Chapter 239: Chapter 238 Ivy River Won’t Let Me Drink Alcohol

"Edwin Blake, I’ve told you before to think about who you’ve offended. You’ve never really considered it, but this chronic poison, if taken long-term, will kill you."

Ivy River frowned deeply.

Edwin Blake was lost in thought and didn’t speak.

Ivy didn’t want to ask anymore and continued, "As things stand, this toxin has already penetrated 80%. In less than half a year, if not treated, it could reach 100%, at which point you could be facing death or becoming a vegetable."

She paused, "Of course, there’s also a better outcome: paralysis... But even close brothers keep detailed accounts, you’ll have to pay for the medical expenses."

Although she really didn’t want to deal with this scumbag, Edwin Blake.

However, because of the children, she was still willing to treat him.

After all, the children are already dealing with divorced parents; having one dead would be almost no different from the current situation. But it’s still better if no one dies.

However, Edwin Blake was indeed in a pitiful state.

From a medical perspective, the person responsible must truly hate him. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have taken such drastic measures.

Once the effects of the poison hit, Edwin Blake would endure excruciating pain.

Edwin nodded in agreement, "Alright, you name your price."

Ivy thought for a moment, "The cost isn’t an issue, but if you want me to treat you, you need to sign a confidentiality agreement. If I end up killing you, you can’t let your mom come after me."

Edwin: "..."

He was silent for a while, then said coldly, "Aren’t you confident?"

"When you go into surgery, you sign a liability waiver. I’m not a miracle worker who can guarantee a cure," Ivy continued. "If you don’t want to sign, then find another doctor. I can’t take your case."

She was also afraid that if Edwin died under her care, she would become the Blake family’s scapegoat.

Though his grandmother liked her now, things could change if his only grandson died under her care.

Edwin thought for a moment and asked, "How confident are you? How many solutions can you provide now?"

Ivy corrected him, "You mean treatment plans, not solutions. If you want me to ’solve’ you, I can send you to the afterlife right now."

"Then outline them for me. Are there any side effects? How long will it take to heal? Is there any risk to my life during treatment?"

A barrage of questions left Ivy unsure of which to answer first.

She rolled her eyes, "The timeline is not certain, but you’ll need to set aside time. Let’s start with three days. After that, we’ll decide. It might take three days or three years. Be mentally prepared."

Edwin frowned and nodded, "That long?"

"Of course, you do have another option—find another doctor, don’t get treated by me."

Ivy was eager for Edwin to find another doctor.

Edwin shook his head, "What’s the cost of treatment? I’ll transfer the money now. I don’t want to go through this again and again."

"You can start by paying the consultation fee, which is the basic treatment cost. For Isla’s condition, the Lingzhi needed later was bought separately. For your case too, either you buy the herbs or I buy them and you pay. I’m not responsible for the medication."

Ivy said, smiling.

Edwin frowned, "How much?"

Ivy smiled cunningly, "President Blake, are you asking about the basic consultation fee? It’s ten billion US dollars."

Edwin nodded and immediately picked up his phone to call Harry Ross.

"The money will be in your account soon. Make sure I receive the best treatment."

As soon as he finished speaking.

Ivy’s phone chimed with a message. She checked it and saw the money had been transferred.

Reluctantly, she said, "Alright, come back in two days for treatment. You can leave now."

Edwin suddenly smiled, "Why not treat me today?"

"Because there are many patients waiting outside. I only took half an hour off."

Ivy stood up and walked to the door, opening it, "President Blake, please?"

Edwin got up and walked slowly towards the door.

Ivy, growing impatient, grabbed his arm and pushed him towards the door, "I’m off tomorrow, so come back the day after. Two days won’t kill you. I’ll send the prescription to Harry later, make sure to take it."

From dragging Edwin in, to pushing him out.

It was all done in one go.

As Edwin stood at the door of the consultation room, looking at the closed door, he still hadn’t processed it.

Alexander Hodges quickly approached, "Hey, brother, what did sister-in-law say? Why did you stay in there so long?"

Seeing Edwin not respond,

He continued asking, "How did it go? Did she treat you or did your relationship get a boost?"

Edwin snapped out of it, glanced at him, and walked towards the elevator.

Alexander followed behind, chattering, "Brother, I saw sister-in-law kicking you out, looking all angry. Did something happen? Tell me."

Edwin, his expression cold, "Alexander Hodges, say one more word and I’ll throw you out right now."

He immediately fell silent.

And quietly followed Edwin to the parking garage.

In the car.

Edwin directly called Harry Ross, "Book a comprehensive body checkup for me tomorrow. I want a detailed one."

Harry was momentarily stunned but quickly said, "Madam already sent me the message and booked you a checkup at Medical University. You’ll need to fast in the morning and come in."

Edwin responded coldly, "Okay, send me the details later."

After hanging up,

Edwin had a faint smile on his lips. When he turned and saw Alexander’s gossipy expression, he coldly scolded, "What do you want?"

Alexander grinned mischievously, "Brother, did you know, sister-in-law has you wrapped around her finger. She arranged a checkup for you and you’re overjoyed."

Edwin’s expression darkened, "Are you idle?"

Alexander, feeling somewhat wronged, "I’ve been with you all day. I even had cafeteria lunch and drove in the afternoon. I even dealt with Madeline Woods’ friend! And now you’re ready to ditch me..."

He stopped mid-sentence as he saw Edwin’s dark face and didn’t dare to continue.

After glaring for a while, Edwin said coldly, "Tell Lewis Chadwick, my test results are only for Ivy River. No other doctors are to know."

"Got it," Alexander agreed, "No problem. Let’s find big brother tonight? It’s been a while since we’ve seen him. Let’s have a drink."

"Mm, but first, take me back to the office for a meeting."

As the car stopped,

Edwin said softly, "I won’t be drinking tonight. Ivy River says no smoking or drinking for me. I’m planning to quit."

Alexander was stunned in place.

His expression changed, and he instinctively reached out to feel Edwin’s forehead, "Are you sick?"

Edwin slapped his hand away, "No. Ivy River said if I smoke or drink, I might die sooner, which is bad for my condition."

"You’re sick?" Alexander asked, genuinely concerned.

Edwin glanced at him but said nothing and got out of the car.

Alexander yelled after him, "Now I feel like I’m the one who’s sick! You’re not sick, but I am. Damn, I’ve just been force-fed so much dog food. When sister-in-law finds out, she’ll kill you!"
