THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 127: THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT
Chapter 127: THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT
Fay’s buzzing phone woke her up the next morning.
She rolled, and almost fell to the ground when her eyes pushed wide open.
"Go away," she mumbled, wondering who could be calling her so early.
When the phone wouldn’t stop buzzing, she straightened up irritably, and began searching for the direction the buzz was coming from.
Her eyes went to the bedside table, and there the stubborn bastard laid.
Pouting at her interrupted rest, she rolled to the other side of the bed, and grabbed the phone.
The remnant of sleep left her eyes as soon as it saw the name on the screen.
"Good morning ma’am," she said in a sharp voice.
"Good morning Fay. I’m sorry for disturbing your morning sleep. I just wanted to tell you we may have a reason to go out today. Do you think you’re up for it?" The matriarch asked.
"I am!" She said enthusiastically.
"Great! I’ll call you when I’m almost at the house."
The matriarch ended the call, and Fay returned the phone back to its position. She was grabbing the covers over her body, when a knock sounded on her door.
"Please go away," she mumbled a small cry.
She was a little too popular this morning. Suddenly, everyone wanted to talk to her. She had slept with a hungry stomach and woke up even more hungry and irritable.
She just wanted to be alone for a few hours. And she was going to get that alone time, even if she had to play the ignoring game.
Forgetting she didn’t lock the doors with its keys, she folded herself into the bed, pretending to still be asleep.
The sound of the knob turning drew her attention, and she sighed in defeat.
She had no other choice than to straighten into a sitting position, and wait for whoever it was to come in.
"Mrs Fay! Good morning!"
It was Alice’s voice she heard. But she had sounded a little too much like Marilyn with all of that glee and chirpiness.
"Good morning Alice," she replied, noticing the tray in her hand.
"I couldn’t sleep all night because I didn’t watch you eat before going to bed. I had to be up early to prepare this for you. Don’t worry, I didn’t tell sir Ace you couldn’t eat the food he bought you. I refrigerated it for when you’re ready to eat it."
That was all she needed to hear to snap out of her need to be alone. Fresh food that wasn’t from Ace, she would be first in line for that.
Alice grabbed a little table and placed the tray on it.
"Come take a look Mrs Fay," she said, as she walked to the blinds and opened it. "It’s a beautiful day," she said behind her shoulders. "So many birds decided to start their day in the garden. I think they go tell their colleagues there is a nice place they can lay their heads. They multiply by the day." She made small talks as she returned to the spot where Fay had taken position.
Fay was already tearing into whatever it was Alice had brought her. She had never seen that kind of meal before, and she didn’t care. All she knew was she was hungry, and there was tasty food to satisfy her.
"Wow, you woke up really hungry, Mrs Fay."
"I did." She nodded, her words blocked by the mouthful of food she was chewing.
"I’ll leave you to enjoy breakfast."
She smiled and walked away. The second the door closed behind her, Fay began stuffing more food into her mouth.
Over and over again until there was no space left. Chewing was painful because of how full her mouth was, but everytime she swallowed, the satisfaction she got was better than whatever pain she felt.
In a few minutes, she had taken down every piece of food on that plate. She ignored the juice, and settled for water instead.
After she had downed the bottle of water, she covered her mouth and belched into her palms.
"Wow!" She blurted when her mouth was no longer full enough to block out her words. "I thought I was going to die. But we made it, and it’s a new day."
She sat still, giving the food some few minutes to digest. Using that time to look around her room which was filled with natural light, thanks to Alice for opening her blinds, she basked in the glow.
The previous day may have been filled with pain, and sorrows, but this day was looking better already.
She would prepare herself later for the matriarch’s call. Everything was going to be fine. As long as she didn’t bump into Ace, she would be fine.
Jumping to her feet after the minutes she gave the food to digest had been exhausted, she walked over to her dressing table.
"Time for our daily affirmations, baby girl."
She began the whole process of calling herself pretty again. She knew if she kept on saying it, she would start to believe it. She couldn’t wait for the day when she started to believe positive things about herself.

"The matriarch said she was going to stop by to pick you? Are you sure about that? Because it’s already noon," Marilyn said to Fay who had stopped by the kitchen to chat with her and Alice.
"I think if it was important, the matriarch would have called already. She knows you have to be discreet because of sir Ace. Soon, it would be evening, and he would be preparing to come back home. He was already so worried about you last night when he found out you had not returned yet. Why didn’t you go to him to let him know about your presence? Did you two have another fight?" Alice asked.
Fay sighed. Over and over again, these women had proven to have her back. She owed them a big part of her sanity in this humongous house.
She was going to begin a new journey soon, and she owed it to them, to tell them the truth.
"How private is the kitchen area?" She asked, her heart rate surging just a little.
"The other staff stay away when Marilyn and I are in here. Why?" Alice questioned.
"Are you alright, Mrs Fay?" Marilyn asked, noticing she had lost the little bit of colour she gained from being active.
"I just need to tell the both of you something I would love to be between the three of us."
"You can speak freely here," Marilyn urged.
Alice stopped the vegetables she was dicing and gave her all her attention.
"I don’t know how to tell you both this. Promise you won’t be mad at me, or even hate me for keeping this from you for this long?" She bit her lips nervously as her gaze darted between both women.
"I could never hate you, Mrs Fay. You’re like a child to the both of us. Don’t you know that?" Marilyn asked.
"We adore, and love you so much. How many times do you need to hear us say it?" Alice added.
She smiled, bobbing her head with a renewed sense of confidence. They would understand why she couldn’t tell them before. She had really wanted to, but she needed to know she could actually trust them before she did.
Now she was certain she could trust them with her life, there was no point in keeping things from them anymore.
"It’s about my marriage to your boss," she took a deep breath, and just decided to spill everything. "It’s not real. Ace approached me for a contract marriage that is supposed to last for just a year. I agreed because I had gone through a rollercoaster of a day, and there he was, saving me. He also offered a watering amount that I just couldn’t turn down. I know you’ve both wondered and even suspected that there was something wrong with our marriage. Well now you know the truth. Things are awkward between us because it isn’t real."
"Don’t say that," Marilyn moved forward, and roped her into a hug. "We suspected it could be the case. There are not many newlyweds that sleep in separate rooms, anyway. But this only means you’ve been going through so much for something you didn’t think would be this difficult. I’m so sorry, Fay," she said.
Fay fought back tears. She had called her by her name. That was all that mattered. She wasn’t going to cry and end up ruining her day.
"Thank you for understanding."
As she pulled away, Alice replaced her. "I always knew, Fay. I knew. That’s why I was always extra sweet to you. You don’t deserve everything you’ve had to endure so far. Know this, it may have started out as a contract marriage, but it’s not that way anymore. Or am I lying?" She pulled her away, and held her by the shoulders.
"I don’t know anymore, Alice. Everything is so confusing. I don’t want it to be, but your boss? Ace has made sure it would remain that way," she said in a note of finality.
