Chapter 249: "Family Conversations and Chicken Legs"

Old Lady Blake still didn’t know about Madeline Woods’s family situation.

Feigning displeasure, she said to Fatty, "Why are you unhappy about someone visiting their grandfather? Do you also not like Grandma Zane visiting you? Do you dislike me too?"

Fatty shook his head and said, "Grandma Zane, I’m always very happy to see you, and I like you very much, but Ann was really unhappy just now, I could tell. I can read people’s expressions."

Emmy pouted and said, "Grandma Zane, you don’t know, brother cherishes Ann so much, he notices every little thing. We ignore him, hmmph."

Fatty sighed, "It’s true, didn’t you feel that Ann was very unhappy in the car just now?"

"No."

After saying this, Emmy took another big bite of the chicken leg, "Since you don’t want to eat it, the chicken leg is all mine."

Ivy River returned after making a phone call.

Fatty saw her furrowed brow and asked worriedly, "Mom, is Ann okay?"

Ivy held back a twinge in her heart and replied softly, "Ann is fine. You should hurry and eat, children don’t need to worry about so many things."

"Really?"

Ivy responded seriously, "Yes, I just called your godmother. She said Ann is doing well, you might have misunderstood earlier."

Fatty didn’t know the relationship between Ann and her grandfather’s family, but he could instinctively feel Ann’s discomfort.

That proved Ann’s unhappiness was noticeable to those who cared.

But Madeline took it lightly.

Thinking of Madeline’s attitude just now, Ivy got angry.

Fatty noticed Ivy’s mood and asked weakly, "Mom, did you have an argument with godmother just now?"

"No, of course not. Mommy just took a work call. Let’s eat, Grandma Zane is waiting for us. Fatty, are you eating or not?"

The latter half of Ivy’s sentence revealed her true nature.

Fatty suppressed his questions and immediately started eating, head down.

Old Lady Blake chuckled, "Slow down, slow down, Grandma Zane is waiting for you. Don’t rush, chew carefully."

"Grandma Zane, just let him eat. He only stays quiet while eating," Emmy said, taking off her gloves and patting her small tummy in satisfaction.

She was very happy.

Fatty pouted, "You really ate my chicken leg!"

"Of course, you didn’t want it, so I helped you finish it. You should thank me."

Fatty looked at Emmy’s cheeky face, very annoyed, "Emmy! You did that on purpose, knowing I love this place’s chicken legs!"

"I didn’t know, don’t accuse me. I’m a good person," Emmy said smugly.

Seeing this, Old Lady Blake handed her own chicken leg to Fatty, "No fighting, no fighting, eat Grandma Zane’s chicken leg."

"Grandma, don’t give it to him. I’ll order another one," Ivy insisted.

Old Lady Blake laughed and waved her hand, "I’m getting old, I should eat less greasy food, or my stomach won’t digest well. Let the children eat."

Ivy looked at her exasperatedly, "Oh, come on. I never heard you worry about digestion before. I heard you ate half a chicken by yourself last week. What was on your mind then?"

"How do you know that? I told them not to spread the word!" Old Lady Blake was shocked.

"There are no secrets in this world. Just remember to watch your digestion. After all, your body is your own. You know it well."

Listening to Ivy’s nagging, Old Lady Blake nodded constantly.

"Eat, Ivy, eat. Let’s not talk about unpleasant things while eating. Look, you’ve even lost weight recently. Eat more meat," she said, looking at Ivy’s bowl piled high with meat.

Feeling a warmth in her heart, Ivy pretended to be stern, "If I find out you’ve overeaten meat again without eating vegetables, I won’t bring Fatty and Emmy to play with you."

"No!" Old Lady Blake immediately objected.

After all, she loved eating meat!

Without it, she would truly break down.

While eating, Ivy said, "Good. Eat properly. Eating meat is fine, but don’t overeat. I control Fatty and Emmy’s intake too, afraid they won’t digest well."

"Kids should eat more meat. There’s lots of good protein. They need nutrients to grow," Old Lady Blake argued.

"Grandma, they’re not lacking nutrients. A little overeating will make Fatty overnourished and stunt his growth. He can’t just grow sideways, not upwards!"

Gazing at Fatty, Ivy continued, "Grandma, look at your grandson, how chubby he’s gotten!"

Old Lady Blake chuckled, "No problem. Chubby kids are easier to take care of. They’ll slim down when they grow up."

"Your filter is really scary," Ivy said, genuinely speechless.

She sped up eating, needing to drive and pick up Ann soon.

After the meal,

Ivy paid the bill, carrying packed food, "Grandma, should I take you home, or is a driver coming?"

"The driver’s coming. You take the kids home, don’t detour for me." Old Lady Blake made a call.

Ivy stayed, holding the kids’ hands, waiting.

"We’ll leave after you, it’s not a problem," Emmy said smartly, "Yeah, Grandma Zane. We definitely need to wait for you." She laughed softly.

Old Lady Blake looked affectionately at Emmy, "Such a good grandson, better than your dad."

Hearing ’Dad’,

both Fatty and Emmy pouted.

Fatty corrected, "Grandma Zane, please don’t mention that in front of me. It’s disturbing."

"Yeah, Grandma Zane, we don’t have a dad, only a mom!" Emmy said defiantly.

Ivy glanced at them, not interfering.

Old Lady Blake, understanding their resistance to Edwin Blake, changed the topic, "Fine. What do you want to eat next time? Grandma Zane will take you."

"Up to you. Next time we’ll just visit you at the manor, Grandma," Ivy smiled, "They’re young, don’t take it to heart."

Old Lady Blake laughed heartily, "Why would I get angry? I’m not mad. Edwin Blake deserves it for treating you poorly. I’d even kick him out."

Right then,

Edwin Blake’s voice came, "Grandma, please don’t badmouth me when I’m not here."

Uh-oh.

Old Lady Blake awkwardly turned, "Why are you here suddenly?"

"Didn’t you call me to come?"

"Oh right, I thought you’d send Harry Ross," Old Lady Blake said assertively, without any embarrassment, "But I wasn’t wrong, you are a scumbag. Why not kick you out?"

Edwin lowered his head, "Fine. Can I take you home now?"

Old Lady Blake huffed, then turned to smile at Ivy, "Ivy, I’ll leave now. Drive safely with the kids."

"Okay," Ivy responded gently.

Edwin asked Ivy, "Need me to take you home?"
