THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 113: THE DEEP BLUE SEA
Chapter 113: THE DEEP BLUE SEA
Fay received the email from Ace, and quickly hurried to her room.
She was about to change into garden clothes when she paused, and pulled out the email again. She read through it, and slowly, a thought formed in her head.
Walking to her dresser instead, she stared at it for a couple of seconds. When she didn’t see what she was looking for on top of it, she moved to the drawers.
"Found you!" She beamed, grabbing a bottle of perfume.
The last time she made one for the matriarch, she had made this extra one just because the notes were so strong in her mind, and she couldn’t afford to not make it.
It was very strange that there happened to be a person whose personality was very much suitable for the fragrance.
"I don’t even need to make a new perfume!" She danced around the room.
The door suddenly opened, and Leighton came inside, snacking heavily on pancakes.
"I had to run, Fay. Alice was about to stuff me to my death with food. I saw my life flash before my eyes, but I just couldn’t stop eating," she said, and bit into a piece in her hand.
Fay stopped dancing long enough to look at her. For someone who was complaining about being overfed, she couldn’t seem to stop eating.
She understood it though. Alice was that good of a chef. The moment you tasted her food, it became everything you could think of.
"What’s that?" Leighton asked mid chew.
"It’s a bottle of perfume. I randomly made it sometime ago. The notes were so crazy, I wondered if I’d ever use it myself, or find a personality strong enough to give it to. Guess what?"
"What?"
"I just did! The person Ace asked me to make a perfume for. Her personality matches this scent so much. Come, take a look."
She shoved the last piece of her pancake into her mouth, careful not to commit the grave sin of mixing food with fragrance.
Chewing really fast until it was all gone, she walked forward, and accepted the bottle in Fay’s hands.
"Wow, it’s strong! Bold. Stands out a lot. This is really good, Fay."
"I know!" She shrieked with excitement.
"And it’s— hold on," she said when she caught her ringtone.
Using her vision, she traced the sound to the bed. She walked over to the bed and grabbed her phone
"It’s work," she mouthed as she answered the call.
"Yeah, sure." She ended the call, and her face fell.
"What’s wrong, Leigh?" Fay hurried to her side.
"It’s the hospital. I have a patient who needs my presence. I’m sorry, but I have to leave now."
"It’s no problem. I was really enjoying your company, but you have to work. Your job is too important."
"Can I take a quick shower, first?"
"Do you even need to ask? Go!" Fay laughed, as Leighton handed her the bottle, after taking another sniff.
She returned to her drawer, and began searching for the residual box from the batch she had used for the matriarch.
Finding it, she searched for glues, and tapes, then returned to the bed.
Carefully, she placed the bottle in the form of a heart shape into the box with a hole carved in a heart shape. It fit into it like a glove, making her realise it really was meant to be.
Before she could stop herself, she picked out a note card and began to write on it.
It wasn’t until she was done, before she realised what she had done. But she didn’t stop there, she placed it behind the box,and sealed it with glue.
Nodding her head, at her creation, she waited for Leighton to finish taking her bath, so she could take hers, and have someone deliver the box to the office.
The substitute driver in Ace’s house welcomed Fay into the car, and shut the door behind her.
She smiled, as she sat with her knees pressed together, and the box, secured in a fancy bag, sitting prettily on her laps.
Marilyn, and Alice had helped pick up an outfit for Ace’s hotel.
She had contemplated not going herself, but instead, sending someone else. But after placing a call to Ace, and he didn’t respond, Marilyn had helped her dial Landon.
He was the one who told her to deliver it herself, because he couldn’t trust anyone else to safeguard it the way he was sure she would.
The vote of confidence really made her excited.
She didn’t know Landon like that, but because he had entrusted her with this task, she planned to carry it out to the best of her ability.
Unable to keep the smile off her face, she turned her head towards the house, and discovered both Marilyn and Alice waving her goodbye.
Stretching a nervous finger forward, she returned their waves.
They really did believe in her too, so she couldn’t fail them either.
"Bye Mrs Fay!" She heard Frank’s voice, and her smile broadened.
He had such a funny personality, he didn’t need to do much to have her cracking up.
The car passed through the gate, and she reclined into the seat.
Her heart began to thump loudly against her chest. This was the first time she would be familiarising herself with Ace’s real world. His work world.
"First time?" Her pessimistic voice questioned.
She stopped, and began to search her mind. She tried to remember if Ace had mentioned the name of the hotel. He hadn’t, but she was pretty certain she had heard the driver talk about it.
"Sorry Sir," she asked, after a few seconds of encouraging herself to toss aside her embarrassment and ask him.. "What’s the name of the hotel we’re headed"
Her heart rate surged as she waited for a response. He would probably consider her a bad wife for not knowing the name of her husband’s hotel. At least she knew that his company was Spade. That should count for something.
"Mrs Fay, were you talking to me?"
"Oh," she thought, releasing the breath she had been holding. He didn’t even know she was talking to him. "Yes I was," she said.
"Sorry, what was your question again? I was trying to beat the traffic behind us, and didn’t hear you."
"I just wanted to know the name of the hotel we’re headed to," she replied, more confident than before.
"Oh, it’s the deep blue sea."
Her heart did a double take. That was the hotel they had gotten wedded in. Same hotel his grandfather’s burial rites were performed.
That memory felt like forever ago. She had been married to Ace a little over three months, but she really did feel like it was longer than that.
"Thank you sir," she said.
"No please, call me George."
"Okay George," she nodded, and returned her attention to the buildings they continuously drove by.
She was grateful he wasn’t using one of those tinted windows that made it impossible to know where one was.
Smiling, as she took in as much as she could, she felt her heart begin to relax.
There was nothing to worry about. Ace was being a good boy. He had been really nice last night, and had also kissed her this morning. Everything was fine. And those that weren’t, would be at the right time.
Her mind drifted off to last night, at the same time the car drove into the hotel.
"We’re here, ma’am," George announced.
"Already?" Her eyes widened as she pulled out of her thoughts, and began looking around.
It looked way different than the last time she saw it. Probably because it had been dark that day.
During the day, it looked grand and opulent. But at night, it looked simply magical.
He drove behind, towards the exclusive parking lot, but was stopped by Martin.
Fay, wondering why they were being stopped, began to worry.
George rolled down his windows, and pushed his head out of it.
"Hey Martin, it’s me. I brought the boss’s wife to deliver something he requested."
"I’m so sorry," Martin quickly apologised, and moved out of the way. When Grant had come down to tell him to make sure to allow the boss’s wife in, he had thought it was his usual jokes. Turns out it wasn’t just media propaganda. The boss was actually married.
Fay stepped out, and was quickly greeted by Grant.
"You!" She said, a big smile flashing on her face.
"It’s so good to see you ma’am. Please come with me."
She bobbed her head, and followed behind him. "Good morning sir," she said to Martin, as she walked by him. But he was too stunned by her beauty to take note of her greeting.
"Wow!" He finally said, sniffing into the air as she disappeared out of sight.
"I know buddy, I know." George who had stepped beside nodded, with his nose sniffing into the air too.
"That was really fast o—" Grant was saying, when he stopped dead on his tracks.
"Why’d you—" Fay’s voice was filtered away as she raised her head, and saw none other than Celine Atticus.
