Chapter 203: Chapter 202: The Dignity of Men

Charlotte Yeaton’s face instantly turned as red as an apple.

Gale Wiles also froze, unable to react for a long time.

"Our family has a great atmosphere, and if you marry into our family, there won’t be any issues with a bratty sister-in-law. On the contrary, I can even become your best friend. My brother is single and very caring. Think about it?"

Ivy River was still enthusiastically advertising her brother.

Gale Wiles snapped back to reality and gave Ivy River a gentle push. "You can eat carelessly, but you can’t speak carelessly. This kind of talk shouldn’t be taken lightly. Don’t meddle in matchmaking."

"You two should at least try getting along. Love at first sight only happens in novels. Besides, both of you are from wealthy families, so a flash marriage is even less likely. The more you interact, who knows, sparks might fly."

Ivy River said seriously.

"That’s impossible. Miss Yeaton and I can only be friends," Jonah Wiles said without even thinking.

Hearing this, Charlotte Yeaton felt as if a knife had stabbed her heart.

She felt very uncomfortable.

She was a fine lady, and yet, even before anything began, he was already dismissing her.

It was truly maddening.

She then added, "Don’t worry, President Wiles. We can only be friends, or business partners at most. If I offend you in any way, I hope you can forgive me."

Gale Wiles could sense her unhappiness and quickly said, "Charlotte Yeaton, those weren’t my true thoughts just now. Don’t take it to heart."

"Stop, no need to explain so much."

Feeling awkward, Gale Wiles said, "Alright, you’re angry now, so nothing I say will matter. It was Ivy speaking too carelessly earlier, and I just reacted without thinking."

Hearing herself being blamed, Ivy River couldn’t continue just watching.

She hurriedly said, "Don’t blame everything on me. I’m not taking the fall for this. Your argument has nothing to do with me!"

Gale Wiles gritted his teeth, glaring at her. "If it wasn’t for you, would it be this awkward? Kids shouldn’t interrupt when adults are talking."

Ivy River calmly said, "Sometimes, onlookers see more clearly. You both should really consider my suggestion. Charlotte Yeaton would make an excellent sister-in-law."

Charlotte Yeaton’s voice was indifferent, with no emotion. "No need. President Wiles and I are not suitable for each other."

As they were talking.

The food that Ivy River ordered arrived.

She placed everything on the table and said to Charlotte Yeaton, "Come on, eat up. Don’t be shy. You haven’t eaten yet with all that’s happened, right? I ordered a lot, so you don’t need to eat their leftovers."

Most people at the banquet had already eaten.

Though there was some new food left, it wasn’t as fresh as the newly cooked meal.

She had done so much for herself today, so repaying her with a meal was appropriate.

Charlotte Yeaton smiled. "Good, I’m a bit hungry."

Ivy River looked at Charlotte Yeaton like she was family. "Then eat more. My brother is too fat; he doesn’t deserve our food."

"Alright." Charlotte Yeaton began eating.

Gale Wiles glanced unhappily but didn’t say anything and started eating quietly.

During the meal, the three of them didn’t say a word.

Ivy River was the first to finish eating and suddenly remembered her children.

"You two keep eating and bonding. I need to go find Fatty and Emmy."

Gale Wiles was speechless.

He frowned and said, "Ivy River, you call yourself a mother? Have you checked the time? Dad must have taken Fatty and Emmy out through the back door by now."

"Huh?"

Gale Wiles rolled his eyes. "They’re upstairs, next to your room. Dad should be there too."

"Okay, I’ll go now. Charlotte, you and my brother take your time eating and don’t rush. Make sure you eat your fill."

Charlotte Yeaton nodded. "Alright, go find your kids. We can talk later."

Gale Wiles hastily added, "Wait for me. I want to see the kids too..."

"You finish eating and come up later. I need to check if Fatty is up to mischief. See you."

Ivy River didn’t wait and went straight to the room upstairs.

She knew he found the situation awkward, but Ivy River didn’t care. She wanted to give them some alone time, hoping for a fling or something!

Hehe!

Charlotte Yeaton and Gale Wiles were left staring at each other awkwardly. They exchanged a sheepish smile, and then both silently focused on their meal.

...

Fatty was having an intense hacker competition with Alexander Hodges in the room.

Before starting, he specifically checked Ivy River’s location and found she was having dinner downstairs with her brother.

Feeling assured, he began to compete.

Just when he was fully engaged, footsteps echoed in the hallway.

Ivy River was wearing low heels today, which were silent on the carpet, but Emmy and Fatty had sharp ears.

Emmy ran to Fatty and snatched off his headphones. "Brother, brother, Mom is back! Hurry, hurry!"

As she finished speaking.

The door handle rattled.

Unable to open it, Ivy River knocked on the door. "Open up! What are you doing inside with the door locked?"

Fatty gave Emmy a signal and glanced at the computer screen.

Gritting his teeth, he deleted the traces and switched to the stock market interface.

Emmy opened the door and leapt into Ivy River’s arms. "Mom, you’re finally back! I missed you so much."

Ivy River hugged her and then looked at Fatty, who was still wearing headphones. She pulled them off, "What are you doing?"

Fatty looked up and met her suspicious gaze.

He immediately put on a flattering smile, "Mommy~ My dearest mommy, you’re finally back~~ You have no idea how much I missed you, and so did Emmy."

Emmy whispered, "Brother, you’re so fake. You didn’t say you missed Mom when you were playing games!"

Ivy River looked at the computer, feeling infuriated. "Vincent River, what did I tell you? No stock trading! You’re only four years old; you can’t touch this stuff!"

"Mom, I made profits with two stocks today, all gains and no losses. What does that tell you? It means I have great insight and investment skills!"

Fatty excitedly switched to his investment interface.

Ivy River glanced at the red numbers. "This has nothing to do with you making a profit. This isn’t something for your age. Your uncle also needs a scolding. You’re all looking for trouble!"

"Mom, you shouldn’t think that way. Including the time in your womb, I’m already five years old. I absorbed your excellent genes, making me a genius baby..."

Ivy River interrupted, "Stop being narcissistic. What’s the use of being five years old with stocks? You absorbed nutrients in my womb, which is why you weighed ten pounds at birth, and your sister only five!"

That topic made her angry!

Frustrated, she shut Fatty’s laptop and commanded, "Go to sleep. Tomorrow you’ll accompany your grandpa. We’re going home on Tuesday."

Fatty whispered a rebuttal, "That’s because you ate a lot. If you didn’t supply the nutrients, how would I get so fat? I didn’t mind you made me this fat, but now you’re complaining, Mom."

"What!"

Ivy River, seething, put Emmy down and smacked Fatty on his behind.

Fatty covered his rear and ran around the room. "It’s my male dignity; you can’t hit it!"
