The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 559 - 558
Chapter 559: 558
Ye Tian stood up and rushed into the eye of the storm, stepping on bamboo, dodging left and right ceaselessly, as tiny fragments kept stabbing his way, adding more difficulty to his journey. A cut had already appeared on his face, slowly oozing a bead of blood, which was quickly dried by the wind.
Only when he reached the top of the bamboo did Ye Tian realize that something seemed wrong. Could it be that this bird was causing the strong wind!
A small bird with barely a few feathers was fluttering its wings in the air, probably because it hadn’t fully grown into an adult...into a bird, the little guy wobbled as it flew, bobbing up and down ceaselessly like a fishing rod with a fish dangling from it.
Its only two tiny wings were still flapping strenuously, and its chubby little head popped in and out curiously, looking completely naive to the ways of the world.
Little guy, so bold to venture recklessly, not afraid of being caught by the Pale Eagle.
After all, Ye Tian was just a human, and he could only climb up two steps on the bamboo pole. Once in mid-air with no foothold, he was quickly slapped down by the wind from the little bird’s wings. Luckily, the ground was covered with years of fallen yellow bamboo leaves, which prevented Ye Tian from getting hurt. Spitting out two bamboo leaves mixed with dirt, Ye Tian cursed at the bird in the sky fiercely, "You little bastard, sooner or later an eagle will catch you and take you as a concubine!"
And the small bird seemed really spiritual as it opened its mouth and started squeaking, as if it was mocking Ye Tian on the ground.
As they say, speak of the devil, a black spot swiftly dived from the higher sky, getting closer, Ye Tian realized it was a huge Pale Eagle.
Serves you right!
The black spot quickly enlarged, and soon it was clear to see the Pale Eagle’s claws stretched out, and its wingspan of over two meters. Like a tiger moves with wind in the mountains, and a dragon soars over ten thousand miles with water, when the Pale Eagle dived, it brought with it a terrifyingly enormous shadow. The small bird, the size of a bean, was instantly enveloped in that vast shadow. The fierce wind brought by the Pale Eagle scattered yellow bamboo leaves all over the ground, cutting against the face like a knife. Ye Tian raised a hand to shield his cheek and was about to go back to regroup with Zhang Liang but through the slits between his fingers, he vaguely saw the two birds seemed to have clashed. Standing up, Ye Tian was shocked, odd things happen every year, but why so many today.
Hiding behind a large bamboo, Ye Tian peered through the gaps between his fingers and saw the little bird wrapped in shadow directly collide with the Pale Eagle. That mere inch-long wings of the little bird actually buffeted the Pale Eagle, forcing it to clumsily escape to the heights. The Pale Eagle, seemingly unwilling to give up, turned back and dived again, enveloped in a vast black shadow.
Seeing the little bird fly up in a panic, flapping its tiny wings ineffectually as it merely spun around in place, Ye Tian, who was hiding behind a bamboo tree watching the spectacle, couldn’t help but start to worry for it. "You silly bird, why don’t you just fly into the forest? Why waste all that energy flapping around?" he shouted as he stepped forward.
A stranger suddenly appeared, and when the little bird focused, it realized it was the same person from earlier. It felt like meeting family! Without any hesitation, the bird darted through the bamboo leaves toward Ye Tian. Before Ye Tian could react, the bird, not yet fully feathered, had cuddled into his chest. It peeked out cautiously, looked around, and seeing no danger but spotting the silly Pale Eagle still flapping in the sky above, it got excited. Hiding in Ye Tian’s embrace, the bird chirped loudly and flapped its wings, reminiscent of a quarrelsome shrew on the streets.
The Pale Eagle swooped down, directly above a clearing. The little bird immediately recoiled in fear, shivering as it hid in Ye Tian’s embrace. Ye Tian barely moved his fingers when a blast of Clear Wind Gang Qi shot out, striking a bamboo near the Pale Eagle, splitting it instantly. Animals have an acute sense of danger; the Pale Eagle dove down, twirled, and flew back up. Assessing the dense bamboo forest below, it eventually flew away.
The thick woods were certainly not the battlefield for the Pale Eagle. Flying down would mean certain defeat. Perhaps sensing this, the little bird continued to defiantly flap its wings and squawk. Ye Tian chuckled, grabbed the bird pretending to throw it out, and the bird immediately stopped. It behaved itself, snug in Ye Tian’s hands, and feigned death.
"You little bird, where did you pick up these bad habits?"
The shadow of the Pale Eagle had disappeared, leaving the previously lively bamboo forest quiet, with just a few leaves still gently falling. Realizing it was safe, the featherless little bird lifted its head, watching the Pale Eagle disappear into the sky, and couldn’t help but mock it, its chirping ceasing abruptly as Ye Tian released it and it dropped to the ground.
"Little bird, you don’t seem like a good bird, maybe I should just squash you. You almost got me killed earlier, you know that?"
Seeing the enraged Ye Tian, the energetic bird suddenly became listless. Its head drooped, and its wings limply hung by its sides. Every now and then, it looked up at Ye Tian pitifully, its round black eyes almost seeming to tear up, enough to soften anyone’s heart.
Ye Tian was both annoyed and amused, but ultimately he lowered his lifted foot and waved the bird away, "’Scram, and don’t try to lead the flock, or sooner or later that eagle will eat you."
He had thought the bird would fly away immediately, but turning around, he found it perched on his shoulder, even nuzzling his neck as it cocked its head to look at him, seeming to want to stick close.
"Hey, little guy, I advise you to hurry up and leave. There’s a government official ahead, an Exorcist who deals with banishing demons and conjuring monsters. You’re not much different from those creatures, you better leave soon."
With a pinch of two fingers, he grabbed the little bird, and tossed it into the air above the forest. Unexpectedly, the bird returned to his shoulder, its wings stirring up a wind that almost knocked Ye Tian over. Nearby bamboo trees were snapped by the force of this wind, revealing sharp stumps below, giving Ye Tian a chilling fear. What was this little creature with such strength!
