The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 567 - 566
Chapter 567: 566
The organization called Sixth Group is almost certainly a place he’s going to visit, but before that, he must do his best to figure out the true structure and strength of the organization. This involved his future safety and quality of life; if he were to be betrayed by the organization again, it would be a miserable situation. He had already been betrayed twice; if he didn’t wise up, he might as well strangle himself.
Ye Tian couldn’t help but sigh to himself. In the end, he was still vulnerable and alone. You can’t expect others to fight you one-on-one in a real battle. There are plenty of shameless people in this world who would rather kill you than just wound you. If they can take you down with one stroke, they definitely won’t waste a second. Thinking back to the encounter with the Twelve Earthly Branches, Ye Tian felt a wave of emotion. Ah, people these days, their quality really is plummeting!
Finally, Ye Tian poked out his cute yet sexy head.
All clear.
His surroundings were engulfed in darkness, but Ye Tian’s eyes could perceive things hidden in the shadows. However, this ability didn’t seem particularly useful. He turned on the flashlight, but it wasn’t very effective, so he switched it off. Asking Zhang Ling’er for the flashlight was just to justify safely descending the mountain in the dark; he hadn’t really counted on it being much help.
The green bird was chattering noisily on a branch, irritating Ye Tian, who looked up and snapped, "Shut up!" The Little Green Bird obediently closed its beak and landed on Ye Tian’s shoulder instead of staying on the branch, staring intently ahead. Ye Tian also lifted his head to look forward.
A huge black hole lay ahead.
A black hole.
The killing aura that hit him in the face came from inside this cave, and it showed no signs of weakening. Ye Tian slapped his own cheeks to stay alert and then took a couple of steps forward.
The underbrush was thick beneath his feet, and God knows if snakes were lurking around. If he were bitten by something like a Silver Ring Five-step Cobra, that would be a massive loss.
"Little guy, if I end up lying here, you must avenge me, you hear me? Even if you can’t get revenge, at least run away and send word to my family. At the very least, recover my body."
The chubby green bird on his shoulder cocked its head and glanced at him, and stopped chattering, seemingly agreeing. This made Ye Tian curse even more furiously, "You’re really eager for it! So eager for my death! You heartless thing!"
The Little Green Bird ignored him, leaving Ye Tian rather annoyed and with no choice but to head towards the black hole in front of him.
The dense undergrowth suggested that few people ventured here; the grass had grown higher than the knees. Ye Tian then realized that there weren’t many people on this mountain to begin with, and even fewer who would come to this spot.
There were no accumulated leaves on the ground here, so it wasn’t soggy with standing water; his feet could still touch the ground, not giving that mushy feeling. The ground felt more solid. Ye Tian’s right hand produced an inch-long Gang Qi, just in case. Feeling the warmth, the Little Green Bird intuitively hopped from Ye Tian’s left shoulder to perch on his right.
You sure are sharp.
Though Ye Tian seemed to walk casually on the surface, in reality, his heart was in his throat with each step, carefully analyzing and predicting the surroundings. Just the few dozen steps to the cave entrance had made Ye Tian feel a sense of powerlessness; if this was the case at just the entrance, what would he do if there were more troublesome things inside? Was he supposed to just walk in and die?
Seeing Ye Tian stop, the green bird on his shoulder flapped its wings and flew straight in. Ye Tian felt slighted and followed, striding into the cave. But as soon as he stepped inside, he instantly regretted it. A chill from the ground immediately crept up through his feet into his body, and if not for the warming Spiritual Power inside him blocking it midway, he feared his whole body would have frozen stiff.
Inside his body, the interplay of cold and heat settled at his thighs, tormenting him with their alternating extremes. The previously warm Spiritual Power was no longer just warm but started to feel scorching, gradually shifting from warmth to a fiercer heat.
The dual sensations of ice and fire – Ye Tian only ever heard of it in the context of men and women sharing intimacy; who’d have thought it would happen to his own body!
Ye Tian, who once thought he’d be content if he could experience "the joys of the flesh" even once in his life, now dared not entertain a single extravagant thought. At this rate, who knows what suffering he might endure shortly.
Soon enough, Little Green Bird circled back. Seeing the little guy, Ye Tian blamed himself, thinking, "What am I doing competing with a bird?"
Oddly enough, as soon as the green bird landed on Ye Tian’s shoulder, the chill beneath his thighs vanished, and the heat flowed swiftly downward, quickly warming his entire body. Ye Tian glanced gratefully at the green bird on his shoulder, but the bird, ungrateful as ever, flew deeper into the cave. Did Little Green Bird want him to follow?
With Little Green Bird leading the way, Ye Tian felt much safer. The attention he was placing on his footsteps was now distributed elsewhere. In this cave, Ye Tian’s eyes were effectively useless. He had to rely solely on the aura emitted by his body to sense his surroundings.
This was a regular-shaped cave with uneven walls that did not appear to be man-made. Some protruding stones from the ceiling were almost low enough to bump one’s head, which would have been removed according to human standards. As for how long this cave was, that depended on how much path one walked.
The ground was uneven, and every now and then, he felt the slick sensation of something sliding underfoot – probably rats and, accompanied by a chilly draft, likely cold-blooded creatures like snakes. A nest for both snakes and mice really did exist. Stumbling along, Ye Tian stopped at a corner.
It was a right-angled turn where the space inside expanded many times over almost instantly. Ye Tian could sense that this was the main body of the cave, and the baffling killing aura was emanating from here. Upon reaching this point, although there was nothing obstructing his path, Ye Tian found himself truly unable to move.
There was something inside, and it was alive.
But why was there such an intense aura of death?
Apart from that life-and-death battle in Nepal, who else could instill such a strong aura of death in a living being? My Huaxia land should indeed be somewhat stronger than those smaller foreign nations.
