Adrian Desmond disliked her last sentence. "Whether she loves me or hates me," he said coldly, "I don’t care now!"

"Sixth Master..." Selena Robertson watched Adrian Desmond walk away, but she still hadn’t managed to persuade him to release Sienna Johnson.

Melanie looked at Sienna, sighed, and said, "I’ll go talk to Sixth Brother and ask him to get a neurologist."

Watching her meddlesome cousin leave, Bella stomped her foot and chased after her.

Selena’s eyes were swollen like walnuts from crying, tears still streaming down her face. If this were before, Sienna would have teased her for crying so much, but the current Sienna just stared blankly, unresponsive to the world.

Just then, Melanie Carpenter knocked on the study door and entered. The moment she opened it, the thick smoke in the room made her choke and cough.

Walter Klein went to turn on the indoor ventilation and then opened the windows. As a large gust of sea breeze blew in, the smoke in the study quickly dissipated.

Adrian Desmond glanced at Melanie Carpenter and knew why she had come. He remained seated, neither moving nor looking at her.

Once Melanie managed to stop coughing, she walked further in. Adrian also appeared unwell.

Walter Klein pulled Bella Ford out of the study, leaving Adrian and Melanie alone. Melanie sat down in front of Adrian, studying him for a moment.

"If you really like her, why treat her like this?" she sighed.

"When people do wrong, they must be punished. Otherwise, she’ll make an even bigger mistake next time," he stated, his voice icy.

Adrian’s expression was weary, his eyes bloodshot. For the past three days, he had barely eaten, spending most of his time in the study.

"...I just went to see Mai. She’s not in a good state. She seems to have been badly frightened; she’s just staring blankly. Dr. Hyder suspects Mai might have mental problems and suggests getting a psychiatrist to examine her. Should I have someone brought here?"

The people on the island were under Adrian’s command; Melanie couldn’t order them. She had no choice but to seek Adrian’s help. Moreover, the island was quite secluded, and Adrian usually didn’t allow unauthorized people to come ashore.
