Chapter 248: After modification: Chapter 247
"What?!"
Old Lady Blake’s eyes were full of surprise, "When did she get pregnant? When did this happen, Ivy? You really know how to pull off big things secretly."
"No, I was just assuming."
Edwin Blake immediately doused Old Lady Blake’s enthusiasm with cold water, "Oh, stop with those big sighs. Don’t tell me Ivy’s child will have inheritance rights, and then everything I have will be hers!"
Edwin shook his head helplessly, "Alright, you can give your stuff to whoever you want."
"If one day you can tell me that Ivy is pregnant, even with a second child, I’ll be over the moon."
Old Lady Blake was beautifully fantasizing about the future.
Edwin shook his head helplessly and supported her to go out, "Come on, Grandma, go take a nap. You can dream about anything."
...
Four-thirty in the afternoon.
Edwin Blake had already arrived at the kindergarten with Old Lady Blake.
"Edwin Blake, what do you think my precious grandkids will feel when they see me later? Will they be thrilled?"
Old Lady Blake couldn’t help but mumble in his ear.
Edwin responded helplessly, "Grandma, you’ve said this more than ten times already. Can you talk about something else? I really don’t want to hear it anymore."
"Oh, I’m just excited. Since Ivy trusted me with this important task, I absolutely can’t mess it up!"
Edwin rubbed his forehead, "Grandma, I know you’re very nervous right now. But sometimes, there’s no need to be especially nervous. They come out at five-thirty, and we’ve arrived an hour early. We’ve already shown how much we value them!"
"If it weren’t for you dilly-dallying at home, we could have arrived by four o’clock!"
Old Lady Blake said this with a displeased look at Edwin.
Edwin really had no words. It’s his grandma, what can he do?
He spoke helplessly, "Grandma, please don’t be in such a hurry. I’m going to get out and attend a meeting now. I’ll be back soon."
He really couldn’t stay any longer.
His ears were likely to grow calluses soon.
Finally, Fatty and Emmy were let out of school.
Old Lady Blake had been standing at the gate twenty minutes early to greet them, and when she saw the two little ones appear.
She immediately exclaimed excitedly, "Emmy, Fatty!"
The two little ones saw Grandma Zane, and their eyes were full of surprise, "Grandma Zane!"
Receiving a warm response from the two little ones, Old Lady Blake was even happier.
Teacher Eulalie had never seen Old Lady Blake before. She gently spoke, "Mother River told me today that her grandma would be picking up the children, but I think it would be better if you gave her a call, so I can feel at ease handing over the children to you."
"Understood, understood."
Old Lady Blake immediately dialed Ivy’s number. After verifying, she cheerfully held the hands of the two little ones.
Emmy sweetly asked, "Grandma Zane, why are you picking us up from school today?"
"Aren’t you happy that Grandma Zane came to pick you up?"
"No, it’s just a surprise!" Emmy corrected in her childish voice.
Fatty was also very happy but suddenly saw an unexpected guest.
His expression immediately turned cold, "Grandma Zane, don’t tell me you brought him."
Old Lady Blake turned around to look. Edwin had come over at some point.
She felt embarrassed for a moment and quickly explained, "Just think of him as the driver, okay? Grandma Zane didn’t have a driver today, so I had to let him fill in."
Fatty immediately refused, "I can call my uncle. We don’t want to ride in the car he drives."
Edwin became completely angry upon hearing this, "If you don’t want to ride, then walk home! If you’re so capable, don’t take my car!"
"Do you really think we care about riding in your car?" Fatty sneered.
Old Lady Blake saw this, "Fatty, he’s just the driver. Let’s not stoop to his level, be good."
After speaking, she turned and glared at Edwin.
Edwin ignored her, "If you’re so capable, then don’t ride the car home."
"If I ride in your car home, I’ll write the name ’River’ backwards today!" Fatty said furiously.
Emmy chimed in, following her brother’s lead, "Don’t worry! We won’t be getting in your car!"
Old Lady Blake saw this, "Edwin, perhaps you shouldn’t speak any further. Call Harry and ask him to come and pick us up soon."
Edwin replied coldly, "Today I’m the one driving. If you don’t want to ride, then don’t go home."
"Edwin Blake, are you not going to listen to me?"
Edwin snorted coldly and walked towards the car, "I’ll give you two time to think. If you’ve made up your mind, you can get in the car."
Upon hearing this, Fatty gave him a big eye-roll.
Old Lady Blake tried to persuade the two little ones.
The result.
Emmy happily shouted, "Godmother, can you take us and Grandma Zane home?"
Madeline Woods had just parked and turned off the ignition when she saw this scene.
"Sure, why didn’t your mommy come to pick you up today?"
Emmy explained in her childish voice, "Grandma Zane came to pick us up today, but the driver is someone we dislike, so we’re asking godmother for a favor."
Fatty pointed to the car parked in the distance, "He came to pick us up."
Madeline looked at it and instantly understood the situation.
She walked forward and rubbed the heads of the two kids, then spoke to Old Lady Blake, "I’ll take you home later. Right now, I need to pick up Ann."
Old Lady Blake smiled, "Thank you. It’s really inconvenient."
"Don’t mention it. Ivy has helped me a lot too—this is a small favor."
Madeline waved her hand and went to pick up Ann.
She was actually quite unhappy. Knowing that Fatty and Emmy disliked Edwin Blake, yet he was asked to pick them up.
But she had no right to say anything about this. The only thing she could do was safely deliver the kids to Ivy River.
After picking up Ann, Madeline drove away with the two little ones and Old Lady Blake.
As they passed Edwin Blake.
Fatty deliberately rolled down the window and gave him a provocative smile.
Old Lady Blake immediately said, "Head home on your own. We’re going to eat, and you don’t need to follow."
Edwin Blake: "..."
Really his dear grandma, use and discard him, unbelievable!
Seeing the car drive farther away, he gritted his teeth and started his car to leave.
At the restaurant entrance.
Madeline parked the car, "Grandma, you take them in to eat. I’ll skip it for today."
"Come on, get down and have a bite."
Old Lady Blake kindly invited.
Madeline waved her hand to decline, "Not today, Grandma. I need to take Ann to see her grandpa."
Upon hearing the word "grandpa."
Ann instinctively flinched, her little face suddenly fell.
Fatty noticed this and frowned slightly, "Godmother, why not come eat with us instead?"
Madeline still refused, "No need, let’s gather another day."
Old Lady Blake saw she couldn’t convince Madeline and said helplessly, "Alright then, you can dine with Ivy some other day, and I’ll cover the expenses—as a thank you for bringing me here and covering the gas."
"Great!"
Madeline didn’t hold back, and after they got out of the car and went in, she drove away.
Inside the restaurant.
Ivy River looked at the dishes and noticed Fatty’s weary expression, softly asking, "What’s wrong, why are you so unhappy?"
She knew her son very well.
When it came to eating, he was usually enthusiastic, and today’s restaurant was also his favorite.
But this time, he was completely different.
Emmy was beside him, happily chewing on meat, "Does brother have a bad appetite? Then leave that big drumstick to me, you don’t need to eat it!"
Fatty glared at Emmy and said to Ivy, "Mommy, Godmother took Ann to her grandpa’s place... She seemed really unhappy."
Upon hearing that, Ivy was stunned. She immediately took out her phone and called Madeline.
