Chapter 217: REVELATION GALORE

"Hey," Ace gave her a big smile. "It’s getting late and I need to return home, alright? How about we see each other another time?" He asked.

Dreams face fell. "But you promised we’d talk when you bring mummy home," she muttered.

"Dream, baby, it’s late, alright? Let’s just go in, so I can tuck you into my bed. Yeah, you heard right, you’ll be sleeping in mummy’s bed tonight. Cool, yeah?" Fay asked.

"I guess. I just wish daddy could say too," she said at the verge of tears.

Fay’s heart twisted painfully. She hated to see her daughter hurt. It would have been way better if she had never found out about Ace.

How was she supposed to keep them apart if it was just day one, and they already had a bond?

"Can I hold her?" She heard Ace ask.

She didn’t want to let go. She couldn’t let go. It was still too painful to do that. But she didn’t have a choice. Her babys lips were already quivering. Any second now, she’d burst into tears.

"Sure," she said, her voice breaking.

She turned to him, and handed Dream over.

With shaky hands, he carried Dream into his body, feeling relief wash through him the second he did.

She wasn’t going to admit this was his child. He knew that already. But he knew what he knew, and that was all that mattered.

"Hey, princess. You’re so pretty," he whispered as he hugged her tightly.

Fay’s eyes watered, making her throw her face to the side. She had not cried over anything Ace related in years. It wasn’t going to start now.

"Can you come live with us?" Dream asked in her childish innocence. "My birthday is this weekend. You should come," she said.

"I have to say no to one of your requests, baby. I can’t come live with you just yet. Your mummy and I still have a lot to talk about. But I’ll definitely come for your birthday."

"Yay! Will you bring me lots of gifts?" She asked.

"You know one time, myself, your mother, and your uncle cleared out an entire store to buy a child very dear to us a gift. I’d do that ten times over for you," he replied, and stroked her hair.

Fay’s thoughts went to that day at the children’s store.

She hadn’t understood just how powerful he was, until that day.

None of that mattered anymore. Because you could also say that day was the beginning of the end for them.

"I think that’s enough now," she turned around. "It’s going to be way past Dream’s bedtime soon."

"No mummy! I want to stay with daddy. PawPaw, tell mummy to leave us alone," she whined.

"Nice try, but you have to sleep. Come to mummy." She opened her arms.

Dream’s shoulder collapsed, as she placed a kiss on Ace’s cheeks.

He returned her kiss to her forehead, and gave her a big smile.

"We’ll see in five days, okay?"

"Okay daddy."

Before Fay could carry from his arms, her grandfather stepped forward, and reached out to her first.

She threw him a questioning look, as he adjusted Dream into his body.

"You two need to talk about the car," he said pointedly, before turning around, and walking inside.

"Bye daddy!" Dream screamed.

"Bye princess," he replied.

"You shouldn’t have driven me into the compound," Fay said after they had disappeared into the house.

"Should I have left you outside the gate, instead?"

"You should have. You’re giving my child some false hope. We both know I’m not going to allow you to come to her birthday, or even get close to her."

"Are you finally admitting that she’s my daughter?" he tilted a brow.

"Believe whatever you choose to believe. Your car keys are inside the house, I’ll go get them."

She moved, but he drew her right back to where she was standing before.

"Let go!" She shrugged his hands away angrily.

"I’m not trying to fight you, Fay. But if you’ll just calm down enough to think, you’ll see I already drove Landon’s car here. I can’t possibly drive two cars. Which means, I have to come pick it up tomorrow. Hmm, maybe I’ll be seeing my daughter sooner than the weekend after all."

Her face reddened with rage. He was clearly trying to provoke her. Nothing else could explain why he was so hell-bent on pushing her.

"I’ll have someone drop it off tomorrow. You don’t have to come here. Even if you do, I’ll give the gate guys specific instructions not to let you in," she retorted.

"Why don’t you drop off the car yourself, then?" He asked, bringing his eyes to her lips.

She was about to bite it, when she caught herself just in time.

"Have the night you deserve, Ace," she turned around, and left him standing by his car, watching her leave.

When she got to the door, her hand settled on it for a few seconds, before she opened it, and banged it shut behind her.

Ace smiled at her show of anger. Things were starting to get more interesting. Good or bad, he couldn’t wait to see the end of the drama.

Turning around, he entered into his car, and drove out of the Luxes mansion.

Fay watched her daughter sleep. She had spent a good hour questioning her about her father.

She had never seen her eyes light up the way it did when she confirmed Ace was really her father.

She grabbed her little arms into hers, and smiled down on her sleeping face.

"You look just like him. It was a miracle I could keep you hidden for as long as I did," she muttered to the sleeping child.

"I hope you understand this fight is between your father and I. I don’t want you to get in-between, because you’d just get hurt. I love you so much, my darling," she said, getting teary eyed again.

But instead of leaning into the tears, she swallowed the pain, and forced a smile.

"Goodnight, my love."

She placed a kiss on her head, and rose to her feet.

As she fastened her night robe, a knock sounded on her door.

Anticipating his presence, she walked to the door, and opened it.

"Are you ready to talk now?" Seth asked.

She nodded affirmatively.

He stepped out of the way, and gestured for her to go through.

Taking a few seconds, she checked her sleeping daughter once more, before walking out of the room.

She followed Seth to the balcony, where he had surprisingly provided everything they’d need.

"Did you get me chocolates?" She asked, taking a seat on one of the chairs he placed there.

"Yep. I thought you must have gone through a lot today, and needed a little sweetness."

He took the chair opposite hers, a small glass table separating them.

On the table were varieties of chocolates, a wine bottle, a whiskey bottle, and some bottles of water.

"Even our important conversations are these bougie. I love being rich," she laughed at her shallowness.

"You sound exactly like, Dream."

"Yeah we spoil her a lot, don’t we?" She grew serious long enough to ask.

"She deserves it. No one’s ever going to maltreat her, because she knows her worth," he explained.

"That I can agree with."

They continued with the small talks, until Seth finally moved to the elephant in the room.

"Why do you suddenly want to know about your parents?"

She had stretched to pick up a chocolate when he asked. Her hands paused mid motion, as her heart thumped.

She reclined into her seat without picking up anything, and instead, swallowed her saliva to suddenly wet her throat.

"I guess we have to talk about that," she finally said.

"We do. But first, I want to know why you want to know."

"Because I want to know the facts when I enact my revenge on the Atticus."

"Hmmm," he bobbed his head slowly. It was still all about revenge for her, he thought. "Alright then."

Her hands wrapped around her body before he started to speak. She wanted to shield herself somehow, in case it got too painful.

"Let’s start with your father then?" He reached down to his left, and picked up a book. Handing it over to her, he urged her to open it.

Her eyes squinted with curiosity, as she began to open the book.

"Wow!" She gasped, when she saw the picture of a man. "My father?"

"Yeah, he was a handsome man."

She stared at the picture. He should have been about her age four years ago. He was tall, and had pretty dark hair. Green eyes too.

"I got my eyes from him?" Her fingers reached out to touch his face in the picture.

"Indeed, you did. And if it wasn’t for my stupidity, he would have raised you himself. You know how the story goes. I told you that day at the beach," he whispered inaudibly, almost painfully.

"I know. But I want to know what the matriarch and the Atticus have to do with everything," she said in a quaky voice.

"As you wish," he said, and cleared his throat.
