much in control of his emotions.
Reign began to shiver. She didn’t know where this information session was going, but she didn’t like it at all.
"Ace, I would never—"
"A long time ago, Landon and I decided to bug the lake house," he interrupted her. "I specifically asked him to not touch my room, but thank God he didn’t listen to me. We recently rolled the tapes back to the night you swore we slept together. Do you want to know what I saw?"
He finally lifted his head to face her, and had her heart lurched to her mouth.
The anger she saw in his eyes almost made her turn around, and disappear.
But like the expert she was, she swore to maneuver her way out of this.
"Ace, I can explain," she said in a shaky, vulnerable voice.
"You know Reign, it hit me right after that discovery. There’s a reason Colin has been so distant, and hateful. I know he used to randomly comment on how hot you were. I never knew he was actually interested, because he did have a girlfriend."
"Ace, I swear I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Stop lying, Reign!" He screamed out of the blues.
She jolted in shock at the swift change in his voice.
He had played nice, but she didn’t have the decency to reciprocate.
There was no need to give grace to those who weren’t willing to return it, he thought.
"Ace—" she burst into tears. "I love you, Ace. I’ve always loved you. Yes I lied about the child, but nothing else was a lie, I promise," she said through tears.
He burst into a feat of maniacal laughter. It was like he was losing his mind. Even in the face of the truth, she just held on to her lies.
"Ace–" she tried to touch him, but he easily evaded her touch.
"I don’t want to blame anyone for my actions, because we’re all autonomics humans, right? But I treated her worse than dirt, Reign. All for what? For your lies? You made nasty videos of the woman I love. Manipulated me using my number one weakness- my family. I spent the last four years tolerating you, all for what, Reign?"
"No!" She screamed loud, and her voice echoed around. "No! No! No!" She kept screaming.
"No what, Reign? No, what?!" He matched her tone.
"I didn’t lie about Fay. She did everything. And even if I did, it was all for love. Can’t you see it, Ace? I love you so much. I’ve always loved you. I can’t live without you. It’s not even a problem that you don’t touch me. As long as I can breathe the same air with you, Ace, I’m fucking satisfied!" She cried amidst tears.
"Yeah that’s because you get your sexual satisfaction from Colin, don’t you? And I don’t even give a toss about all of that. You connived with Celine to ruin me, pinned my cousin’s child on me, destroyed every chance I have with being with Fay, that is not love, Reign. Can’t you see it? It’s a sick obsession!"
"And I don’t care!" She stomped her foot, and dropped to the ground, as she cried. "I don’t care if you call it obsession. Being around you makes me feel alive. Not being around you makes me feel dead inside. That’s all that matters to me," she cried, and held on to his leg.
"Let me go, Reign."
"I can’t! I just can’t!" She shook her head vigorously.
"Can’t you see we’re toxic for each other? I was going to go away for a while, and not return until I got my shit together. But halfway out, I thought hell no. I owe my daughter my presence. I have to make up for the last four years of my absence. So take this as me saying goodbye to you forever. I have to do right by my daughter."
He tried to pull his leg away, but she held on firmly, as she cried.
"I’ll kill myself, Ace. I’ll kill everyone around you too. If I can’t have you, on my life Ace, no one will!"
"You’ve gone crazy, Reign! Let me go!"
"I said no!"
She insisted at the same time a car rolled to a stop in front of them, and as the doors swung open, Mr King stepped out.
