Chapter 954: Chapter 0954: Cousin Arrives

Outside the door, the innkeeper wiped the cold sweat off his forehead as he anxiously waited with a large crowd that had come to see what the fuss was about.

Just then, there was a loud bang from the room’s door.

A group of people tumbled out, all crashing to the floor, causing the door to break into pieces.

It felt as if they had been swept out by a fierce wind.

Long Fei’s room was on the second floor, luckily, there was a wall outside to stop them.

The group hit the wall so hard that several bones in their bodies broke; it took them a long while to get up.

Zhang Wukui’s cigarette was broken in half, and he sat on the sofa dumbfounded, staring at Long Fei, completely shocked by what had just happened.

Damn, it was like encountering Superman.

Just moments ago, seven or eight brothers charged up together, but before they could even touch him, they all flew out.

"Brother Wu, do you still want your money?"

While sipping his tea, Long Fei looked at Zhang Wukui with a light smile.

Zhang Wukui was jolted by the burning cigarette butt in his hand, and he quickly shook his head and said, "Brother, forget about the money. I didn’t recognize Mount Tai, I’ll leave right away, right away."

He stood up and made a beeline for the door.

In his hurry, he tripped at the entrance and fell out.

The underlings outside helped each other to their feet, looking at him full of panic and said, "Brother Wu, are we still going through with it?"

"To hell with it, let’s get out of here."

Zhang Wukui, like a man who had seen a ghost, pushed through the crowd and hurriedly led his underlings to make a quick escape.

The crowd outside was left staring dumbfounded. Some small-time hoodlums and thugs who had thought about coming over to cause trouble saw Zhang Wukui leaving.

Without saying another word, they turned and ran.

For a while, not a soul dared to enter the room.

Wang Xiaoya sat down, casually saying to Long Fei, "What was the point of wasting words with those thugs? You should have just scared them away as soon as they came in. What a waste of time."

Long Fei sipped his tea and chuckled, "Just a bit of boredom. It was fun to tease someone, to kill a bit of time!"

Wang Xiaoya and Liu Ruyan were both exasperated, rolling their eyes at him.

They were worried sick, but he was having the time of his life.

Liu Ruyan said bashfully, "Brother Long, Sister Little Ya, I’m sorry for delaying you. If you have other things to do, please don’t mind me. You can go ahead. I can take my time searching by myself. I’m strong now anyway, and ordinary people won’t be able to handle me."

Wang Xiaoya comforted her by holding her hand, "Nonsense, since your Brother Long and I are here, we won’t leave until we find news of your father. How can we leave with peace of mind?"

Long Fei looked at her and said, "Sister Little Ya is right. Take one thing at a time, no rush. I reckon, we’ll have news about your situation by the afternoon. Such a small town can’t keep secrets hidden."

Liu Ruyan nodded and sat down on the sofa, waiting patiently.

The commotion with Zhang Wukui had been so intense that no one dared to enter for over an hour.

The landlord eagerly came in, asking if they wanted lunch.

Wang Xiaoya ordered three servings of cold noodles and rou jia mo, snacks whose fame in Guanzhong was not less than that of lamb pao mo.

Liu Ruyan had no appetite and only ate a bowl of cold noodles.

Thinking of Mother Liuu’s cold noodles, Long Fei asked curiously, "Ruyan, is your mother from Guanzhong?"

"Yes!"

Liu Ruyan nodded.

Long Fei inquired further, "Which part of Guanzhong?"

Liu Ruyan shook her head and said, "I don’t know, she never told me. I think my father got involved with her because of antiques trafficking."

"Is that so?"

Long Fei’s mind turned, and he wondered whether Mother Liuu could also be from Dragon-Headed Town.

Father Liuu could come here so casually with someone. That must mean the person is trustworthy, perhaps related to Mother Liuu.

As they were eating, a commotion erupted outside.

Long Fei opened the door to see the innkeeper blocking a young man.

The young man wasn’t very old, about the same as Long Fei and his companions. His skin was dark, his muscles well-built, wearing the white short jacket typical of Northern Shaanxi, paired with cloth shoes and black trousers.

A white headscarf adorned his head, and he was holding a whip in his hand.

The innkeeper quickly apologized to Long Fei, "My apologies, guest, for startling you. I’ll get this shepherd out of here right away. This kid must be blind not to see what kind of place this is."

The young man protested unhappily, "Hey, how can you talk like that? I may be a shepherd, but I’m not blind!"

The innkeeper cursed angrily, "Are you looking for a beating, kid? You dare to strut around in here?"

Long Fei stopped him and turned to the young man, asking, "Who are you looking for?"

The young man eyed him and inquired, "Are you the one who posted that message?"

"Yes, yes!"

Long Fei detected something in his demeanor, as if he knew something.

The young man wiped his sweat and hurriedly said, "Oh, I finally found you. I know who that person is, I’ll take you to him."

The innkeeper said incredulously, "Come on, are you spouting nonsense, kid? Tempted by that million, you’re trying to con us for the money?"

The young man asserted seriously, "A million? I don’t want the money. What I’m saying is true, that man is my uncle, and he’s lying in my house right now!"

Liuu Ruyan and Wang Xiaoya, who were inside, heard their conversation and rushed out anxiously.

Liuu Ruyan, with tears welled up in her eyes, asked hurriedly, "What are you saying? My father is your uncle?"

The young man replied, "Yes, when I was a child, my father told me to call him that. After my father passed away, I’ve been taking care of him all this time."

He scrutinized Liuu Ruyan up and down, touched his head in thought, and said, "If you say my uncle is your dad, then are you my cousin?"

In her anxiety, Liuu Ruyan emotionally clung to Long Fei’s arm and exclaimed, "Brother Long, did you hear that? My dad is still alive, my dad is still alive!"

Her emotions were in disarray, and her words were incoherent.

Long Fei looked at the young man with a smile and said, "Yes, she is your cousin. Let’s go now, to your house."

"Alright, alright!"

The young man was overjoyed and said to Liuu Ruyan excitedly, "Oh my, it’s been over a dozen years, and we’ve finally waited for you to come. This is great, just great."

Long Fei went back inside to pack up some things, ready to leave with Liuu Ruyan and Wang Xiaoya.

The young man pointed at the cold noodles and the pork-stuffed buns inside, "You don’t want those anymore?"

Long Fei laughed and said, "We don’t, finding the person is more important."

The young man scratched his pants and said sheepishly, "Then give them to me. I’ve been on the road all morning and haven’t eaten yet."

"Then let’s eat before we go!"

Long Fei and Wang Xiaoya exchanged smiles. They had found the person, a little more time wouldn’t matter.

He asked the innkeeper to buy another bowl of lamb stew and bread from downstairs.

The young man had a big appetite. He picked up the bowl and squatted on the ground to eat.

Liuu Ruyan and Wang Xiaoya frowned at the sight. It was clear that these years had not been easy for him.

The innkeeper patted the young man on the shoulder happily, "Eat slowly, you’ve met your benefactor. If you can really find the person, you’ll be a millionaire."

The young man chuckled, "I don’t want the money. They are my relatives; how could I accept money from them?"

Liuu Ruyan, with reddened eyes, almost in tears, asked, "If my dad is still alive, why hasn’t he come to see us all these years?"

The young man paused, biting into his flatbread, "Your father had his difficulties. You’ll understand when you see him."

He ate noisily, quickly finishing off both the lamb stew and cold noodles.

Long Fei looked at the young man’s body, feeling that something was off. There was a familiarity about him that he couldn’t quite place.
