Wang Xiaoya listened with growing astonishment, feeling like it was all straight out of a detective story.

When she heard that Liu Kai had installed a spy camera in the bathroom, she suddenly realized why Long Fei had forbidden her from using the fifth-floor restroom.

Long Fei was sweating profusely, he went to pour her a glass of water and left her alone for the moment.

The sound of police sirens blared from outside, and a group of police officers pushed the door open and entered.

Long Fei greeted them and led them into the security room, summoning Wang Cheng over.

The security team, both day and night shifts, had six people each.

The bunch of single dogs let out a collective howl, while Steel Hoop and Yang Huo got familiar with their work.

Working the night shift didn’t mean doing nothing.

The weather by the sea was unpredictable, and though it had been fine when Long Fei and Wang Xiaoya left, it started pouring rain not long after they got on their way.

Neither of them had brought rain gear, and by this time, the shops on the street were closed, leaving them with nowhere to take shelter.

Long Fei stopped and used his canvas bag to cover Wang Xiaoya for a while, extending his hand to hail a taxi.

But to his dismay, not a single one was in sight. When one finally showed up, it already had passengers inside.

Seeing Wang Xiaoya getting soaked, Long Fei glanced around and, with a heavy heart, pulled her toward a nearby hotel.

He parked the bike at the entrance, wiped the rain from Wang Xiaoya’s face, and said with a wry smile, "No choice, we’ll have to make do here for the night!"

If she didn’t mind, Long Fei didn’t fuss either, thinking that later on, upon going up, he would just sleep on the floor.

The hotel’s environment was nice. Although not five-star, it was newly refurbished and looked clean.

The receptionist checked them in and handed over the room card.

Long Fei led Wang Xiaoya upstairs.

The female receptionist watched Long Fei and chuckled softly, "You’re quite the actor. Don’t thank me, big sis – this is as far as I can help you!"
