Chapter 92: Satisfying His Thirst (2)
"Satisfying your thirst?" Madeline blinked in a daze as she was able to grasp a little bit of what he meant by satisfying his thirst. The way he stole glances at the nape of her neck already gave her signs as to the meaning regarding his statement, and her eyes widened slightly at the sheer thought of him biting into her flesh.
"You want to bite me?" She blurted out whilst trying to maneuver her way from his clutches, but no matter how hard she tried to slip from his grip, it all amounted to failures as he could already guess her next move before she even took them into action.
"You offered me your blood from the very beginning, and I intend to stick to your blood." He smiled temptingly before proceeding to say. "It’s an urge that I can’t control, it’s an appetite that is within my power to hold back, and if I can’t have your blood, I’ll go for someone else’s, and becoming one of those creatures is inevitable unless I’m ready to kill my_"
"Don’t... don’t complete what you had in mind to say. I don’t want to hear you speak of death in front of me." Madeline expressed her concern as she interjected his phrase, stopping him from spitting out that particular world that had haunted her since childhood, and Cassian couldn’t help but feel touched by her sincere concern.
"Fine, I won’t say it since you don’t want to hear it, but are you prepared to help me control my thirst?" He questioned, holding her gaze with his so she could see just how serious he was regarding this topic. "Will you let me have a taste of your blood whenever I need it? No matter the location or situation we find ourselves in, are you ready to face this with me? And me only."
As much as he wanted her to be the only one he seeked, he’d rather have her give him an honest answer, an answer that came from her heart. He wouldn’t want to force her into doing anything that would make her feel uncomfortable since it was clear a lot of things in their life would change, and right now, he wanted nothing except to gain her honest response regarding this issue.
He stared at her face, watching the lady whose expression turned perplexed as she tried to come to a decision about becoming his blood bank. It was going to be another agreement that sounded so absurd, and Madeline would never believe that a time like this would come in her life when she’s faced with not only ghosts, but vampires as well.
She’s lost her parents to one of those vile things, and now her husband is forced to become one of them even against his own will. She wanted to know exactly who the murderer of her parents was, and it feels like fate had planned it all for her, because if Cassian remains a vampire, he might just lure the killer of her parents out of the shell it presently hid.
Knowing this, she doesn’t think she’ll be able to stand losing another person who has cared and sheltered her. She already promised to stay with him and offer him her support, and his current situation wasn’t going to make her change her mind.
"Have you....have you ever bitten... someone?" She asked while summoning up her courage, her cheeks turning into the softest shade of pink as she looked into his eyes that bored right into hers. "I....I mean, have you ever..."
"We learn everyday, don’t we?" Before Madeline could grasp the meaning of his words, he suddenly buried his face against the nape of her exposed neck, and a shocking gasp tore from Madeline’s lips when she felt something sharp sink into her flesh, like a skin that got pricked with a needle.
Her mouth hung open like someone who wanted to scream from the startling pain, but she held it back and just closed her eyes tightly to endure it. To her surprise, the pain subsided a little when she gradually calmed her nerves, and she felt warmth take over after realizing Cassian had given her body time to recover before doing anything further.
Just like the first time, Madeline could feel him draw her blood out as he sucked on her skin, feeding himself with more of her delicious blood since he needed it to survive the day without craving for another stranger’s blood. He didn’t need any other blood when Maddie’s blood already tasted like the most incredible thing his taste buds had felt.
He continued to take as much as he could, and Madeline could barely hold it in as she whispered. "Are you not done?"
Hearing how strained her voice sounded, he slowly pulled back to meet her gaze, and for the first time, his Amber-brown eyes were instantly transformed into a ruby-red, shocking the woman on the bed as she took notice of the whitish fangs he had used to pierce her skin.
"Don’t rush me." His tone was demanding as he pressed her hands back onto the bed, interlocking their fingers together and hovering atop the woman whose skin had bloomed red from excessive flusters.
"But..."
And he sank his fangs into her tender skin again, feasting on her blood while keeping the woman pinned to the bed. He continued to take her blood fervently until Madeline felt herself growing weak, and feeling his hot mouth against her skin only made her head spin as her mind got distracted from the pain.
Instead, she imagined where else this mouth of his could taste against her skin. Her body felt hot and there was this sense of need that crawled through her skin, whispering to her to pull his magnificent body down on hers. She wanted to know what it’d feel like having his warm body against hers, feeling his warmth and every structure of that sculptured body in her arms.
Yet she wasn’t courageous enough to do it.
"C....Cas."
He finally pulled back when he assumed he had taken enough. He looked at the beautiful woman who’s gaze had turned blurry with visible desires, and the only thing that rampaged his mind was to kiss her succulent lips and use their agreement as an excuse.
’Get yourself together!’ he inwardly scolded himself as he rolled off her. Falling on his back, he kept his eyes closed as he tried to catch his breath, and when he opened his eyes, they were back to their normal colors.
Using the opportunity she found to finally escape him, Madeline quickly got to her feet and went straight into the bathroom, going in and sliding the door shut before he changed his mind and came after her, and then she heard him speak from outside.
"Little hare, haven’t you heard the saying that slow and steady wins the race. You didn’t take a towel with you, or do you intend to bless my eyes with something surprising this morning?"
He didn’t hear her response after reminding her that she didn’t take her dress or anything else with her. Instantly, the door opened and Madeline rushed out to pick her towel and her dress before going into the bathroom again without slowing down on her steps.
Cassian couldn’t hold back a laugh seeing her run like someone was chasing her, and that wasn’t a lie since he was the one chasing her.
Finally able to think, Cassian got dressed into his usual ash-colored waistcoat, except he didn’t button them up like he normally did. He was wearing a sparkling white shirt within the coat while leaving two buttons undone, and he hit it off with the matching ash-colored trouser that fitted his long legs.
Looking at himself in the mirror, he never appeared more dashing.
Sauntering to the edge of the bed, he opened the cabinet that was right after the table, gently bringing out the silk-colored material Geoffrey handed him when he paid him a visit at the fancy Leaf inn.
Studying the star shape that was symbolized at the center of the material, it looked exactly like the symbol he saw on the strange guest yesterday. That tattoo on his neck had a striking resemblance to the star-like pattern on the silk.
"This means I was right."
Confirming his suspicion about the stranger, he placed the material back inside the cabinet and closed it up.
His pretty brows knit themselves as he pursed his lips, silently trying to understand why the stranger didn’t reveal he was a vampire last night.
More surprising, why did he pay him a visit?
Cassian knew he had been slacking off recently due to his blindness and trying to get comfortable with his wife. But now that he’s got all that settled, it was time to pick up from where he stopped.
Going downstairs, he could see his mother standing in the front room with his father as they gave the impression of two individuals having a serious conversation.
"Mother is sick again, the reason why she couldn’t come yesterday." Richard informed Elaine who immediately expressed her concern.
"We’ll need to pay her a visit." She suggested, and Richard nodded his head in agreement as he equally thought the same.
"We’ll leave after breakfast and return tomorrow."
"Won’t Juliana be coming with us?"
"She’ll meet us there."
Silently listening to their conversation like a hawk in a nest, Cassian found it the perfect opportunity to scout the restricted area. The last time he accidentally stepped foot in there was what made him encounter ghosts, but then his uncle William was so mad at him that he.....
Cassian instinctively placed a hand to his back, recalling how he got punished by having that tattoo carved straight into his back, and he shivered at the slight remembrance of how much it had hurt.
"You’re no longer alive to stop me today, uncle William."
