Chapter 289: Confrontation, Apology, & Family Tensions

Edwin Blake asked seriously, "You don’t believe me?"

"No."

"Fine, don’t believe me if you don’t want to. Anyway, I’ve said my piece. Your mother really had nothing against me. She used to like me a lot."

Edwin couldn’t help but sigh, "She used to be so obedient, not like now, always so hostile."

"If you don’t like it, then hurry up and move out. Stop hanging around our place."

Fatty said bluntly, "You better apologize to me right away. You saw my most private things, so you owe me an apology!"

"You stole from me and you want me to apologize to you? Is there any justice in that?"

Edwin pointed at the photo, "This belongs to my family. Taking it to your place is theft."

"No, it isn’t. That’s my mother. I have the right to bring her picture back home. Are you saying I could steal from my own mother?"

"Well, you should ask your mother that. If everyone kept movie star’s pictures at their homes, do you see the stars suing them?"

Fatty’s mind worked quickly, "That’s because they’re movie stars. My mom isn’t, we could sue you for infringing on her image rights."

Edwin laughed in anger, "Are you saying I’ve infringed on Ivy River’s image rights?"

"Yeah, isn’t it so? Anyway, Edwin Blake, I’m warning you, stop bothering my mom. My mom has me and Emmy, we don’t need you making things worse!"

Fatty said sincerely and then went downstairs.

Halfway down, he remembered something and came back to warn Edwin, "I’d suggest you hurry up and leave my house, you’re not welcome here."

Ivy River saw Fatty coming down angrily, and said annoyed, "Vincent, come in, I need to talk to you!"

Fatty walked into the kitchen with his head down, ready to admit his mistake, "Mommy, I know I was wrong. Go ahead, punish me."

"When did you go next door and take my photo back?"

"During those two days when the scum was moving. I saw them carrying your photo, so I took Emmy with me and went over."

Ivy River squinted, "Emmy went too?"

Fatty covered his mouth quickly, "No, Mom. She was just waiting outside for me. She didn’t go in. I did everything all by myself."

"Alright, I know you two are close. I won’t make it hard for your sister, I’ll ask you directly."

Fatty looked at Ivy River’s serious expression and nodded carefully.

Ivy River said directly, "Why did you hide the photo? Why didn’t you tell me that Edwin Blake was living next door? I thought we all knew together!"

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got!

So she was the one who had been kept in the dark!

Fatty whispered, "Mommy, I didn’t tell you because I was worried you’d get mad because of that scum. I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I won’t do it again. Next time I see any trace of him, I’ll tell you!"

"Vincent, I gave birth to you, right? How come you’re not that smart?"

"Huh?" Fatty was confused.

Ivy River said indignantly, "You see, so many perpetrators hide their weapons. Do criminals hide the murder weapon in their own homes?"

Fatty shook his head.

"Right? They don’t. Then why did you hide it at home? Wasn’t that a stupid move? Don’t boast about inheriting my intelligence. The more I think about it, the angrier I get."

Fatty softly tried to console Ivy River, "Mommy, don’t be mad. Next time I’ll tell you beforehand and we’ll commit the crime together."

"You still think there will be a next time?"

Ivy River was stunned.

Fatty then shouted loudly, "There won’t be a next time, Mom. If there is, I’ll use my brain more."

Ivy River was still very angry, "Maybe you’ve inherited from him, I always feel that sometimes what you do is not very smart. It really embarrasses me, kid."

"Mommy, you can insult me, but don’t use that scum to insult me, okay? Please, as your son."

Ivy River reluctantly nodded, "Next time, don’t hide the weapon at home, be good."

Fatty nodded and agreed, "Okay, Mom. I will listen."

But he thought to himself: This isn’t quite the same thing...

"Ivy River, is this how you usually educate the kids?"

Edwin Blake’s voice suddenly interrupted.

Ivy River turned around and saw Emmy and Alexander Hodges standing at the door, watching intently.

Edwin’s face was dark.

Ivy River said blandly, "What does it matter to you how I educate my kids? If it doesn’t concern you, don’t ask or meddle."

"Can’t you guide them in a more positive direction? Teaching them like this will affect their values. What will you do if they grow up with a twisted view?"

"If they grow up twisted, they’re still my children, not related to you in the slightest."

Ivy River’s sharp tongue successfully rendered Edwin speechless.

Fatty immediately chimed in, "Yeah, even if I grow up and do bad things, it has nothing to do with you. Who are you anyway? Hurry up and leave my house; you’re an eyesore."

"Yeah, what my brother said is right!"

Emmy suddenly turned into a little sycophant, clapping wholeheartedly.

Seeing Edwin’s murderous look, Alexander Hodges silently picked up Emmy, "Little princess, little aunt, let’s go watch cartoons. Don’t dawdle here. Don’t add fuel to the fire, or my big brother might hurt someone by mistake."

"By mistake? Laughable! Do you really think my mom is just jealous?"

Emmy declared confidently.

"Alright, alright. Then let’s watch TV. Uncle will watch cartoons with you. Look, this little bear is so cute..."

Alexander Hodges helplessly coaxed the child.

The kitchen was a battlefield, not a place for him and Emmy.

"Edwin Blake, leave now. Oh, and take Alexander Hodges with you."

Ivy River pointed to the door with one hand holding a kitchen knife.

Seeing her stance, Edwin was a bit scared, "Could you put that thing down first?"

Ivy River glanced at the knife in her hand, raised it, and said directly, "Are you going or not?"

"Wait, is this resolved?"

Edwin was persistent, even Alexander Hodges couldn’t help but advise, "Bro, my nephew is still angry. Maybe you should go home first?"

"Why don’t you shut up?"

Alexander Hodges turned around directly, "Emmy, this cartoon is really good. Let’s keep watching."

He thought it was better not to speak at all in this situation.

Fatty said fiercely, "Edwin Blake, I’ll give you three seconds to leave my house!"

Edwin frowned, stepped forward, and hoisted Fatty onto his shoulder, "Vincent, don’t forget, I am your father."

"My old man is dead to me."

The moment Fatty said this.

Ivy River covered her face, thinking these two were already in a crazy state, "If you two want to fight, go outside. Don’t mess up my kitchen."

Fatty punched and kicked Edwin.

Edwin glanced at him, carrying him directly out the door.

Father and son began their confrontation.

Alexander Hodges walked in smugly, "Sis-in-law, what’s for dinner tonight? Can I brazenly request an extra dish?"

"You can brazenly leave my house, thanks. I didn’t prepare dinner for you tonight."

Ivy River said blandly, causing Alexander Hodges to protest,

"Sis-in-law! I at least gave a greeting gift. Is one meal for two million too much? If it is, I’ll add to it! I have to have this meal today."

"Alright."

Alexander Hodges was stunned.
