THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 139: BILLIONAIRE FLEX

Chapter 139: BILLIONAIRE FLEX

"Cam, if you had a girl child, what would you get her as a gift for her birthday?" Fay asked as they walked through the different aisles.

"Maybe a little doll? Little girls like that, don’t they?"

"I guess. But don’t you think it’s a little generic?"

"I mean, you’re also right."

"Wait," she stopped, an idea forming in her head.

Cam stopped too, satisfied with watching her. He could go round with her all day and not be bored. She had the curious mind of a child.

There was always a question at the tip of her tongue, and he had never been happier to provide answers to anyone.

"Do you think she would like a diary? You know at that age, I wished I had one. Sometimes, you just want to pour out your soul to an inanimate object. Something she can reference later in the future. What do you think?" She clapped excitedly.

Some shoppers next to them turned and smiled.

"Sorry." she bit her lips, and her face fell.

"What are you sorry for?" He asked, confused.

"Because of me, those people are looking at us strangely. I’m embarrassing you, aren’t I? Well it’s not intentional. You see, I’ve never actually had enough money to buy someone a proper gift. I want to be able to splurge. Is that selfish?"

He almost broke into a feat of laughter, but held himself back quite admirably. She was somebody of a yapper. He found it adorable.

If only his boss was here to see his wife in her full element.

"Mrs Fay, I don’t think those people are laughing at you. I dare say they’re admiring you."

"Me?" She touched her chest, a startling expression dancing on her face. "Why would they admire me?"

"Well for starters, you’re gorgeous, and exciting. Why won’t they?"

She smiled despite herself. "Everyone keeps saying that. Maybe I should apply for the next Miss World pageant." She teased.

"You should," an old man who was shopping with his wife said.

She turned and discovered he was staring at her. "Hello sir." She waved.

"Hello to you too, gorgeous. And yes, I would vote for you in a pageantry."

His wife turned, and Fay expected her to go fully ballistic on her. It wouldn’t be the first time she was caught in a position where a man talked to her, and their significant other decided to punish her for it.

She was stunned when the woman smiled. "She’s gorgeous. I wish our Daisy could grow up and be just as gorgeous as she is."

"Who is Daisy?" Fay was only too excited to ask.

"She’s the little girl we adopted. I’ve never been able to conceive, you know. After years of trying in vain, we decided to focus our energy on adopting. We got our baby last year, and she turns six next week. I have to find the perfect gift for her because she’s just a blessing.".

Fay was so touched, she blinked and found her eyes moist. "That’s so thoughtful and nice of you two. With how gracious you both are, I’m certain that little girl feels blessed."

"Why, that’s so nice of you! I know you’re going to make a wonderful mother yourself. Your husband is lucky to have you for a wife," the old woman said, her eyes trailing towards Cam.

"Me? Oh I’m not—"

"No, he’s not her husband. I am," Ace said, walking into their midst.

The couple turned at the same time, and saw Ace Atticus with his hand pushed into his pants pockets, and his best friend Landon standing beside him.

"Hey Fay." Landon waved at her.

Fay, too stunned by Ace’s sudden appearance, couldn’t find her voice to return Landon’s greeting.

"You look so much like the billionaire," the old woman said, drawing closer to him. "Right honey?"

"Yes. The one that was in the news for beating his uncle."

"Is this man your husband?" She turned her head behind to question Fay.

Fay was caught between whatever this was, and his presence. She couldn’t possibly deny him. She also didn’t want a crowd to gather when they discovered it was actually Ace Atticus.

"He is," she said.

The corner of Ace’s lips curved into a smile. He couldn’t believe they could even have considered Cam as Fay’s husband. He almost wanted to tell him not to ever drive her anywhere, anymore.

"Are you satisfied now, nosy Mrs?"

"Ace!" Landon called alarmed.

"What?" He shrugged. He didn’t see anything wrong with what he asked. She was the one that confused his driver for his wife’s husband. Why did he have to show her any grace?

"How could someone as beautiful and kind as she is, marry someone as rude as you?" The old woman questioned in a puzzled tone.

"Same way a man as calm as he is, married someone who likes to be in other people’s business. Do you see where I’m going with this old lady?"

"Ace!"

Cam couldn’t help his amusement. He threw his head to the side so no one would see his amused smile. He had almost forgotten that his boss wasn’t the biggest respecter of ages. Both the very old and very young could get it from him.

The older lady gasped. "You’re just awful! I will pray for the soul of your wife. God knows she needs it."

She turned around and went to her husband. "Honey, let’s leave."

"Yes love." The older man quickly placed her hands into his, and guided her away

As he walked past Fay, he touched her hair with his free hands, and smiled. "God save you child," he said, and his wife nodded in agreement.

"Bye!" Ace made sure he raised his voice so they could hear him as he waved them goodbye.

"Really?" Fay finally found her voice when they had left.

Shaking her head, she moved to walk past him. But before she could, he drew her back until she was facing him.

"Okay, I think I should leave," Landon said, and Cam nodded in agreement.

In a split second, they had disappeared, leaving the couple alone.

"Are you following me?" She asked, stepping out of his hold.

"Uhmmm, no? I stopped by to buy a gift for Sophie, and happened to run into you. Do you really think I was following you?"

"Good," she bobbed her head, hating how her feelings were a little hurt that he wasn’t following her. "Do your shopping, and I’ll do mine."

"With what money?" He asked, wanting to know how she could afford to shop when she explicitly stated she wasn’t going to use his card anymore.

Her heart caught against her chest, as she turned right back around. "I told you I kept some money for myself that day I went to the ice cream store."

"And I pretended to believe you because I didn’t want to push it. I’m no fool Fay, and you’re not a good liar. What money do you plan on using?"

"How is it your business? Maybe if you pay me like you said you will, I’ll have some money!" She bit her lips in shock at her outburst. Rotating her head, she looked to see if there was anyone around.

Her heart settled a bit when she discovered they were alone in that aisle.

"Oh?" He lifted his brow, amazed at the fire coming from her. There were two things he knew about Fay. She was timid and naive. He couldn’t understand where this sudden fierceness was coming from.

And to crown the enigma was his excitement at this side of her. It was sexy. Especially because of how red in the face she got after an outburst like that. Not to forget, the lip bite. Now that was something he definitely missed.

"If you like, we can go to the bank on Monday to open you a new account. But do you think it’s something we should be talking about in public?"

"You started it," she muttered, her face buried to the ground.

"You’re right, I did. I should be more careful with my words."

She raised her head, and her eyes squinted. "That’s strange," she said.

"What is strange, Fay?" He folded his hands, awaiting her answer.

The picture he presented momentarily stole her breath away. She felt her vision being clouded with mist that all dissolved into him. He didn’t have any right to be this beautiful. Because every time she thought she was getting stronger, all he needed to do was exist, and she was right back to square one.

"What is strange?" He repeated.

Her lips parted to reply when an angry customer screamed from behind.

"How is it fair we can’t check an aisle because someone is standing there? This is injustice and total disregard of law!"

Ace turned and Fay lifted her head. There was a man and three other people trying to get to the aisle Ace and Fay occupied, but two hefty men stationed at its entrance wouldn’t let them in.

The other side was blocked too by two burly men.

"Did you do this?" Fay asked, alarmed.

"No. But by the looks of it, Landon took the initiative. Nice." He bobbed his head slowly, smiling with pride.

"Not nice! People are trying to shop, Ace."

He returned his attention to her, and smiled. "And I’m trying to talk to my wife. There are other spots in this big store. They can go there." He shrugged.

"You’re joking, right?"

"Joking?" He laughed, and took a step forward. "Would you feel more at ease if I bought the entire building?" He bent and leaned forward so he was levelled with her.

"Wh-y– Why would you do—th-at?" She stuttered.

"Because I really want to kiss you, and I know you won’t let me do it, if people are watching."
